I love adding new stuff to competetive games. BUT changing what players know for years to something completely new is in my opinion unacceptable. The same thing happened with Ice, bob and now with the old wood. Not every change is good, every game dev should remember about it
i didn't get the physics changes in tm2 when it was relevant and neither do i now. thanks hylis.
Oh no change a road that wasn’t even meant to be driven on!!!
@@q12aw50a road which has been utilised in a number of custom levels, rendering them broken in some way. This was an unforced error on nadeo's part. They could easily create two types of wood, especially when their properties are so different, and make them notably different in both naming and texturing. At least with ice there was a reason for the changes. It wasn't a great one, if I remember it was to make it less necessary to use action keys for bobsleigh and to make ice wiggling not do anything, but there was a purpose. The purpose behind these actions baffles me. To save space? Which I guess makes sense, but to sacrifice all those tracks that used the surface, for a couple hundred MBs, if that? It's senseless. Saving file space is important, but there should be a give and take. You shouldn't just destroy all those maps to reuse the surface like this. If there was some perceived problem with old wood like there was with ice, I would be more understanding. I can understand not including all the old surface data in the game, as that would balloon the game over time as small tweaks are made, and the reason these things were changed is primarily to make them better. But in this case? They just repurposed and already in use surface that was fine. That had nothing wrong with it. It's callous.
@@q12aw50 Well, the Trackmania devs don't agree with you. They are finally working on a legacy physics system to retain old physics on old maps, and only apply new physics to new one where it is intended. This was the straw that broke the camel's back, finally.
@@q12aw50 L take
A TON of Yannex maps utilize the wooden supports as Driving platforms, a ton of his maps just changed
How about trying the old maps with snow car? that'd be a new challenge to the list.

The amount of content that's gonna release with each following update is gonna be insane. Spring should bring Rally and summer Desert. If in the further future we get Sunrise and TM2 vehicles, there are gonna be like 12 different versions of each campaign. 30 if each vehicle also has reverse and checkpointless.
@@korysovec I wouldn't be complaining! And you know there's gunna be some in the TM community's gunna try it!
Why not add a new material instead of reusing and breaking old maps.
because "save file space"
@@agitated_catcompletely valid reason
@@q12aw50 its literally one surface. it cannot take up that much space, especially compared to the new blocks they added
@@agitated_cat it all adds up
@@q12aw50 it would add up if they made more than 1 new surface per year
changing a pre-existing surface was the worst thing to do
Two types of grass is fine but wood is a no?
I also think it's a totally braindead decision but penalty grass and normal grass is totally different can't really compare
@@Yoda-177Obviously what we need is penalty wood.
@@scorbiot how would that work? Is the wood covered in wood glue? I wouldn't be surprised if they made that. Not like they wouldn't have some spare glue judging by how much they seem to be sniffing and huffing.
Awesome work by you and the community, keep it up!
Nice escape.
Good video! Straight forward content that delivered what I came here to see
Bwoah i made it to an edge video ( for a wood kacky wr but still)
Taking attendance!!! 👇
i like how the snow car appeared in the intro right as you said snow car

This community loves bugs more than regular driving, crappy games
Pretty sure it loves both :P
Cry about it
