My wife took my daughter prom dress shopping and watched a girl crying quietly because her mom had just told her she couldn't afford the dress the girl wanted. My wife said the girl was polite, not bratty, but was just crushed and it got the best of her. The mom was sad too and was trying to convince the girl that the 2nd choice, a cheaper dress, was just a pretty. When the girl went into the dressing room to try the cheaper dress on my wife paid the price difference, asking the clerk to just say it was a discount she would give them. My wife and I celebrate our 28th anniversary in July. What a lucky man I am.

As a music store owner myself, this was a bit painful to watch. The dude is clearly ecstatic to be buying this guitar and made an honest error. I would have given it him for 200 on the spot. Anyway seeing the appreciation he had after the lady paid made it all better!

That's not a music store, it looks like a pawn shop. Their whole business model is ripping off desperate and gullible people and rarely budge on prices. What's worse is that you know they didn't pay anywhere close to $220 for that guitar and are already making a massive profit as it is off it even if they were to knock off 20 bucks for the kid. They're just being hard-asses for the sake of being one.

They are just running a business and instantly offered to put it aside for him to finish paying off instead of refunding his $150 and telling him to go away. They clearly did their best to help him out without losing money (which they require to run, even if it is a business for desperate people). I think they did what they could, times (even in 2019 when this was posted) are tough, give them credit for doing what they could.

@@Gororules When you're already making probably around 200% profit on a sale and you refuse to budge on another 10% to help somebody out that'll pay cash, that's just greed. They're not losing any money on this sale even with the extra 10% off. They'd still be making well over 100% profit. Another 10% discount to one customer isn't going to sink a business. The whole "it's business" excuse is just that, an excuse. What's 20 bucks today? Seriously? I'm in construction, if I could get a bid on a job if I was 20 bucks cheaper, I'd eat the 20 bucks. Beats not getting nothing at all. If I refused to budge on my prices, I won't get many bids and somebody else would just underbid me every time. That's business. That kid could have easily walked and found another guitar somewhere else for cheaper and now this shop just lost the sale. Bigger picture.

I thought the same thing. I paid $250 for a Fender Strat in 1984 and was thrilled, but that was a lot more money than it is today (about $642). Sigmas are decent though, and the kid should enjoy playing it for quite a while.

I'm almost 50 years old but I remember when I was 22 years old and I bought a 1971 Gibson SG from a pawn shop. I was $14 short. I was hoping the guy would cut me a break because it had been hanging in there for a while. Some really old man paid the $14 for me because his son who had died in Vietnam was a guitar player.Tha guitar became my number one guitar for 20 years(I never take it out of the house anymore I only use it for recording purposes if I'm going to a studio or recording in my house). This kind of stuff happens more often than you would think.

One night some guy needed money for drugs and he sold him the guitar for $60.00. He told him he took it from " _The Arcadia Ballroom_ " in New Haven, Ct. He said it belong to Derringer. When the band took a break, he grabbed the guitar without the case! I dont know if its true or not but I got the guitar for $60.00. Wish I kept it. I wound up traded it in for a 1978 Gibson Les Paul Gold top, with humbuckers.

I was once inside a gas station - getting a drink - and a man, woman, and a 7 year old girl came in. It was obvious hard times were on them - and the little girl asked the man for a Fig Newton because the sign said "two for a dollar." He was agitated when he said no - and told the woman to take her outside. When they were out I asked the man if I could buy the Fig Newtons for her - he said yes - and he took two bars and left the cashier. The cashier added the dollar to my bill and I walked out to my car - and the sweetest little voice from behind said - *"thanks mister!"* I turned my head in mid stride like a sasquatch, and gave her a thumbs up - and kept walking to my car. That dollar gave me more joy per penny - than any dollar in my life. In fact - I'm still telling the story.

This reminds me of a very kind man who helped me once...So after falling completely down on my luck, homeless, addicted to Heroin, and living under a bridge, I had found my self begging for change at a local grocery store. I remember it was especially hot that day as I remember, so when a gentleman came over to talk to me I was a bit uninterested at first. As we began to talk we learned that we had a lot more in common then I had first thought. I learned he had learned to finally conquer his addiction, and was also an avid guitarist as well...We literally talked for what seemed like forever, and I remember I told him how much I missed playing, and owning just even one guitar. He then asked me if I was gonna be there in the same spot in 1hr, relectantly I said yes. Well toy surprise he returned in 15 minutes with a guitar that he handed forward to me. He wanted nothing but to pass on his joy he had received from it and to maybe even inspire me, and it did! Even though I still didn't find my path to sobriety right away yet, that guitar and that man's kindness definitely helped steer me home. It still brings tears to my eyes today. Thank you my friend! Edit: I just celebrated 3yrs clean and sober! 2nd: Thank you so incredibly much to all who reached out to me and sent their words of encouragement and kindness. I never expected that in a million years!

