I just realized something about this art...a telescope, astrolabe, globe...these instruments are never associated with the world of the alchemists. Ed and Al aren't wearing the clothes of that world, but those of this world in the early 20th century. In this art Al got to the other side of the gate and found his brother...❤️

I am glad i watched Fma 2003 before brotherhood because 2003 focused more on the relationships between the people . So when i watched brotherhood i knew the bond between the characters , due to which i did not mind brotherhood to be fast pace .
Yeah, I loved the characters so much more in 2003. Even though I watched Brotherhood first, 2003 is still my favorite because of how fleshed out the characters were. Characters are my main goal in anything I watch, read, or create

This music for me, isn't just music, It's a feeling, A feeling of hope and sadness at the same time, A feeling of a great joy and laughter and the deep sorrow of losing a loved one or of some old memories with them. It's so hard to explain but so simple to understand at the same time. It is definitely a timeless masterpiece.

If you notice one of the books behind Alphonse says "NEWTON", I think that it isn't talking about physics, which he is most well known for, or calculus, which he is also well known for, but alchemy, which he isn't well known for, but he spent the most time doing.

That is interesting. But I believe they are not studying alchemy. There isn't a single transmutation circle anywhere. Instead you see an astrolabe, a telescope, and a globe. I think the Elrics are studying real-world science in this image.
Underrated comment, and a bloody good eye.
This song just does something so special. It combines nostalgia, hope, sadness and peace all in one. Every time I listen to it I can't help but feel calm, content and sad at the same time. No other song does it like this one.
I watched brotherhood first because people said it was the superior adaptation so I watched it it became my all time favorite anime, but then I realized I haven watched the 03 version because I thought it was just a bad version of brotherhood but then I decided to watch it and oh wow I think fma 03 was one of the best anime experiences I've had. It manages to stand as a an individual story extremely well considering most of its anime original and now fma and brotherhood are at the top of my anime list as equals because I loved them both so much (but I do actually prefer 03's darker themes)
I have the same scenario, I only watched Brotherhood becausw it was so recommended over FMA 03', but until now I decided to watch the og anime, and I'm loving it hard. The first part before the death of Hughes at least, I felt it much more complete than Brotherhood portraying, here you actually grieve the Hughes' demise because you have much more time in screen watching him. And by the soundtrack, art and scenes, feelings are better captured (overall PTSD and sorrow/guilt related stuff).
yeah i had a similar experience. unpopular opinion but I think the ending of 2003, including the movie, was great. it was so sad and emotional but resonated with me a lot, probably because I have a younger brother myself.
I hoped you watched the movie after the 2003. I love the 2003 version because it didn’t have the cliche happy ending of every anime. The 2003 was my fav and the movie happens right after the 2003 an it’s also beautiful. FMA is my fav anime

I'm an old fan, as a kid I watched 2003 first as the english dub was airing on adult swim and when it was over and the movie released the manga was still ongoing and there was no sign of something like brotherhood so I ended up picking up the manga and I got to catch up and read it as it was released and got to read the ending when it happened and the funny thing was brotherhood had already started airing and so I got to re-experience the manga story all over again in animated form. I still maintain that imo as a 2003 watcher and manga reader I feel like Brotherhood at times feels like it's trying to get to the greed portion of the story where things diverge from 2003 a little too fast for my taste and I think 2003 does a few things not quite as cleanly as brotherhood and the manga do but they are all wonderful stories and I think there's plenty to appreciate about all of them and I think people are doing themselves a disservice by dismissing 2003, because it does certain things remarkably well for being as heavily anime original as it is.
FMA is absolutely amazing. I love it no other anime has made me so happy and sad at the same time.

@Pristine Artifact And this is why It annoys me when people say skip the original and go straight to Brotherhood. It is so much more rewarding to watch Brotherhood afterward. Most people agree the earlier parts of Fullmetal Alchemist 2003 are better handled than they are in Brotherhood, the majority of people also seem to prefer the ending in Brotherhood over 2003. So, by watching the 2003 version before Brotherhood one gets the best of both worlds.

The '03 version is often looked down upon, but there were many parts that were handled better there than in Brotherhood that is definitely worth it to watch first. It's extra dark, and it gets extra sad, but there are times where they just... you know? Also, I remember always getting scenes between the two confused. Which one showed the resurrected mother in the beginning? When did Mustang and Edward fight? How did Hughes die and what about after (there is a major difference that I think the manga should have done similarly, it would spark even bigger a fire for Mustang's revenge, after all)? You know? And of course, we all know '03 is king of soundtracks for this song alone.
@@R0-83-RT The first episodes of 2003 FMA was directly based in the manga, then the story changes. When Brotherhood was made the first episodes were already done by 2003 FMA so the team in Brotherhood decided to change and fasten a little bit those firts episodes in Brotherhood. For me I really wouldn't matter to repeat the greatness of the first 03 episodes in Brotherhood because they better done in 03 and in the Manga but I didn-t take the decisions jejeje. I really love both versions and I also have moments that I prefer in one over the other. FMA is more seinen and FMAB is more Shounen (in the end it gets more important the action than the the feels but I don't saying the feels are not important if you understand what I trying to say). So I really love that both versions are great. Some may like one and others like the other one but the two are awesome and no much anime can say that.
The 2003 FMA series had the best music. The entire series really hits you emotionally - especially the part where Trisha's Homonculus finally gives in to her former self's maternal instincts right before expiring.

I cry whenever I listen to this. This song makes me feel the same way Ed probably felt while carrying all that guilt about blaming himself for making his and Al’s life almost equivalent to hell. A song full of tragedy and beauty at the same time.
This and the LOTR Shire theme are the most emotional and soothing themes/songs i've ever heard. Whenever I listen to them I become peaceful yet sad. This one specifically hits hard for me since I have a little brother who looks exactly like Al and I can't stop thinking about how one day he might die like all of us. I can't hold my tears when I think about that and it makes me want to go save him from whatever danger he might be in and hold him in my arms. I could never live without my little brother. I can relate to fullMetal Alchemist on so many levels and I love Edwards because he's literally the most relatebal older brother in all of fiction. This show is a fucking masterpiece. Me and my older brother have a very strong connection, despite him suffering from the highest stage of invalidism. We lost both our parents and our grandmother is all we have now, apart from each other. FMA, and especially the 03 version has a special place in my heart.

I miss Fullmetal Alchemist every 2000s
Edward, Itachi, and Shinra (from fire force) are my favorite older brothers in anime
In the Perfect Timeline, Brotherhood had this
Thematically speaking this song personifies many of the theme of the show perfectly. Each and ever character is motivated by a form of tradegy that has happened in the series. Even Father whose initial tragedy is that despite his inherent knowledge he is trapped and unable to be free in the world. Each of these tradegies are also interconnected like the brothers. All of which originate within Father's actions. All can be drawn back to him. Yet for every character there is still hope and a strong one at that. This is the most powerful with the brothers because despite the truths that they learn about the stone they keep pushing on. This song would literally describe how and why every character is doing what they are doing. Brotherhood has some amazing songs but non hold a candle in quality or in thematic appropriateness to this one. Damn same they couldn't use this one on us at least once.
This OST is in Brotherhood too, just re-arranged. In the episode "created feelings" if I don't remember wrong.

I really enjoyed this anime a lot That I can't describe it. This anime is really a masterpiece because it show us two brother unconditional love for each other. sometimes I felt like why I have no older brother Like Edward Erick who everytime care about his younger brother more then his life.
