Every professional wildlife photographer will tell you that the secret to capturing those award winning and once in a lifetime moments is in patience and being at the right place in the right time. However, sometimes there's just no secret as the animals once in a while tend to do the unexpected and end up surprising the photographer.
Hello guys welcome to another episode of 4 Ever Green. From squirrels taking the photographer's role to a hyena behaving like a puppy, we will show to you 20 Times Wild Animals Surprised Photographers. Be sure to stick around as number 1 will leave you in aww.

I totally get the thrill and delight of these encounters. Unfortunately, when animals start trusting humans it puts them in danger, because not all of us are trustworthy.
Not all of the animals are trustworthy either.
@@diligenceeke3023 true, but we have the ability to reason. They don't.
Trust before requires
These animals are just curious plus these are trained professionals plus there other people who are also professional too. As long you don’t do anything to provoke them into attacking you, or if they get defensive.
same goes for animals
Considering how terribly hyenas are treated in the wild by their own kind, the pets that one hyena got is probably the most love it has ever felt in its life.
Yes 😭😭😥😢
That was #18 with Kevin Richardson, who owns his own rescue reserve in South Africa (most lions). HE'S AMAZING . I would never have appreciated hyenas without him! #TheLionWhisperer ❤️❤️❤️
well Male Hyenas because if you are a female Hyena then you have no problem since you are bigger and stronger plus you are valued by the pack because you give birth. Male Hyenas are soo sad
Brandon, it is sad. However, think on this: There was a time, back in the early part of this century (the first decade), when I visited my mother, who was still alive and living in the Laguna Hills are in Orange County, California. She was renting a condo. apt. from a friend. There was, at that time, a big problem with hyenas roaming freely around the area. Many people living there were elderly and had small pets: mostly dogs, but some cats. There were several instances where hyenas, seeing leashed dogs being walked by their owners, literally leaped up, approached the poor little dog, grabbed it, and started to eat it while running a way with the leash still attached. The owners

I love, love, love the interaction between wild animals and humans - maybe these beautiful creatures should only be photographed - never harmed or killed

One should especially never mess with kangaroos. The original kick-boxers!
For instance, they might become outraged over misleading pieces of click-bait. Like non-existent lionesses!

As a wildlife biologist, I've been surrounded by turkeys, dragging their wingtips over my toes, and sitting on my knees. Also have had several rattlesnakes crawl over my (booted) feet. Also had three raccoons all around me, pulling them selves up my pants legs. Been close enough to a large (>40 lb) bobcat to touch it, and several weeks later met the same bobcat on a forest trail about 1/2 mile from our previous meeting. This time he had a large squirrel that he dropped at my feet, and I handed it back to him. Had both red and grey foxes come close enough to sniff my shoes. Had a troop of wild hogs surround me, pushing and shoving to get close. Love the great outdoors!
How absolutely awesome!!
Bobcat was bringing you a present
@@darrinbunston5932, one morning, I came around a dense mass of brush, and found myself about 15-20' from a large black bear. I would estimate him at 350-400 pounds. I think we were both surprised, because both of us froze. The bear moved first, standing and sniffing. Then he dropped to all fours and went away from me, lost sight of him at about 45 yards from me. I surprised myself by not feeling any fear, just a happy encounter in the woods. That afternoon, I came across a very large sow feral hog, that I estimated at about 500 lb. She was HUGE! And that time I honestly felt fear, a true "fight or flight" moment. She had not seen me, however, and went merrily on her way. It was obvious from her belly that she had either recently given birth, or was about to. I was busy looking for a tree to climb! Feral hogs are some of the worst animals to come across, they don't seem to have any fear, or respect, for humans. I truly miss the days when, working, I would spend 10-12 hours a day, sometimes 6 or 7 days a week, out in the "wild". Been medically retired now for 13 years; it took about four years before I quit getting up and dressed at 5:30 every morning. And nowadays, I just hurt too much to walk more than about 25 yards or so. Got a fenced in back yard because I can no longer walk my Service Dog.
Sorry to hear about your struggles these days but maybe you could still enjoy the outdoors with a side-by-side or something like that just a suggestion
Craig Wilcox: what wonderful stories and encounters you have had! I hope you write them down on a blog or somewhere everyone can enjoy them! It must make a huge difference to be out in the wild with the animals that have not been hunted and have not developed great fear of humans. Your story tells me I have to get back out in the wild soon! Hope you have more experiences to share with us, and let us know where!
We were privileged to have a pair of wolves come to stay with us for nearly 3 months! We had three young boys at the time. No intimidation, just humbleness and patience. Our youngest son liked to swim, but the wolves would not allow him to do so. They were very careful to keep him away from the water. Memorable time!

