1-2 syncros in this car are pretty shit I had to do the same with my old golf 4
props to you man. i just started my build. went from an 02 GLS 1.8 with tiptronic to a 2.0 stroker, currently polishing the head (AWP) then its gettin cams and a valve job. im unsure as far as what turbo im going to run.

Mods List, probably missing a few things: 3658 cat cams, IE custom cam gear, gt3071r .63ar @ 25psi, IE Rods, honed block, exhaust valves, AWP head swap, port and polish, stage 2 ECS clutch w/ LWFW, HKS SSQV Bov, 42DD oil catch can, custom 3.5" intake, emissions delete, 630cc injectors, Walbro inline fuel pump, custom 3" exhaust to Eurojet catback, custom deep boser hood, Maestro suite 630cc mafless file, raxles.

I like the way you shift lol. I would make sure it is totally going into the right gear as well. Id hate to think what would happen if I mis-shifted at that speed.
Hey mate, how did the ECS stage 2 clutch hold up with this setup? Mine goes in for tuning this week with a near identical setup to what you were running here and same clutch so I’m curious how long yours lasted/if it ever started slipping? Thanks 😊
Nice. I'm in the process of getting mine tuned more. You seem to have a ton more low end torque than I do. I think I really need to bump up the timing.

starts spooling at like 2800. full boost (25psi) at 4300 usually

Love it. Have a very similar setup. Any chance you have a decent maestro file setup for it? Lookin for a decent map to play around with.
Mine for the time being is the 630cc mafless base map file. Its tweaked for my cams (idle rpm), launch control, and a tad bit of timing. Its far from a complete file but it works.
Does this turbo setup throw you back in the seat?
I want power from 350 to 400 piston and rods are going to be forged with 9:5:1 cpr fuel pump is 165 lph turbo is gt35 twin scroll so what injectors tu use and do i need aftermarket ecu... and yap headgasket and intercooler with piping will be done so do i need arp bolts build tran or bottom end ... also cluch kit will be stage 2 or so

This may never be read by you, but is the car still running? i've been collecting parts for a fully forged 2.0 stroker w a gtx3076r and am going to be tuning with maestro as well. Got any tips for the tuning process?
I used a base map file. It was dyno tuned after that. I did not dive too much into the tuning portion. This was many years ago lol. I can say it was a nice setup, and if I were to do it again, maestro would be the way

why not go for the stage 3 clutch? my friends and i all own mk4 jettas and the stage 3 clutch from ecs is amazing grabs like a made man and the clutch petal feel is amazing

+OSSEOslayerJR car costed about $2k-$5k (depending on title, condition, mileage, etc.) a good gt3071r turbo kit from cts turbo or pag parts is roughly $4k-$7k and forged rods and pistons about $2k aftermarket cams, valves, etc. $2k~ raxles (assuming he is running more than 300whp, raxles and racing axles that handle high hp/tq) semi built or fully built transmission $2k-$4k other little stuff here and there, $1k~... all in all it can go up to a $15k+ build, about $22k in total.
Hope to be in this position some day with my gli.

Dude 1st to second in this car I feel like I can’t get it down perfect, my car is absolutely stock but same model as OP, mine is five speed. I’ve been driving manual for years & I really cannot get used to this five speed I don’t know why.
I’ve daily driven a six speed & driven a few other manual cars working for adesa, I’m confident in my manual skills somewhat but I always second guess myself so there’s that. Still I can feel that it’s not just me when I’m having issues with the fluidity of the shifting. IMO the gearbox is trash

It's just a natural habit sometimes to make sure your car is in neutral gear i have that habit its so dumb, it just allows revs to drop a bit too so you dont go too hard into the next gear
its a good habit imo.
How do you get that fast in 4th? I have a mk4 1.8t gti and 5th allows 140 if I'm revving the piss out of it.

z n 3yrs late of a reply but my bone af stock 1.8t gti would do 132mph and it was only at 4k . So pretty sure u could do better then 140, and the fact that yours revs out to 8100 and can do 140 , would also tell me u have a tune that removed the limiter, which means u also had more power then me. So I call bs. Haha.

It dyno'd 350whp on the "heart breaker dyno". And that was with the compressor housing pissing oil and a base map tune. I have an HTA 3076 on the way currently, that should make it a solid 450whp

Its in decel.. which means there is minimal fuel. When you arent on the throttle thats the A/F you will get

+Tony Hernandez first ecu flash and intake (get a tune!) depending on whether its an auto or manual, you can go around 300hp with the stock engine and trans (manual) if u have an automatic sell it for a manual or swap it cuz they dont handle much tq

gamerbullies for sure, my first car was a 2001 jetta 1.8t automatic and i instaleld a bov and intake to make it sound faster lol, anyway yes i twas still really quick and i enjoyed it but get a manual whenever u can to get the full experience

for that range, id go with a precision 50 trim with a .48ar exhaust housing. Good spool, good power, and it wont be taking too long in the rpm range to hit full boost.

im just doing rods, 57 trim, going wit gonzo tune on 550cc injectors, 600hp intercooler etc. hoping for around 400hp
Richard Campos IV You are looking closer to the 300-350 range with that turbo. Plus, if you havent already purchased it, dont. The 57 trims dont flow as well on the 1.8t's.
I know a guy that does remote tuning.. let me know if u want his contact info he charges $200 unlimited revisions. Hes got my 1.8t gt3071 @ 30psi on e85 running good.