I was in line at the pharmacy about 5-6 years ago. In front of me was a woman and at the counter was a young father getting a prescription for his young baby. They bought it out and told him the cost; I believe it was somewhere around $160.00. He was shocked because he could not afford it. You could tell he was embarrassed, and he was about to leave when the woman in front of me stepped up and said she was paying for it. He was so humbled and thankful. I will never forget that act of kindness, because it taught me a life lesson too - I was kind of judging this woman while she was standing there. She was well dressed and had a look of arrogance, at least to me. Boy was I the asshole! She heard him tell the pharmacist his story, and she stepped up with zero hesitation. May God bless her for her kindness and generosity. I thanked her also, but she was humble as well. I learned never to judge anyone that day, because we are all human, and we all have a different story, yet we are all the same. Have a great day and God bless us all. And this woman who helped this young man is awesome. I hope it comes back to her in a big way.

I’ll never forget I was in a 7-11 getting a drink and some other stuff and I was a few bucks short then all of a sudden a homeless man stepped up and paid the rest for me with the last change he had. I came back the next day and tried to find him so I could pay him back but I had no luck. I just started giving money to every less fortunate person I saw. I will never forget that guy and I hope I see you again some day brother!

Actually I just think it's sad that nobody among them decided to share in the joy of the moment for the kid. The kid could not have given more signals that this was a huge moment for him and yes Judy gave the $20 but with a heavy frown and a joyless attitude - even making the kid feel almost guilty for taking it. Sorry, I know this comment will not be popular.... but if you're going to give at least give with a joyful heart. Giving with a frown and a joyless heart is not 100% giving. There I said it. I'm sorry, but why didn't the pawn shop extend the same gesture that the woman did. It's obvious they were aware of how excited the kid was. They were going to let the kid walk out of that shop without the guitar for a lousy $20 bucks. They probably didn't have but $20 in the guitar. The attitude of the pawn shop is what's wrong with this world. The kindness of the woman is our hope things could be better.

Pawn shops are the worst. I lost so many guitars from being too attached to sell them outright but then too busted out to get them out before the end of the terms. Even trying to pay 80% of the interest owed wouldn't budge the assholes I got into...

@@whatspadethinks - To be honest, that sounds more like your problem than the Pawn shop's.... But yeah... They never miss an opportunity when it comes to a "Legal robbery". Can't really blame them for that if you know it going in. The "worst" is the medical profession... You NEED medical care... It's not usually something you "desire" or save for... The prices are ridiculous but worse than that, you don't know the prices until AFTER you owe the money and the bill is in your hand. What other business charges you varying fees without any "menu" of pricing? "You owe whatever we tell you to pay". On top of that, the same procedures carry different pricing depending on who's flipping the bill?... Suddenly the long T.O.A. contract and fixed percentages at a pawn shop seem VERY fair. ;-)

@@_Common_Logic_ No, I take full responsibility because if I needed the dough I should've just sold them outright to a guitar shop or on Craigslist, etc. My point was that once you do business with pawn brokers they hold the cards and can be very draconian in their business practices. But it's their right. I also live in Law Vegas so the sheer number of pawn shops makes it impossible to "work" with them. They have more customers than they can handle so if you want any kind of leeway you're looking up the wrong skirt...

I've been roped into a HIGH interest high risk loan in my younger years while trying to establish credit, and it SUCKED. Needed help from a 3rd party payment plan just to keep it above water. I'm only stating the fact that pawn shops are like any other business when it comes down to it. Especially in Vegas where there is infinite competition, and infinite demand. I assume they are HEAVILY regulated these days, too. If you buy a refrigerator from a home center on credit and fail to make payments, isn't it likely that they will repossess your fridge AND send you to a high-interest collection agency to cover any losses? I doubt that they'll do much to work with you... Now you have warm beer, melted ice-cream, AND some d*ck blowing up your phone for payment... "Or else". If you let your health insurance lapse and try to claim an appendectomy 3 months later, I don't know of a single company that will work with you after you're no longer their responsibility... Or if you fail to pay that auto insurance, I'm SURE the police officer standing at your car window with $$$ signs in his mirrored shades isn't going to work with you. ;-)... It's life. Of course, we take responsibility for it, but part of that is not blaming capitalism in a capitalist society. (NO, I'm not trying to get political on a "feel-good" channel). My obvious rule would be to browse a Pawn shop when you have money and stay the hell away when you don't... At least there's FB Marketplace and Craigslist nowadays when you need to dump those toys at a "reasonable" price if you don't have an attachment to them. Anyway, my only point was that they might not be "The worst".

