At his best he had a mix of Xavi’s vision, Zidane’s flair, and Iniesta’s playmaking. He's one of the most creative and unique playmakers the game has ever seen. But have you ever wondered why he's never really discussed up there on the top echelon of football Maestros?
Guti had the talent that could rival even the greatest playmakers in history. Yet he never really became a legend like Zidane, Xavi, Pirlo,or Iniesta because of his biggest weakness - himself.

Would Real Madrid have been better if they decided to give Guti a bigger role and not signing R9 and Beckham? 🤔 Leave a like if you enjoyed it's the best way to support the channel 💜
Yes but no
Thanks for new video of his man Love it ❤
It wasn’t his fault……the galatico era changed everything…
It's disgusting how bias you are towards your favorite club Real Madrid.
Is this reupload? We saw Guti video before.
Guti and Marco Reus embody the fact that "Sometimes it's a curse to be loyal".
Francesco totti
Harry Kane : Allow me to introduce myself
Reus wasn't screwed because of being loyal, but because of untimely injuries. He was supposed to become Germanies main player for the world championship 2014, but got injured in the last game before the tournament, because of which he didn't become world champion. After that he also missed the european championship 2016 due to an injury which means the first world or european championship tournament he played for Germany was that awfull 2018 tournament. Then he wasn't playing in the 2021 european championship because he wanted to avoid risking another injury by stressing his body with an additional tournament and lastly he missed the 2022 worldcup due to another injury.
Reus is the D Rose of football a big what if
Guti trophy cabinet disagree
Guti wasn’t a lazy player, he suffered from depression & played through his career with it. How Madrid treated him did not help his case. Guti was the legend that never happened. I’m a Barca fan & I will still give Guti his praises
Nobody cares if you're a barca fan. Because it doesn't matter.
@@Pirustaeoh look how bitter you are😂
@FixxxeR208 4 weeks later and 51 people care
I don't know if it was depression or anger issues along with a MASSIVE ego
@@DanFromIran was never about the ego,he felt betrayed by Real Madrid.. Imagine having a great season only to be benched or repositioned in the subsequent season is beyond demoralising. Real hd to have done better but it's Real Madrid we speak of who have zero respect for legends or their academy products but rather prefer the big fancy names
He is not a player, he is an artist
a very wild artist indeed haha
Where can you see his paintings? I'm an artist and interested in a footballer doing art
@@MrThedonhead music artists don't paint, still artists though
And one thing about artist, they never made it to the top. E.g berbatov
on point. and that is his personality. just misunderstood
Man so versatile it ruined his own career
Also terrible squad management with the galacticos era haha
He was a drunk and is bipolar. That is the reason Florentino never trusted him in a starting role.
@@c.avalgon3028 you can take bipolar treatment, also shouldn't be seen as a negative if true, yikes
@@nickyheart The treatments have costs.
@@asnark7115 when you can spend as much money as Real in the "galactic era", saying "treatment have cost" is not a good excuse. If they wanted, they could offer it. We have a perfect exemple with their rival who paid the treatment for a young Messi because they saw his talent
That Pass to Zidane is simply unforgettable. One of the best passers ever
Hands down greatest passes ever
Bro when i first saw it i was like what the hell
I hardly ever cry but when I see plays like Guti did to Zidane I feel like crying only because I'm watching GOD given talent and it puts me in a state of Ahhhhhhh!!!
Watching this guy make his passes had to be so entertaining. Wish more players had his style.
I think Ozil is similar
Every big national and club team always has one.
Messi
Thiago kinda similar
Was definitely one of the most entertaining passers of all time, but from a pure accuracy perspective he was very wild and inconsistent
a magician... and now the game is so stats driven, you wont see these mavericks come through anymore. A joy to watch whilst I was growing up
He’s a very unique Maverick… imagine any top club holding a player from their youth team for so long it just doesnt happen these days
Exactly, I hate that stat padding that has came into this game since the americans are watching
True...I always wondered how beautiful it would have been if Guti and De La Pena played together...magic..
@@RaymarFootball in his case was actually detrimental to his personal career...
Extremely underrated footballer. If he played 10 years either before or after his era he would've been one of the all time greats. 13 caps for Spain says it all really.
He is one of the best "streets will never forget" players. Was my favorite player on Real during those days. So underrated.