You should be honest. I know that this photographer and cheetah mother were very well known to each other. So do tell people the REAL story!

Agree Jean! There ARE very real moments when wild animals will approach, but it is always important to understand and appreciate the context, as well as to clearly explain the background which has resulted in this wonderful interaction. There's only 4% difference between us and Gorillas, 3% with Orangutans and 2% with Chimps and bonobos. Gorillas, Exactly where we where around 8 million years ago, thinking about the world around us, although now their consciousness is expanding faster because we're in the midst of a global mass extinctions event of which throughout natural history, and leap of evolution occurs by animal filling in the niches left behind my animals lost to extinctions through natural and unnatural selection, through us human in other words. Through my observations over the past 48yrs but intently for around 30yrs, I've seen animal consciousness grow, show more if what we call human characteristics, but remember it's us that think we're alone in the world of extremely evolved species, the top predator, and evolutionary giant, with a brain holding a consciousness bigger than the universe itself, so we're more like them rather than them us. Enjoyed the video mate.
The male gorilla was raise by the blonde dude. He went back with his wife and reunited in the wild. Its even better than this video

Amazing moments. Brilliant photography. X
I don't think the animals were total strangers to the photographers but with weeks or maybe with months of interaction with humans, they lost fear and curiosity took over.
❤️
They are use to the cameras 🤩
The cheetah and the cubs the photographer had been following the mother for months and so she was use to him being about and knew he wasn't a threat to her cubs after they were born. Also many of these are issues of the animals being in sanctuaries and know the cars/trollies are not a threat to them, so they'll come up and rub on them and the people to mark them.
If you notice, some of them had collars on? I'm assuming a tracking collar, not necessarily an indication that they are a pet, but they've also made contact with humans before no doubt

Keeping one's composure when a wild animal such as a big cat or brown bear sits beside you whilst taking photos is truly a gift just one wiff of fear in the air or one panicked movement and no doubt the animal might attack ...although I'd love to be up close to such animals I'm pretty sure my heart would be in my mouth as I'd be so terrified yet at the same moment I'd be in shock and awe at being in the presence of such an animal..
Meh not so much. You don't have the fear if you went out there cognizant of the potential they have, so you have an effective means of self defense (whether weapon or buddy system) so by default you don't have the same level of fear and you aren't retreating like prey would. It is not so different when dealing with humans. If someone retreats you instinctively think you have the upper hand while if they stand their ground, not so much.

Am I the only one who saw that poor hyena’s neck? Bless it’s heart! That needed treated.
That is at a rescue and reserve. That is clearly a wound from a wire or chain when it was previously kept in captivity. Like domestic dogs, they can remain affectionate to humans even after being mistreated by them. It has already been treated but is still healing. Had it not been raised by humans it wouldn’t be so friendly.
Kevin Richardson is known for rescuing lions and hyenas so I'm sure it was a rescue and now has a happy home.
@@pattic8473 hey, that wasn’t one of his Hyenas. I haven’t seen any of his hyenas have wounds like that. (EDIT: read another comment and watching it back realised it’s not a wound. Kevin Richardson is my animal hero! ( the guy with the hyena) he does the most amazing work and even though he can go in with his animals he knows enough to read the signs and when to not stay in. I do love seeing God's gifts to us. Unfortunately there are many horrible times when people are vicious to God's animals. To show them love and trust in humans puts them at risk for those who want to abuse or kill them. Elephants are abused by people that are supposed to praise them in their relugion. Animals are killed for some " cure " that will make a person " healthy ". I don't know how to protect animals from those people that will be harmful. I do feel however, that allowing them to feel safe with humans isn't good in the long run. Unless, animals are much smarter than the rest of the human population and can sense when the humans approaching are not safe for them to be around.

