Speical thanks to Trent Lenkarski and Joel Haver for acting in this video! When we arrived in L.A. they opened up not only their homes to us, but their holes 🙂 ...metaphorically. Like their hearts... heart holes. For real though we've been dying to do a "Joel Haver/Ebsynth" style animation for quite a while now but we just needed the right idea video. We finally came up with one... "A sketch with Trent and Joel in it" ...that was the idea... so we ran with it! Then we added all the little Grinch sprinklings on top and walla! Hope you enjoy the sketch! This took about two hour to film and probably around 40 plus hours to animate... even WITH a program assisting us. Serious respect to Joel and anyone else who has gone through the turmoil of creating one of these because we seriously doubt we could survive another! Hope y'all had a good Christmas and have a Happy New Year!!

If I recall, in the Jim Carrey film, Jim sung the song himself too, you'd think it was multiple people but it was all Jim. Considering how much of a nightmare the makeup process was (he compared it to being buried alive every day, it was that bad. They brought in a torture endurance trainer to help him, I'm not joking), it's amazing he still had the energy to sing a song too

In the first drawings, the Grinch WAS grey. He only later was drawn green. It's similar to the Incredible Hulk being grey but the ink of Issue #1 looked green after drying.

When I realized what the point of the video was I almost cried. The comedy is great but the truth is outstanding. And there was no comedic "PSYCH!!" at the end. It was real and genuine. I really appreciate that.
3:13 For some reason “the highest we ever got was 3” is so much funnier than if everyone had put 1 or 0. Like it just makes it more realistic somehow. ONE GUY gave you some pity points, but he still only rated you a THREE. And our sample size was THREE THOUSAND.
I remember as a child hearing a version of Mr. Grinch on the radio that sounded like it was sung by a drunk, old man who’d lived a hard life. If I remember correctly, all of the lyrics were the same, but at the end of the song he burps out, “Yer goin’ tuh hell!” I’ll never forget it.

The ending was well to put. Through all the insults and harassment, when the Grinch goes outside wishing that people could see him for the person he is now and not the person he was before, it fits with the New Years eve release date. What's even better is how despite all this, he still has someone to care about and who cares about him, which is the most important thing of all.
I honestly just thought he was gonna jump since he was by the end of the cliff edge.

I absolutely love how it straight up goes from cartoon evil grinch to realistic normal person who did something good, and is listening to a song that shows how everyone see him before he gave the presents back. But the end is wholesome man I love this video, Max telling The Grinch “I love you”, shows how much that statement really means to The Grinch with how he visibly reacts.

You can definitely tell that they were finding and chasing the humor when they made this one. Cuz it starts where the song is entirely new to the Grinch, or at least that's how he makes it seem, and then suddenly he knows its like a new version of a beloved classic. I love stuff like that, no need to hide how the funny is made, in fact that's often where the best humor lies. Sometimes bloopers where the actors are improv-ing through a scene to great comedies can be even funnier than the actual version that airs, I feel Always Sunny really nails this with their bloopers.

What's great about that line is that they reference the "seasick crocodile", which is supposed to tell you normal humans that's he's not just green, but a nauseous green. Which of course would still be gray to the dog.

As a musician I just want to give mad props to the creators of the backing. This works so well because the music is so convincing, well done and seamlessly stitched around the spoken word comedy. It’s an achievement way, way above average KZhead creator grade.

@@samstits8982I cut my hand in half with an axe about a year ago, and they gave me so much morphine as I have a tolerance from my pain meds for my back anyway that I had to get my stepdad to help me stand, I wasn’t really in much pain, just goofing out and listening to music lol

I played this through my VCR and taped it after the end of the cable tv rip of the grinch that I've watched every christmas since 1997. It is now part of a decades-long tradition.

The ending almost made me cry because even though the Grinch changed into a loving person after the end of the movie, people still only remember him as the evil guy who stole Christmas. No matter how hard he tried to be a good person, people still see him as the opposite. But despite everyone hating him, the only one who still loves him is Max.
Kinda like Scrooge.