I lived in Madrid during Guit era, it was not hard to see him partying all the time...He was a genius with a talent 10/10 but not mature and professional...I don´t care as I only care about he was one of the best football players I have ever seen and one of the most enjoyable
Por que es Guit? Jajajajajaja 😂
i was there too! he was my favorite player!!
buddha
He was something else
He never did what was normal. He always made it look like he never even had the ball. That is how good his passes were. Simply, one of the best. Edit: Sadly, he went through bad Management and Inconsistency in the Galactico-Era.
It’s a shame he was so inconsistent and hotheaded
@@RaymarFootballwell they never gave him time he they would have given him time he would have shown his capabilities
@@RaymarFootball Inconsistency and hotheadedness were the results. You need to know how to polish but they already had a mountain of gold and gems and Becks on top was brutal. I'd see how he was lazy and maybe didn't look for another club to shine. I wear 14 and Q7.
I swear Guti was almost like Neymar at PSG. Shining hard at some games then partying all days and finally being overshadowed again. It's the endless circulation till his career got dismantled
finally someone who gave appreciation for one of the most underrated yet super talented midfilder in football history
Guti, Park Ji Sung & Queresma were the most underrated midfielders of their generation.
I think everyone would agree that these 3 were world class
And Juan Ramon Requelme
you forget super Frankie Lampard
Add rosiscky to this list
@@MANMIRELlampard was well recognized. Not underrated
This guy had the talent to become one of the greatest midfielders in history - along with Zidane, Xavi, Iniesta etc. It didn't happen, but he was still such an elegant footballer and criminally underrated.
He didn't have the talent. Where you even alive back then? There is absolutely no chance you watched him play and dare to use his name together with Xavi, Iniesta, or Zidane. Guti wasn't even Top8 player in his own team back then. He played with all time greats like Roberto Carlos, Zidane, Seedorf, Raul. He was just a sidekick in his own team.
@@robertmusil1107 Do you have a cognition problem, Robert? Maybe re-read my comment - I said that he never reached their level, obviously.Zidane, Xavi etc are in another universe. Guti was gifted and that was manifest when he showed glimpses of his potential particularly in the 2000/2001 season. He was indeed just a sidekick, but I’ve always believed that he could’ve been much more.
@@mattayoubi9829 You might have a cognition problem. I clearly said he didn't have the talent. You watch some KZhead compilations and think doing fancy passes is what makes those players great? xD Guti was nowhere near talent wise.
If i have to make a team i prefer to get guti before xavi iniesta or busqets but i will take rui Costa before Zidane too. For me guti can play 120% of xavi and iniesta level but he most play like 50% his own level its something like balotelli he can but he won't
@@robertmusil1107you must be slow as hell. He's definitely most talented Spaniard midfielder. The galactico project ruin him. And still carried RM to back to back la liga title. Something Figo and Zidane couldn't do.
Even Barcelona Fans had respect for Guti Haz.... Legendary!
Ronaldo Nazario in one occasion said that when he arrived at Real Madrid the player who surprised him the most (on a good way) was Guti...He said that he was amazed by the talent that Guti had
Doesn’t mean he has the talent of zidane, people at England say they were surprised by Ben white doesn’t mean he’s world class
No one comparing him to Zidane, Its just that he has great talent that we should be appreciated.
Mercurial, that's the best definition I can give for Guti. Dude has all the talents in the world needed to succeed, but boy, things were never easy with him.
wtf is a mercurial
@@a3pki320 look it up in a thesaurus.
I remember watching him growing up, I played goalkeeper but I actually switched my number to 14 instead of 1. I just loved watching him on the ball it made me want to play midfield but never really did. He was inspirational and a joy to watch , shame he never got the looks he deserved
never saw better passer. some played better crosses, some had top timing passes. but Guti always made my eyebrows go up. unique in passing skill
I'm so happy to have started watching football when Guti was very active. Still one of my favorite players of all time.
This guy is the best passer I've seen no cap, he makes it look so easy
Following Gutis career at Madrid was so frustrating to see, because i really enjoyed his playstyle and it was so fun to see him on the pitch when he was at his best. And while he surely has an attitude problem (some of the things brought up here i didn't even remember..) i almost felt like it was just cursed. They kept moving him around and every time when it looked like he found his place a new "Galactico" came along.
He was a phenomenal talent
at his best he was insane, but too much issues and inconsistency
Guti was a head case, tho. A total party animal in his prime.
