“Ramen to me is life,” says Kenshiro Uki who grew up eating ramen every Sunday. His family has been producing traditional Japanese ramen noodles since 1981 when his parents opened Sun Noodle. Today, the company produces 300,000 portions of noodles every day that it delivers throughout the country, including to popular restaurants like Momofuku and Ivan Ramen in New York City.

  • Minca was the first ramen place that I fell in love with in NYC. My friend Mindy lived in the neighborhood and took me there. Really awesome to hear that it was instrumental in helping establish Sun Noodle in the city.

    • I lived in alphabet city and one of my roommates at the time took me there. Over the next few months went back and tried almost everything on the menu, everything was amazing. I now live in Chicago and there is no shortage of good ramen here but I sometimes miss when I could walk over to Minca. I had heard of Sun noodles but had no idea Minca was their first NYC customer, learn something everyday!

    • It's your opinion, but there are millions of people like me who don't agree. Obviously, I'm not going to be in this comment section telling your to mind your business or be as angry to ask you to shut your mouth, especially when you consider the political climate, actual climate, and it's just honestly not how I do things and so I respect you big time. Just know that they're not that great and millions are extremely better, that's not being anything other than a generous.

  • When I see videos like this that show the factories, I'm in awe. As amazing as the food products are, It's really cool to see how people created these machines and components to automate and make the food processing easier.

  • Sun Noodles is a 20 minute drive from my home. It is my favorite brand of noodles. I just learned that the owner of the Company is originally from Tochigi Prefecture where my mother was from, and my family ancestry goes back over 800 years. I was just there in late October in Nikko, and Ashio. I have family in Utsunomiya too. Nice to find a connection with my favorite noodles. 😁👍

  • I grew up in Hawaii, and I think it was the original location of the OG factory that my mom went to and would buy a bag of their ramen noodles. It was cheap since it was just a paper bag back then if you go to the factory directly. They've since moved from the neighborhood but I get to buy it at the stores, sadly the stores only have a limited number of type of noodles they sell. It's mostly prepacked noodles with soup base.
