Ed Mylett went from showering at public pools because he was beyond broke to becoming one of the youngest CEO MD’s in World Financial Group’s history. And unlike most rags to riches stories he has tangible, step by step advice on how to recognize that better version of yourself you think about every day and actually become it. Master motivator Ed Mylett discusses the keys to manifesting your dream life on this episode of Impact Theory with Tom Bilyeu.
SHOW NOTES:
Ed explains the role pain and dissatisfaction play in motivating change. [2:52]
Ed on self-confidence and rebuilding it in your lowest moments. [6:43]
Ed talks about the power working out and other factors that impact your emotions. [14:11]
Ed and Tom discuss how constantly raising standards keeps your hunger alive. [24:26]
Ed breaks down the process of overcoming his paralyzing stage fright. [31:35]
Ed and Tom discuss the importance of tasting your dream while you’re chasing it. [35:55]
Ed reveals the impact he wants to have on the world. [39:12]
QUOTES:
“It's important that we celebrate our wins. We celebrate our lives because it causes us to want the next bite. It keeps us hungrier, not the reverse.” [5:55]
“Self-confidence is really self-trust” [6:48]
“I think the biggest shift in our lives, the things that makes us the happiest is that when somebody helps us identify our natural giftedness.” [20:25]
“I want the data, I want the input, I want the information, I want the feedback to get to the next version of me regardless of how it emotionally makes me feel. I'm like driven by that. Without that information, why am I living?” [24:14]
“The most inspiring person is the one overcoming the fear of doing something, not the person who is excellent at it.” [35:47]

    • Siim Land...Don't get too excited over a few platitudes. How Ed actually made his money thru WFG is not so respectable. Ed is a dynamic performer and mostly branding himself thru shows like this. Tom is unique in that he actually built a moral & substantial company (Quest) with his partners, lending Tom enormous credibility. There are 1000s of talented speakers and books that say everything Ed said. Do your research...a critical mind will explore whether the person (Ed) is credible and someone you want to reference. In this case, I am not inspired by Ed's real story of wealth accumulation, but the message of positive routines is good and I respect Ed's passion and focus.

    • True, but a part of masculinity is doing whatever it takes to reach your goals. Although Ed may have a shady past, he's doing quite a lot of inspirational things right now which may be his path

      @SiimLand@SiimLand5 жыл бұрын
    • Siim Land: in this case, Ed's past with WFG is relevant bc he is actively using it as evidence of his system, world view, beliefs, and brand..and Ed is unrepentant. Understand the context before adopting Ed as an idol. However, Ed's message is good and can be examined and integrated separately from the man.

    • Out of curiosity, I will look into how Ed made his money thru WFG but I have to agree with Siim Land below. Regardless of his past, currently he's helped make a positive impact on my life with his shows. I always tell my best friend... tho I started my life again from zero in Florida about 2 yrs ago, I know when I reach the top people will bring up my past entertainment life in NJ working in clubs, with strippers & everthing that comes with that lifestyle. People in Florida look at me totally different than someone who knew me in Jersey would. Sometimes... your past does not dictate who you are in the future ;-)

  • This interview really moved me. I've been following Ed on social media for a number of years now on Instagram since I was probably 17 or 18. I am 24 now. I messaged him on Instagram expressing my gratitude for his wisdom and his content and explained to him how badly I wanted to make a difference and impact the world in my endeavours whether it was through at the time bodybuilding and at the present moment being music and fitness. Not expecting a reply and even saying so in my message, to my surprise he actually messaged me back and gave some words of wisdom and support to never let anything external infiltrate my internal belief about myself and my abilities. Ed is such a genuine and down to earth human being. I hope one day I get to meet him. He's been a huge influence in building and working on my personal development. Just an all around great guy.

This interview did that for me. I envy no one because I know it took a lot of hard work and sacrifice to get to their level and for that, I have great admiration for you Tom. You are truly legendary.