Guti was a really good midfielder. Alongside Zidane, Modric and Xabi Alonso, they are 4 of the best midfielders even seen in Real Madrid. Even though, the best Spanish midfielders were in Barcelona who are Xavi and Iniesta. Both of them, alongside Guardiola and Cruyff, they are the 4 of the best midfielders in FC Barcelona in their history. Both teams keep their rivalry and maintain their high performance level this way.
best midfielder are in Madrid, Zidane, Ozil, Modric, Beckham, Kroos, Guti, Kaka. Barca got Xavi, Iniesta and everyone forgets Busquets. You see, Madrid is always high end at the midfield position.
Guti is your textbook 'playmaker' back in the days, shame not as recognised, there were so many great playmakers in Spain
The streets will never forget Gutti, maybe not the status of Raul or Zidane but football isn't just about scoring its the impact you make on the game and this guy was insane making decisive passes!
i am surprised you did Guti i have asked if you could do Guti before. bro im a Barca fan since i was a kid when i saw Guti play against Barca i was AMAZED and i became a fan of him but i noticed the wouldnt let him play much i personally like him more than Beckham . Guti in in the spain selection would have been wild with the assists to torres and iniesta could you imagine the plays between Guti Iniesta and Xavi that would have been amazing!!
He was an amazing player. I had the privilege of watching the game against Levante live - he scored two goals and made four assists. It's the best I've ever seen anyone play. His vision was absolutely insane. Physically he wasn't as dynamic as the other midfielder Sjneinder alongside him, but he was a Hell of an operator. Wonderful player.
What do you mean?
So underrated it's not fair to his talent.
Not underrated at all, he have big issues with work ethic, enormus talent but so lazy.
Guti is like one of those child prodigies with so much potential but just wants to eat, sleep and womanise.
womanize 😭💀
@@RaymarFootballnah, it's 'womanise' in English. That's proper English, not American English.

One of my favorite players ever. Criminally underrated. Arguably top 5 best passers ever. Sir Guti Hernandez

How I am 24 and have never heard of this fella being a big football fan feels like I've hopped into a parallel universe watching this
When he was at his best, you were too young. It's not your fault
Not your fault, you kinda missed his era by some years.
I’m 28 And he’s one my favorite players
You were too young.
Guti is HIM, he is the guy that would say "Just make a run, the ball will be at your feet". The one ego-sensei started blue lock for. The ego that drove him to be the best at every position.
the best? he was NEVER the best midfielder at Madrid, dont even talking about the world.
His flair and vision was out of this world....
I remember him playing when i was a kid and he was pure magic. But the biggesr threat to his career was himself, too much ego and bad work attitude (party guy). Despite it all, a RM legend.
Absolute Madrid legend. Criminally underrated. Grande Guti!!
Fantastic video keep it up you're doing amazing things 😁👍
Glen Hoddle was a great passer also if anyone remembers him
Yeah he was a great player I tried to be like him in my younger days, long long time ago.
I have always been a Barca fan and I’m so lucky to have seen Raul and Guti play on TV. I was spoiled by these players having been so iconic.
Him and Thiago make passing look so easy love this style
What a legend. I always had him in my team, in Fifa, way back, when the Galacticos was a thing. Damn, I'm getting old.
he was and still the best midfielder in football for the last 40 years, its not only him who was an obstacle , some managers along the way including Perez didn't took him in account as they was aiming to a Galactico squad, and he wasn't a "name" in that time. in a different time with a guarantee role in the 11, we would see magic every match 100%
Guti wasn't lazy, players like him, play the game in the head, that's what most people can't get. Why take 10 steps when 1 will do. Hoddle, Berbatov, Le Tissier, Ginola et al, all supposed to be lazy, but it's a myth, they're genius's.
Fucking artist, pure quality and BEAUTIFUL style of play. Damn.
I've been thinking this for so long, and so baffled why tf no one talks about this legend at all. I've seen so many videos of him embarrassing defences but never one where it is explained why he's underrated. Until now. Thanks for this video
While I was a kid, I used to watch Madrid's game. People used to talk about zidane, ronaldo and all, but Guti always caught my attention more than anyone even he played so little. He was just amazing.
Finally one of my favorite midfielder! Still waiting on that “Just how good was Lothar Matthäus” video thou ^^
If you ever wonder what it would’ve been like for Real Madrid to have Messi, here you go. Instead of developing him properly and providing supporting pieces they instead went after big names for profit and took advantage of his loyalty
One of the most entertaining players of the past 2 decades (speaking as a Xavi/Busquets/Iniesta fan).
Guti Hernandez videos😭🔥 we're eating good tonight. I've been waiting for this video for so long, I love this player so much.