I run a business and I get people who are short all the time, asking for a break or he's had a tough year, but I have a lot of expensive bills they don't understand and I'm there to make a little money. I give to the local shelter and food bank every year, but I can't put myself out of business giving everything away. You have to draw a line.

I remember those days being that young and completely emptying your pockets to get something 😄. Like this video, when I bought my first amp, I came up short too. The amp cost $99.99 and of course myself being only 17 didn't think about the taxes. I had exactly $100 and came up about $7 short. The guy running the music store went ahead and let me have the amp for $100 and threw in a free cable too.

A kid was crying in a toy store and I offered to pay for a toy he wanted, long story short... the mother told me not to get involved cause her child should know that nothing comes for free and if she couldn't afford to buy it then the child would have to do without it. Lesson learnt

I wouldn't recommend getting involved when it's a toy or frivolous thing. Some kids beg for stuff every time they go to the store and parents try to teach them that money is limited, we can't always get what we want, sometimes we have to wait.

Sounds like that particular mother was down on hard times, but there's another reason a parent might be annoyed when a stranger offers to pay for a toy or snack that their kid is throwing a tantrum over. It reinforces crying as a means of getting what they want. I'm not a parent, but if I were, a stranger rewarding my kid's tantrum would probably piss me off. 😂

This is the sort of thing that gives me hope. While the world seems so full of wrong, betrayal and evil, we have to remember there are still wonderful and kind people out there. Thank you "Judy" for being so generous and kind. This young man seems like such a good person and you can see he truly appreciated the kindness. Musicians always struggle as most come from tough spots and usually poverty as well. That 20 bucks was money well spent and likely will equal many priceless moments as this young musician forges his way forward. Music has saved MY life more than once. I have no doubt had I not taken up the bass guitar I would almost certainly be dead or in prison. There is a very good chance you may have just saved his life. Thank you for that. Please don't ever stop being kind. The world needs this sort of thing so badly right now. God Bless, to you and this young man.

Similar thing happened to me, I was saving for a synth being sold at a not so local music shop that I had my eye on for a while and I would get on the bus now and then just to see if it's still for sale as I collected money for it, so realising it would take me another month or so to come up with the rest of the money if I'm lucky I just thought I'd go in and ask if they could sell it to me for a considerable discount, I said to myself all he could say is no but he didn't he almost instantly said "sure" and then I had the cheek to ask for some midi cables and he gave me those too, I can't describe the joy and I carried it on a bus wrapped in a bin bag. lol I just want to say thank you to that guy wherever you are and I will never forget that for the rest of my life, I still have the synth 20 years later. Now thinking back I wonder if he saw me eyeing up the synth and visiting every so often and probably concluded it himself. Thank you my guy.

Ive actually done that once, paid for a complete strangers petrol at the station, only a $20 tank she was trying to get in touch with her bank since the card was declined, not a good situation to be in so I just asked how much the fuel was and paid it , she was so grateful and even asked for my account number so she could pay me back but I refused, never seen her since or probably ever will.

@@htx_carlos4766 Standard practice is to offer 1/4 the price that they would sell it for give or take. I took in one of those full size Cube Amps (not the micro cube model) with all the effects knobs on it etc, they offered me $40 for it. They sold it for almost quadruple that.

Let's just all hope that pawn shop got what they deserved and are no longer in business. There's a difference between making money to keep the lights on and being an insensitive greedy human being like those pawn shop employees / owners. Like another comment said they most likely paid around 10% of their asking price for that guitar.

I know what this young man is going through, in my life time no one (in my family) ever handed a dollar bill, I started working at the age of 11, (cleaning people yards,)started my own paper route at 12 yr old,Sunday paper is the worst (very heavy), while many students are on summer break, I would have a job scraping gums off underneath student’s desks...if I was there,I would buy him that guitar.