  • Clearly one of Ed’s 5 people - and he stated it as well - is his father in recovery. Heard so many of the recovery principles in this interview. I took a lot of notes: - Self confidence is self trust. Stacking promises to yourself and being aware of doing it. Toms line - “your past can never be bigger than your future.” Toms line - If I want to change my behaviors, I have to think of myself in a different way.” - Identity is the governing force of our lives. - Changing identity through association (visual of the thermostat is goood) - Using your natural gifts and talents to change your identity. - This version of me right now is not going to be sufficient next year. - We build habits, disciplines and rituals that serve us. Took me forever to type this! Had to keep going back to 👂 over and over again. Every time I did, I heard what was being said in a deeper and sometimes different way. Good stuff - powerful - his explanations are a deeper way of understanding how identity drives behavior. Thanks Ed and Tom 🙏💡❤️

I've been trying to push myself to follow big goals for the sake of achieving big goals, without really uncovering a deep emotional reason, one based on sharing and contributing to the happiness of others. Ed's given me the tools I needed to illuminate my model of self, and I am extremely grateful.

  • Giving all praise to this team of guru's for bringing my life back on track when I thought everything was gone, but with the help guidelines I was able to realized that the secret to making a million is saving for a better investment. I always tell myself you don't need that new Maserati or that vacation just yet. That mindset helped me make more money investing. For example last year I invested 80k in stocks (with the help of my Financial Advisor of course) and made about 246k, but guess what? I put it all back and traded with her again and now I'm rounding up close to a million.

I grew up poor and never felt comfortable going into brand name stores, even as a child going to the mall I felt unworthy of being there. About a decade ago I went to T J Maxx with a friend and I changed my mindset that day by telling myself I belong there as much as anyone else. It's part of my visualizing almost, of seeing myself there already & feeling it. Awesome!

  • SO THANKFUL! For the order in which I receive my blessings and lessons! I'm not going to say it's computer algorithms that led me to you, instead I'll say it's the systematic approach I'm taking to better myself daily. Two months ago I found Ed and was blown away with his interview with Eric Thomas. I can say I'm equally blown away with your interview. I look forward to listening to more videos from your channel. THANK YOU!

  • The congratulating oneself makes such a big difference. I started writing a short -sort of P&L statement- journal, where every morning I write down the things I did right and wrong the day before. I realised how many things I do right but never congratulate myself for. Doing this assessment as I wake up also makes me remember why I do it, not miss the goal in mind.

  • I have watched so many videos and listened to podcasts in and around the topic of "me" and the "us" as humans and beings. This has to be hands-down one of the best videos because of you two. Thank you both so much for bringing sanity and hope for a small and rare percentage of those who suspect they are lost in the dark. Through genuinely and conscious emitting and pouring yourself into the world, you become the testament to those who feel different. Proof that once enlightened to know the light is already within, "those people who are crazy enough to think they change the world, are the ones who do."

As I look back today, even though she was only on this earth for three month she showed me the unconditional love I never had, even though I dreamed of pedicures, getting her ready for prom, her wedding. • Desirae Baker...Tom & Ed's central message is building credibility with urself. Cold water wakup remedy has been proven effective since the beginning time. I like Ed's focus on morning & evening routines to optimize the time in between. Good luck!

    • Dessi, when WAKING up, you can try Mel's count down from 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 sit up and do somethings which you are exited to do. I always play the piano directly when I wake up. (Music and motion creates emotion). 🙂 Instead of "I'm tired. I can sleep a little bit longer.." your first thought could be your Strong Reason Ed talked about (Easier if Printed on the Wall). If I get up now I can provide value and comfort to my "Important person", if I don't get up now somebody else will do it instead. (or a stronger reason). Hope something inspired you! /Gustaf

      @gustafrindestal@gustafrindestal5 жыл бұрын
    • I understood the central message. I liked this tip being more of a physical "wakeup slap." I've tried Mel's method, wanting it to work so badly. It sadly doesn't work for me personally. I do love Mel's message though. I feel like I do great in other aspects of my life right now & I've been growing a lot in the last few years. Waking up on time is still one of my troublesome tasks. Haha.

      @intuitive_duck@intuitive_duck5 жыл бұрын
    • Nice to hear haha! The waking up part is all about identity. When I allow myself to snooze I snooze at least once. When I know I'm the person who never snooze, I don't snooze. It's tricky though. Even after holding it for over 90 days I have still fallen back sometimes. Good luck!
