    • He should been singing since most bands when bands were in just getting in style always had a background singer. From now on Tyler has to make albums with background singing Josh clearly has the talent for it and it enhances their formula. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not trying to disrespect them, but this unplugged showed me that they need to expand their music style. Tyler been should’ve made at least a stack of song ballades and have Josh add more elements into their records besides the trumpet and production effects

    • @@The1OnlyEnigma Also, I'm loving the additional band members for live performances. It makes all the difference in the world to hear actual instruments instead of prerecorded, looped tracks running in the background. plus, it gives them more credibility for the ppl who say they're not a 'real band' - I hope they make the new boys PERMANENT!!!

    @chechantal@chechantal Жыл бұрын
  • If anyone ever thought Josh was only the drummer, this is your chance to reconsider. This video is cold hard proof that Josh contributes a full 50% of what's happening on the stage. Even I assumed Josh wasn't as acclimated with some of the technical stuff, but Josh was singing and programming beats and playing piano keys and multitasking like crazy, which is hard af. Of all the people on the planet, it's crazy how fate landed Josh next to Tyler. These guys are so 100% in sync. Their gazes keep locking in to ensure the operation's moving smoothly, and it looks like they're so deep in concentration and focus. This is taking music-making to the next level. Tyler's a genius, but Josh has done more than enough to prove he's not just a drummer. Fantastic. This is talent we usually don't see from mainstream bands. Anyways, these guys didn't get "lucky", and they're not famous for being famous -- they got to where they are with raw unrivaled skill, and probably thousands of hours of practice and racking their brains coming up with ways to distinguish themselves. There are no words

    • No, I don't think my comment above adequately describes the phenomenon that is Twenty One Pilots. It's just mindless rambling. Numerically, there are quite a few words above, but I was using the expression "no words" in the sense that there aren't many combinations of words to do this performance justice -- as far as I go. Maybe someone else has the right words, but I certainly don't. I can only say that I recognize their talent, but I wish I had a better way to explain it.

As Tyler said, they always perform with recorded back tracks, then add the finishing touches live. But here they created something from the ground up, on the spot, as we watched and enjoyed. They have become so much more over the years since there humble beginnings. Well done boys! Oh, and Josh my friend, you are no longer just "The Drummer"! • (4:04) In this part I just cried. How they look at each other, the delivery of their vocals, how they complement each others voices so well, I can feel the bond between them. I can hear the melancholy in their voices. Eveything and everyone even time itself stops for a moment, just leaving Tyler and Josh with that calm and nostalgic synth in the background. Just beautiful. At this part of the song this is no longer Stressed Out, this is friendship, empathy, and most of all, one the most unbelievebly human feelings I've ever felt. This is an experience. This is twenty øne piløts.

  • Crazy, this isn't JUST a live performance. This really is a reimaging. Meaning Tyler actually had to recompose entire songs. I don't know if some of this was improv but it seems like a lot of it was choreographed and rehearsed. So that more aggressive version of Car Radio was recomposed from scratch -- akin to pretty much writing a new song, instrumentally. Anyway, I really hope they release this performance on Spotify!!!!!!!!!!!

    @alexanderhdmi7704@alexanderhdmi7704 Жыл бұрын
    • On the tøp instagram, Tyler wrote that they had to memorize over 175 musical cues for this show! That’s insane planning and practice and to do it all live without pre recorded tracks is so different from a live show. And to take 4 of their most popular songs (Stressed Out, Tear in My Heart, Car Radio, Heathens) and make me love them even MORE is crazy. Stressed Out has become overplayed for me personally and I’ve even wondered if the boys still enjoy playing it… and so to see that particular song reimagined and recreated is creativity at its PEAK! Love these boys. Love this band.

Be it the stage dressing, covered in white lilies and little else, or the musicians they brought in to that show, such as a cello player that is given a large role in more than a few songs, or some of the Meat puppets, coming on to play their songs, plateau and lake of fire, or the choise of songs to perform: my girl by lead belly, the man who sold the world by David Bowie, Jesus wants me for a sunbeam by the vaselines... etc Nirvana unplugged was anything but "whatever" I think he is refering to Alice in Chains much rather than Nirvana, that is if you are only looking at unplugged concerts that were a hit, not the later stuff noone cares about. Famously Layne Staley walked out on stage late, wearing dark sunglasses and not saying a word to the audience until after 3 or 4 songs. Having just shot up a large dose of heroine

  • I liked top when I listened to the recorded versions. But it was only when I started watching their live concerts that I understood the true essence of top. I think that in concerts and in live versions like this, that's when they bring a complete and unique experience. Above all, their interaction with the public, the affection and respect they show to them, the bound and proximity to the crawd they encourage to sing along, making people participate in their songs as they are truly part of it... wow!! For me, these points are what make the experience of top live infinitely better than recorded. To me, it's like the recorded versions, although perfect, are just very good songs, but when they play live, it's a work of art that goes far beyond the music, it's a complete masterpiece to hear, see, feel and to live.

Twenty One Pilots music, sometimes sad but mostly uplifting and with such meaningful lyrics, really kept me going. I would tear up while listening just because I was enjoying it so much. When I had to get MRI’s, they would ask what I wanted to listen to and I’d say Twenty One Pilots and most times they were like, huh? They would find them and afterwards say how much they liked it. • Joshua Dun... You have outdone yourself. I absolutely pressed my headphones to my ears just to get a clearer sound of Josh singing. I can't tell you how proud I am of him for coming out of his comfort zone. Been watching these boys grow for like 6 years. I'm excited to see what the future holds!

  • This is brilliant. To me this is a natural progression from Nirvana using distortion on Man Who Sold the World. Nirvana used the same philosophy. Don't just play the hits with the same arrangements as on the album, but on acoustic, but make new and different versions of songs. If they need to use electronics to do it, more power to 'em. Originality is more important than the acoustic rule. Besides Page & Plant broke that rule first.

  • This is incredible. Full Stop. I am blown away by this performance. I'm a fan of twenty-one pilots, and don't know how I missed this, but the talent of Tyler & Josh is just so FAR ABOVE many other artists, and not just vocally and instrumentally, but this ability to create these brand new versions & mixes of their songs, right on the spot. This shows what an insane amount of practice & dedication is needed to perform at a level like this. I can think of very few other artists and bands right now who are also at this level of talent. This show is absolutely amazing and I can't stop watching it! I love the personality, too, that comes out while they are creating "Ride!" So fun to watch Tyler & Josh interact with their audience! They seem incredibly humble, as well.
