Combat Vehicles: High-tech and dressed in steel: the best and most legendary tanks of the last several decades and today.
Massive, heavy, and very dangerous: combat vehicles are still the symbol of armed conflict. And since the military has always taken a leading role in technological development, the combat vehicles of today are all high-tech machines.
Combat vehicles come in countless variations: as battle tanks or troop transporters, with steel or rubber tracks, fast and agile or heavy and well-armored.
We examine the most extraordinary combat vehicles in the world.
Combat tank experts consider the Leopard 2 the best compromise of firepower, armor, and mobility. Until 2017, it had a reputation for being nearly indestructible. Not one Leopard 2 was lost in either Afghanistan or in the Kosovo War, thus contributing to the myth of the tank’s invulnerability. This has changed in the war in Syria, but the Leopard 2A7 is still one of the best tanks in the world.
Another legendary tank, although from another time: the armored fighting vehicle VI Tiger, known as the Tiger I. It was the most dreaded tank of World War II. In its day, the tank was so big and its gun so powerful that opponents barely had a chance. Nevertheless, the Tiger was its own worst enemy ….
The Merkava Mark IV’s unusual design makes it an exotic tank. But this is also what provides its crew with unmatched protection.
The T-54/55 is the Toyota Corolla of tanks. No other tank was built as frequently. What makes the Russian tank so successful?
The CV90 is the most modern and versatile infantry fighting vehicle in the world. Countless versions based on the same basic model have been built for various customers.

  • Merkava being the safest tank for the crew is just a carefully constructed myth, the same way Tiger being 'indestructible' was just a myth even gets mentioned in this video. Merkava was designed with it's fuel tanks and engine in front of the crew with the intention of stopping the HEAT ammunition very popular during the time of the tanks creation. Isreal didn't have access to some of the advanced materials required for making composite armour other rich countries did so it went it's own path, and for the original purpose it did it's job. The layers of this fuel tank + a small layer of armour + engine would trigger the HEAT round early and would be too much distance for it to travel therefore protecting the crew. Against a modern APFSDS round fired by pretty much any modern tank though this frontal 'protection' would count about as much as layers of paper. One of these rounds would probably pass through the entire tank shredding the crew on it's way out. Not to mention a hit to this frontal engine block is going to rend the tank immobile almost 100% of the time with a frontal hit, meaning follow up shots against a stationary target, ensuring anyone still left in the tank has no way to retreat back. Having all the heat generation at the front also makes it very easily detectable to other tanks, there is a good reason every other tank has it's engine at the back. The gun on Merkava is also outdated compared to modern guns and lacks the penetration against the newest armour. I mean at bashing on poor people in the desert who have nothing but RPGs and old missile systems I guess it's a good tank. Calling it 'one of the best or if not the best in the world' though is pretty laughable to anyone who has any knowledge of tanks.

    @user-propositionjoe@user-propositionjoe4 жыл бұрын
    • Thing is that tank generate a lot of heat on the front of the tank that very easy detected by thermal imaging device and its one of the worst tank. Also the front armor plate are not really protected and its where the engine,transmission,fuel tanks and driver are placed so doesnt really consider world best tank btw leo 2 are already good example of best tank in world. The tank overall are not really good its seems doesnt have E.R.A that will protect the crew against ATGM or RPG at least some tank old tank like soviets T-72 or T-80 with some modification are still good protected tank even for today standards. So my opinion is thats not a very good tank with bad designed tank i more like Leopard 1 or m60 for good old tank that still can fight better

      @Admiral.Gustaf@Admiral.Gustaf4 жыл бұрын
    • You still choose to ignore some other facts. Unlike many other popular tanks, the Merkava had a very good mine protection since its construction. Anything similar wasn't introduced on the Leopard 2 until the 2A6M in 2005, or on the Abrams with the TUS kit in 2006/07. Also, other tanks have been vulnerable against HEAT ammunition hitting anything else but the turret aswell. One Challenger 2 has been penetrated in the lower frontal glacis by a RPG, not sure if that could've happened with the Merkava front engine layout aswell. If the driver is dead or seriously injured, the tank tends to stay immobilized for a good period of time aswell. The difference is, the Merkava crew can evacuate the tank through the back, while others can't and are trapped inside. Plus, while it's true the Mark I and Mark II didn't have composite armor, modern versions do and don't lack behind other tanks at all. Also it's the first tank which has been equipped with APS and prove its capability in actual combat. The gun is outdated, but it all depends on the ammo. The same could be said about the Abrams and any older (pre 2A6) Leopard 2 variant aswell as many other tanks.

    • @@SuperGeronimo999 So your arguement about what I said is that all older tanks had the same problems haha. Makes sense dude. The points are relevant about the Merkava today.

      @user-propositionjoe@user-propositionjoe4 жыл бұрын
    • Well no, older tanks weren't as save in terms of mine protection. Also, if the tank is disabled, their crew were stuck in there. On the Merkava you're not stuck.

      @SuperGeronimo999@SuperGeronimo9994 жыл бұрын
    • @@SuperGeronimo999 Every tank has an escape hatch normally in the bottom. Also running out of your tank after it's been disabled by another tank is probably gonna mean you're getting shot. Far better to have the engine in the back where it's protected and you can reverse if the tank takes a hit.

After all during the last decades there was no occasion where state-of-the-art tanks fought against each other. Of course tanks have to be used in combined arms warfare supported by infantry, IFVs, APCs, artillery, attack helicopters, air-defence units and own airplanes to fight a modern conventional war.

    • Shahrul Nizam Turkey bought old German Leopard 2A4 tanks a long time ago, the current German tanks of the Leopard 2A7 version have better armor (especially for protection against mines and IEDs, as well as better frontal armor), a better (longer gun, thus more armor-penetration with KE shells due to the higher velocity) gun, better ammunition against tanks, better aiming technology and a lot of other modernizations compared to the old version used by Turkey.

But professionalism of the army is what decisive for victory. Its a linkage system that follows the left side of the tank back to the brakes. Sounds more lite the brakes needs adjustments. But my memory could be wrong.