I actually own a Sigma acoustic myself and can completely understand this guy's happiness. They're exceptionally good guitars and looks like he's even got his hands on a vintage one! Awesome video.
My wife took my daughter prom dress shopping and watched a girl crying quietly because her mom had just told her she couldn't afford the dress the girl wanted. My wife said the girl was polite, not bratty, but was just crushed and it got the best of her. The mom was sad too and was trying to convince the girl that the 2nd choice, a cheaper dress, was just a pretty. When the girl went into the dressing room to try the cheaper dress on my wife paid the price difference, asking the clerk to just say it was a discount she would give them. My wife and I celebrate our 28th anniversary in July. What a lucky man I am.

As a music store owner myself, this was a bit painful to watch. The dude is clearly ecstatic to be buying this guitar and made an honest error. I would have given it him for 200 on the spot. Anyway seeing the appreciation he had after the lady paid made it all better!
That's not a music store, it looks like a pawn shop. Their whole business model is ripping off desperate and gullible people and rarely budge on prices. What's worse is that you know they didn't pay anywhere close to $220 for that guitar and are already making a massive profit as it is off it even if they were to knock off 20 bucks for the kid. They're just being hard-asses for the sake of being one.

I thought the same thing. I paid $250 for a Fender Strat in 1984 and was thrilled, but that was a lot more money than it is today (about $642). Sigmas are decent though, and the kid should enjoy playing it for quite a while.

I'm almost 50 years old but I remember when I was 22 years old and I bought a 1971 Gibson SG from a pawn shop. I was $14 short. I was hoping the guy would cut me a break because it had been hanging in there for a while. Some really old man paid the $14 for me because his son who had died in Vietnam was a guitar player.Tha guitar became my number one guitar for 20 years(I never take it out of the house anymore I only use it for recording purposes if I'm going to a studio or recording in my house). This kind of stuff happens more often than you would think.

One night some guy needed money for drugs and he sold him the guitar for $60.00. He told him he took it from " _The Arcadia Ballroom_ " in New Haven, Ct. He said it belong to Derringer. When the band took a break, he grabbed the guitar without the case! I dont know if its true or not but I got the guitar for $60.00. Wish I kept it. I wound up traded it in for a 1978 Gibson Les Paul Gold top, with humbuckers.

I was once inside a gas station - getting a drink - and a man, woman, and a 7 year old girl came in. It was obvious hard times were on them - and the little girl asked the man for a Fig Newton because the sign said "two for a dollar." He was agitated when he said no - and told the woman to take her outside. When they were out I asked the man if I could buy the Fig Newtons for her - he said yes - and he took two bars and left the cashier. The cashier added the dollar to my bill and I walked out to my car - and the sweetest little voice from behind said - *"thanks mister!"* I turned my head in mid stride like a sasquatch, and gave her a thumbs up - and kept walking to my car. That dollar gave me more joy per penny - than any dollar in my life. In fact - I'm still telling the story.

This reminds me of a very kind man who helped me once...So after falling completely down on my luck, homeless, addicted to Heroin, and living under a bridge, I had found my self begging for change at a local grocery store. I remember it was especially hot that day as I remember, so when a gentleman came over to talk to me I was a bit uninterested at first. As we began to talk we learned that we had a lot more in common then I had first thought. I learned he had learned to finally conquer his addiction, and was also an avid guitarist as well...We literally talked for what seemed like forever, and I remember I told him how much I missed playing, and owning just even one guitar. He then asked me if I was gonna be there in the same spot in 1hr, relectantly I said yes. Well toy surprise he returned in 15 minutes with a guitar that he handed forward to me. He wanted nothing but to pass on his joy he had received from it and to maybe even inspire me, and it did! Even though I still didn't find my path to sobriety right away yet, that guitar and that man's kindness definitely helped steer me home. It still brings tears to my eyes today. Thank you my friend! Edit: I just celebrated 3yrs clean and sober! 2nd: Thank you so incredibly much to all who reached out to me and sent their words of encouragement and kindness. I never expected that in a million years!

I was in line at the pharmacy about 5-6 years ago. In front of me was a woman and at the counter was a young father getting a prescription for his young baby. They bought it out and told him the cost; I believe it was somewhere around $160.00. He was shocked because he could not afford it. You could tell he was embarrassed, and he was about to leave when the woman in front of me stepped up and said she was paying for it. He was so humbled and thankful. I will never forget that act of kindness, because it taught me a life lesson too - I was kind of judging this woman while she was standing there. She was well dressed and had a look of arrogance, at least to me. Boy was I the asshole! She heard him tell the pharmacist his story, and she stepped up with zero hesitation. May God bless her for her kindness and generosity. I thanked her also, but she was humble as well. I learned never to judge anyone that day, because we are all human, and we all have a different story, yet we are all the same. Have a great day and God bless us all. And this woman who helped this young man is awesome. I hope it comes back to her in a big way.

