It’s like a million thoughts are going through his mind at once, trying to process that the human is actually ‘Not’ a threat, and now realizing why he was restraining his neck. In addition to being exhausted/hurt, I think there was a little moment of respect there. The way a wild deer, elephant, horse, etc. will convey a similar sentiment after being helped in the wild. Beautiful creature.
Nah, acho que ele só ficou confuso mesmo, ocorreu uma quebra de padrão ali
As biology further advances, we keep learning more and more about how some animals can pretty much experience the same range of emotions as a humans. Dogs and wolfs are in that category. There was definitely some thought of gratitude or something there.

BIG FACTS. REAL HERO'S.
It is illegal to kill a trapped wolf, however, it is not illegal to set a trap that catches a wolf. Trappers often catch protected animals or animals that they can't take because they've hit their bag limit. Reporting the catch of a protected animal often isn't necessary, so trappers usually take care of the release themselves instead of wasting the time of a conservation officer. These guys are likely just law-abiding trappers, taking animals for fur (or likely skulls in this case; that "loop" is called a "death ray" and is used to avoid putting a bullet through the valuable portions of the animals' head) and not some altruistic poacher chasers. That's also probably why they sounded so impatient at the end; catching a wolf means you missed a harvest and they want to reset their trap as quickly as possible

They were probably the ones who set the trap and only released it because it's illegal to take a wolf. It happens all the time; most trappers release the unwanted animals themselves instead of wasting an conservation officer's time That's also probably why they're so upset when it won't leave; they're waiting to reset/take the trap so they can go check their other traps and harvest good animals (likely coyotes or foxes)
My grandfather pulled a trap off of a female wolf back in the late 70s. Casted her broken leg, fed her and healed her up and returned her to the wild. One year later she returned to show him her puppys. Nine months after that returned alone and lived her life out with him. Her name was lady and she stayed for nine more years. There is nothing like the Alaska wilderness

Random as fuck, but that's exactly the ending to a Louis L'Amore old western adventure book called Galloway Sackett. Basically, during the beginning he's escaped capture and surviving off the land, injured, naked, and cold. This lone emaciated wolf keeps showing up in the distance and he keeps leaving scraps of food at each campfire he makes. Eventually the climax is a tense showdown in the woods where the protagonist and antagonist are sneaking around the woods trying to shoot one another, unable to see eachother and slowly getting closer until they realize they're right there. It gets tense and shit but the wolf comes out of nowhere and saves the main dude. Rad book.
Those traps are so cruel poor animals that happened to one of my dog's someone left a trap out and she got stuck in it took us three days to find her and by the time we did her leg was so infected we couldn't save her because she got blood poisoning I can't imagine how much she suffered and she was the sweetest dog I miss her so much

Not confused at all, in fact, he playfully holding to the rope.
Wolves have a lot of stamina, probably the most among all of the animals, and of course one of the smartest ones too, a lot smarter than the domesticated dogs. At first he didn’t know the man’s intentions, then very quickly he realized the man is there to help him. He purposely didn’t make a move while he the man was trying to release him. Right there he knew the man is there not to harm but to help him only. And after the release, that wolf acts like not confused at all but calm and collected finally finding a human who he can trust and maybe mingle or play with a bit. 😆