Animals can feel our energy. They know who to be friendly with and who to eat.
I respectively disagree. Its not that simple. The concept of perceived 'energy' by an animal can very well be just an anthropormorphism on our part. Animals are hard wired. A hungry lion in the wild doesn't care if youre a good person who loves animals or just an edible treat. I've had pets all my life and I sincerely loved them. But I had respect for them too. They can react swiftly and viciously if wrongly triggered.

I was most impressed with the silverback gorillas 🦍 absolutely breathtaking and just blended with the photographers as one big happy family 🤎🤎🤎
So true they are just the apitomy of massive solid muscle and I have seen so many shows where they tollerate us if we do no harm they do not seem to be too concerned...they must know we are the disgusting animals who killed their population. It seems animals unlike we are lead to believe are similar to us unless you threaten, make them feel threatened or they are hunting they are not prone to needless violence. They also seem to have a great memory and loyalty if they are done a good deed and even care for other animals. Funny as we find out more and more things are not quite as we were told usbeing far smarter and more civilised, caring, emotional and superior in every way to everything else yet as it turns out we dont have a clue really whats in an animals mind until shit happens and we find out. They are nothers, fathers and children and same as us will fight to protect, care for and nurture! But the Gorillas ...if I did have the nerve to sit and bow my head like they say ...still mY SHIT MYSELF!
I saw the full report of that encounter. The man sitting is not a professional photographer. He had helped raise the gorilla and the young woman in the video was a small girl at the time. Years later the man and daughter returned to where the gorilla had been released. The gorilla recognized them and brought his family to meet the man.
If watching this clips was exciting I can't imagine how much in awe photographers must have felt witnessing the actual encounters! Specially knowing that they are wild and sometimes dangerous animals! Amazing!

"Can you pet a hyena?" I like my arms in their sockets.
Kevin Richardson has spent a good chunk of his life studying hyenas, lions, panthers, jaguars, cheetahs. He has a sanctuary where he is part of a hyena pack, part of a lion pride and close friends with some panthers. He has spent DECADES developing relationships with these animals. They love him, he loves them. HOWEVER....he always studies their moods and body language. He never pushes himself on them if they don't want him there. He is respectful of their boundaries and inter pack structures. They are all individuals, with their own quirks and foibles. Kevin KNOWS. He has survived because he knows when to stop petting, he knows when to head for the fence gate. As close as he is to them, he never forgets what they could "accidentally " do to him in a few seconds of anger.

I am a South-African and have seen much suffering of our wildlife, re canning and poaching… the video is ok but do not use animals in captivity as part of your “wildlife encounters.”
But these were shot in the "wild" I do not understand what you are saying, in SA the majority of wildlife are fenced in, that is the only way we see them. The parks are huge and gives you a feeling of not being in captivity but our wildparks needs lots of management to keep these animals in these parks. You know animals habitats are small and limited to these parks, Im South African too and I've lived and traveled throughout Africa and have been to some wonderful wildparks in our country and throughout Africa. South Africa is the only country where you will not find animals outside these parks or wildlife farms excluding primates, monkeys, buck and leopards. Tourism is all that keeps these animals alive, look at the national parks in our country, the government is not subsidising them as before, that is why they brought in those commercial restaurants and gave land for private lodges. These photographers are more than acceptable but I agree with you the canning and poaching is not, same as the chumming of sharks for cage diving.
Amen to that. Greetings from Kenya
What sickens me is our goverments teamed up to allow trophy hunting in yours. I just pray they all get eaten and it becomes illegal and actually punishable.

Hyenas are one of the most interesting and beautiful animals in the wild . They are not even scavengers but are qualified hunters . Just love the sound they make.
They hunt in packs and steal other hunter's prey that just make it me hate them.
@@binaykumarnayak2227 Hyenas are portrayed only as scavengers in movies but in reality they do hunt . And talking about pack ,cheetahs prefers to hunt in the group of two( coalition )and female lions hunt their prey in packs and sometimes they steal kills from hyenas and wild dogs . And for the record Hyenas are amazingly intelligent than other carnivores, so I don't see a logical reason to hate hyenas I guess if you hate hyenas you might not love other animals too( lions ) .

