  • you can see the Baystars' manager peeking in at 1:01. he's a legend in Yokohama not only for his electric hairstyle, but his dedication to the team. His career as a pitcher overlaps with the "dark era" of the Baystars, and actually had a chance to transfer to the Hanshin Tigers. However, after hearing the fans wish for him to stay, he decided to remain in Yokohama. When asked in an interview whether he could have won more games if he played in a different team, he replied "no. because I'm Yokohama's Miura, nothing else."

Your pitching though process, your pitching form insight, your batters analysis, how you adjust your pitches while practicing and SOOOO MUCH MORE!!! It is truly appreciated and highly valued. I NEVER played baseball, nor did I even care to watch baseball. But my son ended up playing rec ball at 5yrs old and feel in love. He now plays on a 10U Majors team and maintaining his development can be expensive. Most of the time we can't afford the private instructors. BUT THATS OK with Channel like yours offering to us the elite guidance and knowledge to continue to improve. BIG THANKS AND BE BLESSED!

  • I remember reading a research paper on pitching dynamics. A particular focus was the lead leg action Trevor mentioned. Apparently the technique Trevor uses straightening his leg early tends to produce higher velocities (only by a few MPH, of course). It's a technique favoured in the MLB whereas Asian pitchers generally don't straighten the lead leg. As someone who has never played or watched baseball I'd always wondered why. Cool to see both techniques in action and finally have an answer. Though I would now wonder if it has a disadvantage towards command after that explanation. Love the re-enactment, by the way. It was possibly even better than the real clips.

    @olivialambert4124@olivialambert41249 ай бұрын
    • like he said, his method works for him, each pitcher finds their own style for their training

      @danielzhang1916@danielzhang19169 ай бұрын
    • @@danielzhang1916 Of course. I tried to make clear that point. The main factor is the end result, and plenty of incredibly successful pitchers throw in a terrible way yet get top tier results. The comment was made due to the fact that the specifics of those differences have been looked at in detail, and I've personally read a few thousand words of academic study on them giving me some useful insight. That doesn't mean every pitcher who does it "wrong" should change, often it would ruin other things down the line and destroy their success. But that also doesn't mean studying analysing and understanding the different styles is a useless topic.

      @olivialambert4124@olivialambert41249 ай бұрын
    • @@olivialambert4124 Think of it like degrees of difficulty. Straightening the lead leg will produce (marginally) higher speeds, but it has to be very in sync with the delivery. He has to get the kick up in the proper sequence or he will throw into his bent knee without the forward angle to "halt the motion" and he will lose velocity. Not straightening the lead leg doesn't require that sequencing. Shota fires the lead leg, plants it and thats the end. There's no risk of getting out of sync and losing velocity. Makes sence why Japan, an extremely efficient culture in general, would prefer the motion with less highs, but also less lows.