I’ll never forget I was in a 7-11 getting a drink and some other stuff and I was a few bucks short then all of a sudden a homeless man stepped up and paid the rest for me with the last change he had. I came back the next day and tried to find him so I could pay him back but I had no luck. I just started giving money to every less fortunate person I saw. I will never forget that guy and I hope I see you again some day brother!

Actually I just think it's sad that nobody among them decided to share in the joy of the moment for the kid. I'm genuinely curious how people decided that all "entitled people" needed to be given a common "first name". Even children exposed to social media with no knowledge of the word's intended meaning just simply use it to shut down people they don't like. I guess the only way to weak the negative intention of that word is to refuse to recognize the negativity around it.
My first guitar, and still among my favorite guitars, is a Sigma DM-1. Incredible earthy tone, buttery action, it just fits into my arms perfectly. That kid is going to be very happy with that guitar.

I'm sorry, but why didn't the pawn shop extend the same gesture that the woman did. It's obvious they were aware of how excited the kid was. They were going to let the kid walk out of that shop without the guitar for a lousy $20 bucks. They probably didn't have but $20 in the guitar. The attitude of the pawn shop is what's wrong with this world. The kindness of the woman is our hope things could be better.

This wasn’t a “feel good” for me. That kid was absolutely excited about the purchase. Even after thanking the store personnel, they were kinda like, “ok kid. Get out of here. Next?” In it for the business and not the passion.

Pawn shops are the worst. I lost so many guitars from being too attached to sell them outright but then too busted out to get them out before the end of the terms. Even trying to pay 80% of the interest owed wouldn't budge the assholes I got into...

Can't really blame them for that if you know it going in. The "worst" is the medical profession... You NEED medical care... It's not usually something you "desire" or save for... The prices are ridiculous but worse than that, you don't know the prices until AFTER you owe the money and the bill is in your hand. What other business charges you varying fees without any "menu" of pricing? "You owe whatever we tell you to pay". On top of that, the same procedures carry different pricing depending on who's flipping the bill?... Suddenly the long T.O.A. contract and fixed percentages at a pawn shop seem VERY fair. ;-)

They have more customers than they can handle so if you want any kind of leeway you're looking up the wrong skirt...

I assume they are HEAVILY regulated these days, too. If you buy a refrigerator from a home center on credit and fail to make payments, isn't it likely that they will repossess your fridge AND send you to a high-interest collection agency to cover any losses? I doubt that they'll do much to work with you... Now you have warm beer, melted ice-cream, AND some d*ck blowing up your phone for payment... "Or else". If you let your health insurance lapse and try to claim an appendectomy 3 months later, I don't know of a single company that will work with you after you're no longer their responsibility... Or if you fail to pay that auto insurance, I'm SURE the police officer standing at your car window with $$$ signs in his mirrored shades isn't going to work with you. ;-)... It's life. Of course, we take responsibility for it, but part of that is not blaming capitalism in a capitalist society. (NO, I'm not trying to get political on a "feel-good" channel). My obvious rule would be to browse a Pawn shop when you have money and stay the hell away when you don't... At least there's FB Marketplace and Craigslist nowadays when you need to dump those toys at a "reasonable" price if you don't have an attachment to them. The shop owner could have done more, but he has a business to run. The kind woman will be rewarded for her gesture one day.
I run a business and I get people who are short all the time, asking for a break or he's had a tough year, but I have a lot of expensive bills they don't understand and I'm there to make a little money. I give to the local shelter and food bank every year, but I can't put myself out of business giving everything away. You have to draw a line.
That 20 spot did NOT have to come from the business- I could, maybe should, have come from their 2 pockets!
The amazing part is, she wants nothing for the kind gesture. His smile and thank you was more than enough for her. She is just a kind lady. She did mention she was paying it forward so one day I am pretty sure this kid will do just that.

I remember those days being that young and completely emptying your pockets to get something 😄. Like this video, when I bought my first amp, I came up short too. The amp cost $99.99 and of course myself being only 17 didn't think about the taxes. I had exactly $100 and came up about $7 short. The guy running the music store went ahead and let me have the amp for $100 and threw in a free cable too.

