You don’t see Spielberg or Nolan tripping over themselves during interviews, promising how awesome the directors cut will be if we wait. With Zack, people say it’s never his fault if the movie doesn’t turn out well. It’s always the studios fault. But can we really blame Warner Bros or Netflix EVERY single time? Whatever his next film will be, I’m sure we’ll see the same song and dance. It’ll release to mixed reviews, but then he’ll explain to us how it wasn’t his true vision. And we need to wait for the R-rated Directors cut. Again. It’s almost a formula now.

  • For me, the worst part is the abysmal lack of art direction. It feels like an Indie Game made by a small studio with free assets. Everything is so mismatched and disjointed. The non-stylised space Amish, the WH40K Imperium/Star Craft Terran stylised army, senators and the dead king wearing costumes that look like they are 19th Century Monarchy Halloween-store costume (the Princess is the worst offender here) mixed with Roman Empire (the togas), and the Rebels looking like space Mad Max driving Cylone ships (from Battlestar Galactica). In part one we also had a random space gryphon and space drider (that one on the pseudo cyberpunk planet that the discount Jedi did fight) and that random alien race that Motherworld destroyed (I liked the Alien design, hated their architecture though). And you can clearly see that this originated from what Snyder pitched to Disney as a Star Wars movie. While it all could be forgiven if it was a small, indie studio taking their first steps in the industry, doing their first sci-fi flick - that could be forgiven. But not when it's Netflix, Snyder and that amount of money.

I love that emptiness of space, gravity is real thing there and preserving the air and food which are more precious than gold and diamonds. All ships in that show don't use space warps to cover the space, and battles looks great when sound does not travel in space, and you see only strings of fire from guns and silent during reaping of spaceships. Rebel Moon lack consistency to how universe works in general and it is more fantasy than science fiction. Zack Snyder should include magic and wizards in his show and it would have helped to explain why it is working in Zack Snyder's universe.

  • I'm not a Snyder Bro, but I'll never forget the different reactions my wife and I had watching "300." I looked at the Spartan warriors and thought, "Yeah, that's a good idea not to weigh yourself down with body armor and to use a circular broad shield instead, because it gives you both protection and mobility. And the shields have indentations on each side, so you can thrust forward with your sword or spear. Yeah, these Spartans were ingenious warriors!" Meanwhile, my wife thought, "Shirtless men in leather speedos with opera capes? This is the GHEYEST movie I've ever seen!" It just shows you the divide between the sexes and what their priorities are!

  • You know modern writers, and maybe in LA more-so, are divorced from the natural world, or world of normal people, physics and economics (reality) when the premise of the movie rests on a warship of a galactic empire taking the time, energy and resources to not only 'check in' on a group of farmers several times in a year, but to eventually come collect grain planted and harvested by several tens of people BY HAND. Normal, modern farming is hard work. Farming BY HAND is back breaking.

  • The only reason KK made the right call was simply becuase there was not enough of everything she wanted in a film to begin with. That is how she came to give the Fams the next three SW movies. There was so much more she wanted to give, she had to do a Solo and Jones movie as well. There is apparently still enough left over for at least another 6 films.

  • To me, the worst part of it all is that feast scene after the harvest. It really highlights how void of story this thing is, and how hard he tries to pretend there is. They come back to the village, nobody in the village knows any of them. They establish that the enemy will come in 5 days, and 3 of those are dedicated to harvesting all the magical grain. It is a lot so they need everyone to pitch in to get it done in time. So they do that, then have the feast to celibate or whatever. Then this little girl starts going through the "heroes" one by one, describing who they are and why they are so great, and handing out these sown crest banners that are personalized for each of them. My question is, when the fuck did she get to know these people so well? They have done nothing so far, and certainly nothing that would make her view them the way she describes them. Also, when did she have time for all of this? In the span of 3 days, she got to know them on a deep personal level, have the idea to make these gifts AND actually make them. Why was she not in the field helping out? She talks as if a whole year played out over a weekend, and it makes no sense. It also makes me somewhat upset when I Imagine her sitting there sowing instead of harvesting, and people going "Ey, can you please help out? We are kinda pressed for time here.."

    • My wife sews stuff as a hobby (stupid sewing machines are expensive as hell too!). When I saw that, I looked at her and started giving her grief because this little girl in a village that uses hand tools to do everything apparently whipped together all of these intricately detailed banners that are personalized for everyone in a day or two around her helping with the grain and training with weapons. That was weeks of cutting and sewing work to make all of those in real life.

      @robertw8897@robertw88979 күн бұрын
    • @@robertw8897 Yeah, don't know how much time it takes to sew something like that, but I know it's not something you do over a weekend while doing other stuff as well. The only way this could even be remotely possible is if the days on this moon is a lot longer than normal, so when they say 3 days, that's more like a month or something. But that doesn't really work either, cause the nights would be longer too, which would kill the wheat. Even if we ignore all that, I still don't see where she got to see all this bravery and skill shes talking about, when all they did was harvesting wheat.
