In this episode of FUEL, we head to new heights following professional rock climber Alex Honnold, whose jaw-dropping, free-solo climbs (no ropes) have cemented him as one of the most revered and respected climbers in the world.
Set in stunning Utah, Alex takes us along as he trains and preps for an upcoming expedition in Angola, Africa. We follow him to unique climbing destinations; Maple Canyon for cobble climbing and an intense alpine scramble up the south ridge of Mount Superior with fellow dirtbag climber James Lucas.
Before setting off for Angola, being a self-professed lazy cook, Alex shops for vegan snacks and drops by Gnarly Nutrition in search of light, tasty, and travel-friendly food to keep him powered up and at a high fitness level. It’s clear, no matter what Alex scarfs up, that by following his own brand of a healthy middle ground, the sky’s the limit.

James Smith In my country for example most of the governments budget gets spent on welfare (money for people who can’t get or sometimes won’t get a job). And that budget is fed through income tax hence technically your tax is used for charity.

Climbing elevated to an art form. The dedication to become, essentially, wandering monks who serve at the Temple Of Climb. Such purity. In Belize, back in the 70s, I encountered a loose knit community of climbers that had all taken bad falls. They were a stand offish bunch. And I had always felt like I understood why: If you haven't been there, you just will never know. These kinds of videos speak volumes about being serious about climbing.

And I was a rope climber/guide on Rainier....with no accidents/serious injuries. I don't have a fear of heights, ladders, etc.- BUT when on ladders following my accident....I RESPECT ladders so much more- and approach their placement with great respect and homework. @@ramezbishara6400 haha thanks. Seriously though Snickers bars every 5 feet where I work
But you also work for a living. He doesn't have a spouse, doesn't own a house...what's his retirement plan? Won't have anything in the bank when he's old. Office workers can easily work out with a simple home gym that costs a couple of hundred.
@@jesser5127 This video is kinda old. A lot of changes in a couple years. Honnold has all of that covered now. He makes a good living. He's pretty much set for life.
@@CrispyClouds Doesn't look like he's planning on living very long with free climbing. You see how many problems his buddy free climber has had. He fell and nearly died.
This is my favorite Alex Honnold video. I don’t know why it just is.
Can't help but admire this guys free way of life. Living life totally on his own terms.
"that's the kind you want anyway" spoken like a real man
Yung Go Fuck Yourself Idiot he is an elite level climber. Are you an elite anything?
@@bob13513 I never got the "vegeterians are evil" comments...If he finds meat discusting why eat it? If he likes eating a meat free diet and is very healthy, why eat meat? I hate it when vegeterians and vegans are preaching to people how killing animals is bad and that humans are evil for eating meat but if you are feeling sorry for animals or you are finding meat discusting you should be free to choose what you eat and not be crucified for it...
Good on him. I turned vegetarian myself 6 months ago. I agree, we should be more aware of the impact of our diet. Every step helps
Such a amazingly cool guy, that lest sentence he said is the one of the best sentences that could be said
I feel like alex and james are living life to the fullest while i'm just doing what's expected of me :/ good on these 2, such inspirations
saaaaaame
He said in an interview that he felt that way until his dad died. Then we was more free to choose the path he wanted, so he left university and pursued climbing full-time.
At the end of the video i realize that beyond how incredibly physically attractive he is he really is a good soul in existence and im glad to have come across him and his message.
He looks like 14 year old boy lol.
@@MatthewSmith-uf6tr what 14 year old boy is that ripped?

@@al1410 yeah telling someone they are attractive is gay, gtfo troll. Nobody gives a shit.
I love how chill he is, fucking eating mac and cheese and spitting facts
Hahaha, I like how Alex was talking about adventurous ladies, and James hopped on the van...
10:28 The dude is panting and Honnold is barely winded.
he's super fit
That dude was coming off an injury. So I would cut him some slack. 😏
And yet the cameraman made it up there first without even panting
