They understand just like humans from basic levels. Obviously they don't live until their 18 and move out like wtf? Humans were the same thing back then. Mothers were at age 10 or even younger sometimes and mostly boys grew until before they hit double digits and grew on their own..Come on man. Humans are the most intellectual animals but were still animals. So are they. They can live somewhat of the life we live.
Her parent was grieving the loss of her mate. They mate for life.
They do, however, many species that mate for life will also mate with other partners while only raising babies with their mate. This is because males want to spread their genes as much as possible and females want to prevent potential illnesses their mate has from being spread to her offspring so she can potentially raise more babies! Same. My son turned 18 today. This man teaching his baby goose to fly - oh it got me. 😭
It touched me as well.. he could put aside his pride, he knew what others would think (i laughed a lot his "idiot" remark and even i realized, yes it looks idiot or somrthing from a distance:)) but still he did it.. its not love as todays humans live, its not something we the regular people live.. its directly something from Allah.. we name it "rahmet", which has a very wide range of meaning..

We had “Papa” goose for 14 years. Incredible animals. My wife walked out on the deck and Papa Goose came out of his little house, gave a double honk, and fell over dead. We think it was a Thank You fir caring for him. The female we had purchased for him so he wouldn’t be alone cried for days. It was a sad time.
Damn, thats sad

Pretty sad tho.

@Bruce Bratschi I'm sad and I didn't even know your goose. I'm so sorry for your loss. Boy, 14 years. Of course it doesn't matter how long when you love a pet, but what a big piece of your life ( and heart)

She was like a teenager for a minute & wanted to test her freedom! She wasn't having it! What a amazing story. 🦆🧔
I was just about to type this!!!🤩 I wondered if people caught on to that typical teenage rebellion "runaway but come back home to eat and be snuggled" behavior🤣 She even got her old room back😄🤣 It's easy to see that she wanted to be back with her family where she's loved unconditionally🥰 She reminded me of a rich spoiled teen who went into the city to hang out with other teenagers, only to feel like she doesn't fit in, and their lives are not as good as hers(by her standard)🐤 She maybe also realized that those other geese teenagers don't have a loving home like hers to go back to. Little sis looked too happy to get back to her life where she's loved😍🥰 back
When the goose flew out to the river she probably thought he would follow her. She just sees him as a odd looking goose. But still her father
@@Mirokuofnite Looks like she made herself visible at the time when she was ready to come home🤔🤷🏽♀️ I do wonder if when she saw humans did she start acting out on purpose to be noticed🤔 Geese are intelligent. I absolutely love these stories . I rescued a drowning bee from the canal where my boat is . Fed him honey for about 4 days then released him again. I hope he’s free and feeding on the plants all score my mooring and beyond . Look after the natural world we still have before it’s too late
Awwwwwa! That's sooo sweet! You must be an awesome person, a bee! I love you cause we needs the bees!
Rescuing a bee?.. wow thats one beautiful heart!.. most would pass by, you know its "only" a bee they say.. thank you for being this way..
It can done! There was a native bee that accidentally flew into our lanai one autumn day (I'm in Florida), and it must've been in for a bit. Found the blue-green iridescent bee on the ground, lethargic. Grabbed a cotton swab and dipped it into hummingbird food, and placed the bee onto the tip of the swab. The bee drank, rested, drank, rested. After an hour, the bee then climbed off the swab and onto my hand, where it began cleaning itself (good sign). After a little while, it went back to the swab, on its own, to sip more nectar. This species of bee is known to hover, much like a hummingbird is able to do, and is extremely agile and fast in flight. The bee lifted off the swab, and I smiled, thinking it was no longer starving, and felt better. So, now it was departing. Instead, the bee hovered at my eye level, facing me, as though taking a long look at the creature who was trying to feed it. I felt the bee was studying me, and also know bees are capable of distinguishing between various animals. But perhaps most interestingly, bees can also distinguish between human faces, too. And that's what I began to wonder if the bee actually was doing; memorizing my face in relation to that area and what it experienced. I'd like to think I did see this particular bee again over those months in autumn...or perhaps that bee's offspring. I'll never know, but now I understand how feeding a bee can make a difference not just for the bee, but to a habitat. 🐝 💚

The fact that he was teaching her how to fly just like we teach our babies how to walk, and it encouraged her made my heart happy🥰🥰 It was also reassuring and funny when he said he got a call about a goose acting differently from all the other geese🤣 Being raised by her very loving, attentive, human Dad I would suppose she would be very different from the other geese🤣🤣 Beautiful story🥰🥰 I really love people who take care of life's beautiful feather children😍🥰
Almost ALL of my family of feathereds are rescues or surrenders or adoptions. THEY ARE MY FAMILY. I AM WITH THEM 24 /7. I Care for their eggs and young to ensure predators do not wipe out their enduring genetic legacy. The minute an egg is laid it is destroyed by otters, crows or ravens , ducklings are sucked up like skittles and M&Ms by otters and giant catfish and large mouth bass..They cannot repopulate without our intervention . My neighbours and I work as a team to make sure, the beloved lakefront waterfowl, that we feel belongs to all of us, continue to thrive and bring us joy and beauty for years to come. The ducks adopted me, they hang in my yard and get nutritious appropriate food and clean water to bathe in fresh straw to nap on , I have created a safe space for the lakes waterfowl
PS they're all out there right now going quackers. Oh they're beneath my window asking for breakfast gotta go bye!

animals arent "cruel" they have a very survivalist existence. Instinctively there was some reason to reject the gossling likely to parse limited resources and energy on others theoretically. Anyway, that's where lovely, compassionate people, like this man, can contribute their time and resources to aid animal suffering.
Really depends. There's lots of evidence of at least large mammals demonstrating cruelty. Chimpanzees, kangaroos, dolphins. Edit: Almost forgot about penguins. There's lots of other animals with observable behavior of cruelty, but I digress. My point is: What even is cruelty? Understanding what is cruel? Does a human child understand that it is cruel to rip the legs off a grasshopper? Do some adults?
Of course the goose is the boss. If anyone has the chance to make friends with a goose, take it, because they can be better defenders than a lot of dogs 😂😂