On the other hand spotted hyenas are hunters that's why in previous reply I used "only " becoz people don't really know about spotted hyenas and they assume hyenas "only " scavenge . And my statement about intelligence comes from holekamp research which suggests that Hyenas are smart as primates cos they live in complex society as some primate do and have social intelligence . And lions in small group( in comparison to hyenas) which holekamp describes as "surprisingly robot like responses to their situation" ( generally) . Wild animals usually only approach humans when they need some sort of help, it would be better to always keep that in mind. It is obvious when an approach is hostile.
More often than not if they approach you it is because the animal is curious. Elephants, primates, and many birds have a high level of intelligence that makes them very curious. That's why we see so many videos of wild animals curiously approaching people. 7/10 times it's curiosity rather than they need help
An approach doesn't always mean hostile it sometimes means curiosity or need help
Exactly what the comment said@@memeboi878
@@muskanhira763 he said "it is obvious when an approach is hostile" i said not always
My favs: the artic fox, wolves and koala. I couldn’t resist petting any of these. Those photogs were so lucky.
Can we all just appreciate the amazing pictures we have been able to see over our life time , just absolutely amazing pictures 🔥🔥
what a trip, to get this fragrant there had to be someone recording the guy who was recording
They all are beautiful animals and what I love the most is to watch them roaming freely in their own habitats, the way it should be. I wish I could have been next to a rhino to give him a belly rub 😊😊. Love rhinos 🦏 they can be very sweet once they know you. Thank you for sharing this wonderful video full of gorgeous creatures. Loved it 😍 👍👌🙌👏♥️♥️♥️
The animals having “fun” is what got me
I love being near animals and feel it a privilege when a wild animal allows you into their space (respect it and say Thank you) however I think my heart would have stopped in some of these encounters but thank you for sharing such close ups and respect to you too The cheetah licking the photographer... well that was like tasting the wine before buying the bottle... yes I'll have this for the main course. xx
I think the connection between these humans and our animal cousins shows a divine gift from God. It's truly amazing! As far as the few misunderstandings, I am thankful everyone came through it.
Wild animals must remain wild for their survival ❤️
*I liked the part where he told us how the lioness surprised the photographer.*
6:34 Amazing picture
Haha OMFG that Gorilla! He’s like “hey I know what y’all are here for, check this out” *strikes pose
I just loved all of the completely wild, "Tame" animals in this video. I might have been born at night, but not last night
"Run from a pack of wolves" "Run from a bear" "Pet a wild fox" Yeah, no. You won't outrun wolves or bears, and foxes are half-insane; they switch from chill to "I'll fucking murder you" mode so fast that a person who isn't used to those mood swings will likely panic when that happens to them in the wild.
Mood swings like a woman with menopause
Lol

Agreed!! Amazing silverback gets vogue!!!! Wow
This was an absolutely breathtaking video
thanks
I wish you had been more factual than comically, it's a good giggle but I bet the story behind these scene is facinating
I would be endlessly flattered if a wild animal chose to interact with or came close to me. When any cat allows me to pet, I am over the moon because of it. 🥰
Cats are one of the most destructive things to wildlife.
@@ravenmeyer3740 Nothing Can be any worse than your negative predisposition who seems ignorant of what Nature's scheme for wildlife is. You should stay away from this subject altogether, with all due respect, of course! 🙏
Due to all of the the things I’ve seen people do to wildlife, things that would give you nightmares, is the reason I make these statements. Witnessing these things might give you a negative perspective too. If it doesn’t, then you are a stronger person than I am.
Wow I liked this video a lot..so cute encounters with wild animals
This is phenomenal footage! Thank you! All I can say is Oh WOW! Beautiful and unforgettable compilation, Many thanks!
This is why being a cameraman is the most dangerous job Respect to them
2:26 The squirrel felt something particular in common , both had the same hair style
Esses fotógrafos tem muita coragem; se arriscam muito. Acho fascinante o que eles fazem
Unbelievable photography 😱
The Gorilla be like " is this okay? pose" photographer: Excellent!
