    • Alongside the Cavs, I agree. Mavs 2011 is the most special ring for me too. Maybe because it's so well deserved, maybe because they stopped the Lakers, OKC, the Heatles..., maybe because it was a team of veterants who had one last shot to win à championship, maybe it's because Dirk stayed loyal to the end...Maybe it's because of all of this but the thing is, Dirk's Ring is special.

  • Really puts things in to perspective listening to dirk. All these people he looked up to and found guidance in when as a mavericks fan we always looked to dirk as the guy. The weight of the organization was on his shoulders for 20 years and he never folded. He gave us fans everything he had. Truly deserving of this honor.

  • As a german I can savely say that Dirk Nowitzki is one of the greatest sportsmen this country has ever produced. Easily on par with the likes of Schmeling, Beckenbauer and Schumacher. And his down-to-earth persona is the icing on the cake. What a guy! I’m really happy for him. 🖤❤️💛

    • When they met when Dirk was a teen Holger told him that if he did not do anything and just continued the was he was doing it he would become the best German player of all time. He would not need any help for that. But if he really wants to he could become one of the best players of all time with the right approach. Crazy how Holger saw that in him at 16.

  • I think I speak for many Spurs fans when I say that Dirk and the Mavs were our home team away from home. I always rooted for the Mavs unless it was against the Spurs, and when they won in 2011 I was so happy for them, it almost felt like celebrating another spurs title. The mavs have always been a brother franchise to the Spurs, and that kind of respect and admiration is special.

    • As a 60 year old Mavs fan, the Spurs were my 2nd favorite team. When I was young, I used to listen to their games on the radio before we got a team in Dallas. I loved James Silas, the Iceman and the A-Train. I still rooted for them all the time except against the Mavs. I loved the fact that they built around star players over the years without constant turnover. Dirk having to play with 200 plus teammates is an absolute travesty and indictment against Mark Cuban,

    • I went to a mavs party back in 22 and Mike pulled up in a Porsche in a full suit and nobody was dressed up! He gave me a nod and I was like yo! He didn't say a word and I looked like a bum cause I didn't know I was going to end up at a mavs party that night. Saw najera and nash which I question nba height listings cause I was almost looking him (nash) eye to eye.

  • As Tony Parker put it yesterday he is the G.O.A.T of european basketball. Today we have guys like Jokic or Giannis winning MVPs and being the face of their franchise. Dirk was not the first player from europe but the most important one in paving a way for this new generation of young international players. Now no NBA team cannot affford to not scout oversees and missing out on potential international stars. Thx Dirk from Germany for your contribution to your home country and the national team! ❤

    • I will always remember euro2005 when Dirk and 4 other guys beat Spain to reach the final. Germany was absolutely nothing and Dirk even paid with his own money to play for his national team. And when the topic was mentioned in a contract renewal talk, he made it very clear "29 franchises would be put happy to insert a national team clause". Topic closed 😂

  • Dirk revolutionized the game. I remember watching big men in the 70's, 80's and 90's. All were stationary. Then Dirk comes along and handles the ball like a point cared, crossing over down the lane and dunking. He was far more than a shooter. But he was as clutch as they came. And should have two rings cuz 06 was a theft by the refs.

    • Conspiracy in my opinion in 2006. Dwayne Wade's family member in Chicago has mysterious death. He later allows his son to be treated like a girl. Now he gets all this TV show fame. Finally, he is some sort of part owner with the Utah Jazz but you see him more at Miami Heat games. This is all suspicious. By the way, I believe there was a cloud around one of the refs too.

  • When Dirk retired, I shed the tear. His dedication to the game, city of Dallas, and especially grinding in a foreign country and needing to learn/refine English to assimilate initially, he has persevered through tough time to be the best and the leader of the Mavs, and bringing that title. One of the greatest to ever play the game, and congratulations to the HOF induction.

  • Gosh, this particular group of inductees is hitting me. I am 47 and grew up watching Bird and Magic. They retired when I was just a teenager. But watching Dirk and others that are around my get inducted is bittersweet. Getting old is blessing and a curse. A blessing because you appreciate so much more because you’re not as dumb as you used to be. But a curse because you wish you could go back and relive your youth. It’s so precious and beautiful but it’s gone so fast.

  • Every fan's relationship with Dirk is so personal (mine included). It is that common theme that molds this whole thing together. He's our friend, our idol, our hero. Everything about the relationship is pure and speaks to the common folk. It's once in a lifetime.

  • In 98/99 I stayed a year in America. It was Dirks first year. I told my host family, look at him, he's the Man. He's gonna be a great player. Little i have known, he exceeded my expectations by a universe.
