In 2010, a US couple, Kristine and Michael Barnett thought their family was finally complete when they adopted a six year old Ukrainian child, Natalia who lives with dwarfism. It quickly became clear however that things weren't as they seemed as the parents discovered that their 'six year old' daughter has adult teeth, pubic hair and has started her menstrual cycle. Things got worse when Kristine and Michael say Natalia started to terrorise them daily, allegedly threatening to stab them in their sleep and pour poison in their coffee. After taking her for tests, the court ruled that Natalia wasn't the six year old they thought she was but in fact a 22 year old woman. The parents set her up in her own house away from them, but once police discovered her living alone, Kristine and Michael were charged with neglect. Natalia's mother back in Ukraine claims she is the six year old they adopted, but what is the truth?

  • I was one of the few who sided with Natalia back when this story came out. I knew she was a child! Go back to those videos and see the millions of comments saying there was no way she was a child. She was! It was obvious! eat your words suckers! Hope she can move past this and live the rest of her life happily.

  • The way Christine treated Natalya was horrible.Further into watching the movie I realized that Christine abused natalia.They left Natalya to fend for herself. They portrayed Natalya as a social path but if you watch the documentary the husband who is divorced from his wife confessed that his wife physically harmed Natalya...Documentary is quite an eye opener

  • Take this video down, this is shocking. These two adults are sociopaths who adopted, then neglected and villified a 9 year old child. Her age has since been proven as 9 at the time they abandoned her.

  • I've watched a couple of videos on this. She was obviously a child. I don't believe a word this guy says, if I'm being very generous this guy watched "Orphan" and became wildly paranoid. Or watched orphan and constructed an excuse to absolve himself and his wife of responsibility for a disabled child with complex needs and potential behavioural issues. Adoption can be traumatic for a child. Even if she had massive issues, that is no excuse to abandon her. As for the puberty stuff IF it's true, which I very much doubt, early puberty is a real thing that happens and is not all that rare. This is a failure of the system. It's disgusting that the sensationalist story literally stolen from a film has been given more credence than the likely much more common story of parental neglect and regret at adopting a child they were not equipped to care for. Shameful

    • @elchatodeoro1 no, the film Orphan came out in 2009. According to Natalia's Wikipedia "She came to the United States as an adoptee and was adopted by Kristine and Michael Barnett in the spring of 2010."

    • Actually this is quite the opposite of what you are saying. A child is able to speak perfect English after learning a language at a very young age. She definitely did come from Ukraine and didn't speak English at the time. In learning the language and learning it perfectly it proves her very young age. After a certain age learning a new language you will have an accent for life.