Guti was insane. Love him
EASILY top 10 midfielders for me, top 5 even. man had everything & i loved everything about him. thank you so much Guti, you made up so much of my footballing memories growing up.
Iniesta, Xavi, Zidane, Seedorf, Pirlo, Gerrard, Modric, De Bruyne, Platini, Maradona, Scholes, Lampard, Matthäus, etc. Guti isn't anywhere close top10.
@@robertmusil1107 not in terms of stats or nothing, i just liked watching him play hence top 10 for me :)
@Robert Musil in terms of career accomplishments, they better in terms of talent only a few were better than guti dude played 4 positions in his career and still was legendary imagine if he played for barca a stable player friendly club he would've been top 5 easily
@@mavusana12 i agree
@@mavusana12van De La Peña was better than Guti and still didn’t make it at Barça. Barça is the most difficult team to play at in the world. So many legendary players weren’t up for the challenge.

Real Madrid like to have unsuccessful or inconsistent (rma carrier), but genius, left midfielders this century. Guti, Ozil, Di Maria, James and Odegaard.
ozil was successful at real

I love Guti style & how his plan when a ball at his foot
He was one of a kind. But I remember he was given a lot of agressiveness even in those early FIFA games lol

Guti was the reason I started supporting Real Madrid. World class talent. 👌💙 Ping!!!
Great video of an underrated player! I was wondering if the video title is a reference to NBA player Jason Williams and his famous elbow pass.
Thank you Thank You Ray !!!! Guti bedsides Raul one of my fave Real players :) thank u for this vid !!!!!!
15 years in Real Madrid Squad, with Figo, Beckham, Raúl, Ronaldo, Zidane, etc. The most by far talented midfielder in 2000s for Real. Match against Sevilla and pass to Benzema are football art. Nobody stays in Real 15 years if it is not exquisite. Also, something did not click and did not allow him to be great. But it was fantastic to watch him when he wanted to play, specially his talent, passes and versatility. From the triad Alvaro Benito, Guti and Raúl, Alvaro Benito was the most talented one, but an injury removed him from football
I remember this guy he was a Savage
Good vid!
It's pure happiness for the sake of the game when you know it was you but you don't even want the credit and the fame for it much love ....for the sport🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤
Maestro 🙌🏾 they know the truth ❤
Madrid was his chance and his ruin, to be honest more than ego i think he was just frustrated, he was such a high caliber player that was always overlooked, but in a galacticos era it was hard to pick who to bench and all the rest just pulled in more money from fans. Guti needed to leave Madrid for his own good but failed to do it.
Because Madrid is the highest you can be as a footballer. He probably didn’t want a downgrade. Imagine being in his shoes, being aware of your own skills and to be on par with the likes of Zidane, Kaka, Sneijder etc. coming from youth Madrid team basically being a senior player because u have always been there. If he would’ve left it would seem like he wouldn’t have been up there with the competion. I would’ve stayed also and stand my ground.
@@Live-og4no when the club was investing so much in the Galácticos project they couldn't do anything other than playing them. Strategically it would've been better to leave for another top club, but his dream of succeeding at his club would ultimately result in frustration as it would shatter. Guti had the talent but lacked the discipline, and was unfortunated to flourish in an era in which talent was being looked for elsewhere instead.
The way he was treated for his loyalty, so Real could keep their "galactico" policy going, you can sort of understand his attitude and effort decreasing over time. Hugely underrated by too many, his vision and passing was unreal.
He played all his career in the team he loved. and retired a millionare.
I used to watch his highlights back in the day. He was better at doing what KDB is known for than KDB, but once he left Real, he ghosted for real 😅 He's a legend still.
Are you serious, do you think any player of his level would accept the way Madrid treated him? Hell, can you imagine knowing you are the best in the world and havibg Chavs like Beckham play ahead of you? His restraint and professionalism was magnificent under those circumstances.
Very underrated player, his passes were outside this world.
If he moved to another club he wouldnt have been this underrated. Defo should've joined Wengers Arsenal, imagine Guti, next generation we had Ozil now Odegaard.
Yup Madrid didn't use him to his potential. Imagine they had him since boyhood and never let go until 15 years in, crazy
@Raymar Football Guti himself did not want to leave Madrid. He was once quoted saying, "I'd prefer 30 minutes at Real Madrid than 90 at another team."
We had fabregas at the time who was much better
Guti was just different; Jose Maria Gutierrez. I have never seen anyone that talented before