A kid was crying in a toy store and I offered to pay for a toy he wanted, long story short... the mother told me not to get involved cause her child should know that nothing comes for free and if she couldn't afford to buy it then the child would have to do without it. Lesson learnt
I commend the fact that u offered. Nice of you. Some kids cry often and when you give in, it solidifies that’s what they gotta do next time to get something. Now if the parent couldn’t afford the toy, then I would’ve just accepted. Regardless, u did ur part and u had good intention and that’s what matters!
I wouldn't recommend getting involved when it's a toy or frivolous thing. Some kids beg for stuff every time they go to the store and parents try to teach them that money is limited, we can't always get what we want, sometimes we have to wait.

Sounds like that particular mother was down on hard times, but there's another reason a parent might be annoyed when a stranger offers to pay for a toy or snack that their kid is throwing a tantrum over. It reinforces crying as a means of getting what they want. I'm not a parent, but if I were, a stranger rewarding my kid's tantrum would probably piss me off. 😂

This is the sort of thing that gives me hope. While the world seems so full of wrong, betrayal and evil, we have to remember there are still wonderful and kind people out there. Thank you "Judy" for being so generous and kind. This young man seems like such a good person and you can see he truly appreciated the kindness. Musicians always struggle as most come from tough spots and usually poverty as well. That 20 bucks was money well spent and likely will equal many priceless moments as this young musician forges his way forward. Music has saved MY life more than once. I have no doubt had I not taken up the bass guitar I would almost certainly be dead or in prison. There is a very good chance you may have just saved his life. Thank you for that. Everyone smiles when kindness is in the room
one time when i was in 5th grade i went to a local cafe and bought a cinnamon role thinking they were 2.25. It was 2.75 and I only had 2.25 in quarters. The lady behind me gave me 50 cents and that was about 15 years ago and I still remember how nice that was lol

Similar thing happened to me, I was saving for a synth being sold at a not so local music shop that I had my eye on for a while and I would get on the bus now and then just to see if it's still for sale as I collected money for it, so realising it would take me another month or so to come up with the rest of the money if I'm lucky I just thought I'd go in and ask if they could sell it to me for a considerable discount, I said to myself all he could say is no but he didn't he almost instantly said "sure" and then I had the cheek to ask for some midi cables and he gave me those too, I can't describe the joy and I carried it on a bus wrapped in a bin bag. lol I just want to say thank you to that guy wherever you are and I will never forget that for the rest of my life, I still have the synth 20 years later. Now thinking back I wonder if he saw me eyeing up the synth and visiting every so often and probably concluded it himself. Thank you my guy.

Ive actually done that once, paid for a complete strangers petrol at the station, only a $20 tank she was trying to get in touch with her bank since the card was declined, not a good situation to be in so I just asked how much the fuel was and paid it , she was so grateful and even asked for my account number so she could pay me back but I refused, never seen her since or probably ever will.

As a musician I know/remember that feeling of awe visiting the music shops, picking out and playing instruments just out of my realm of possibility at the time...Thats all I would need to see and I would do the same thing as Judy! Plus *MUSIC IS SUCH A FANTASTIC OUTLET* for young people, developing beautiful new skills and keeping them out of trouble hopefully

@@htx_carlos4766 Standard practice is to offer 1/4 the price that they would sell it for give or take. I took in one of those full size Cube Amps (not the micro cube model) with all the effects knobs on it etc, they offered me $40 for it. They sold it for almost quadruple that.
@@htx_carlos4766 do you live in the real world? There is no way they only make a $20 mark up on an item like that. They usually buy for less than half of what they resell it for.

Let's just all hope that pawn shop got what they deserved and are no longer in business. There's a difference between making money to keep the lights on and being an insensitive greedy human being like those pawn shop employees / owners. Like another comment said they most likely paid around 10% of their asking price for that guitar.

That was me. Pawn shops are notorious for buying low and selling high.
I know what this young man is going through, in my life time no one (in my family) ever handed a dollar bill, I started working at the age of 11, (cleaning people yards,)started my own paper route at 12 yr old,Sunday paper is the worst (very heavy), while many students are on summer break, I would have a job scraping gums off underneath student’s desks...if I was there,I would buy him that guitar.
I actually own a Sigma acoustic myself and can completely understand this guy's happiness. They're exceptionally good guitars and looks like he's even got his hands on a vintage one! Awesome video.
Such a mellow guy with alot of patience.
