  • The first Rubik's Cube I got way back when included a solution booklet teaching the beginner method. It did not include the daisy and used the method Jperm described for the last layer instead of the OLL/PLL used here. It also went from green to blue instead of white to yellow, which I have stuck with out of habit. It's interesting to see how Rubik's has changed their solution guides over time.

We share a spreadsheet to compare our times and he is making me get more in tune with the advanced methods so I can keep my times (3x3, 4x4, and megaminx) slighter better than his. • I think one of the tricky things about M moves is that it moves the centers, which in a way act like a 3D coordinate system. Beginners (such as me when I started learning how to solve a Rubik's cube) might be afraid of rotating the coordinate system even if the surrounding pieces are already aligned.

    • Also, with very cheap beginner cubes (like the one I have), it's pretty hard to turn the center without turning one of the sides with it, so it's almost like if I had to do R L' to do an M.

  • fun fact: the alg they use for permuting edges (F2 U LR' ...) is functionally the same as the RUS Uperm (R2 U S' U2 S U' R2) (just from a different angle and rotated differently). If you track all the peices, they are excactly the same, a bit like how the corner permutation alg they teach is the same as the normal Aperm but with different fingertricks and from a different angle!

  • Dear J perm, My name is Blake. I have been watching all of your videos I can find, (and I love them all). I think you are the best KZhead cuber out there! I’ve gotten into cubing for a while now, I’ve solved 3x3 in 30 seconds, and I have solved a 9x9 before too! I am now working on megaminx, I even made it my passion project for school, I can solve it, but I would love to get faster at F2L+S2L, and wondering if you could help me. Thanks for reading this, even if I sent this a couple months ago I would love to talk to you! Bye!

  • I just started out 2 weeks ago. Was able to solve the cube in 30 min using your beginners guide (Awesome tutorial btw) I got 1:30 min after 1 week and then I learned F2L in 1 week that cut down my time by 10 seconds (for now) In the mean time I just started 2-look OLL and PLL. I can say that your guides on everything I just said is overall much better than the tutorial with this trainer cube. I mean the algorithm where you use M a lot, is so much easier then what they show in the little guide book.

So that’s what? 30 cubers he taught and they watched his video 2 million or so times each hahahhaha! Jk of course! I do wonder how many people he actually taught. It’s an amazing number.

  • This method is actually how I first learned how to solve it! I do remember the first step of pll’s alg was a different version of an a perm (R’ F R’ B2 R F’ R’ B2 R2 U’) and the edge insertion method you talked about was what they taught too! Fun fact, the U perm is actually the super fast u perm he covered in another video, just from a different orientation

  • when you learn to solve the cube (I'm intentionally not saying Rubik's cube because I'm referring to cubes of other brands as well), there is a certain point where you already automated your moves and can solve a speedcube by just using mostly muscle memory, but when you get your hands on a slow cube at that point, you need to do the solve using your head because your muscle memory goes faster than the cube can, which makes it much harder to solve the cube

  • 11:18 The reason why M moves aren't taught to beginners is probably because most beginners will start with a really bad cube that can barely turn. At least that was the case for me😅, if i had to do M moves on my first cube I'd probably quit immediately 😂

    @hugz1688@hugz16884 ай бұрын
    • That would be a good excuse if they wanted to make it easier, but on the cube it comes with (I own the same cube) it's pretty easy to do m moves even with the included the tightness of the cube, and even with my roux practice in m moves, it honestly would've been similar even for a beginner to just use m moves it. That or just teach a sune then orient and permute corners since it's easy to do compared to cpll and epll, like in jperms own guide.
