  • We have had two weimaraners from puppies until they passed from old age. Walks, particularly on leads would not be enough. They are intelligent and need to use their nose. Wooded areas where wildlife have been is a must. A walk of about 1 1/2 hours off lead where they can pick up scents to follow will ensure they are tired mentally and physically. Ideally they need this type of walk daily but 3 or 4 times a week combined with a good walk and ball or disc throwing games on the other days. If their exercise needs are met and you have a strict routine to give them comfort you will have a wonderful and loving dog. We had one weimaraner and got another when he passed so we could spend as much time as possible with them. They would go under a table onto their rollable travel mat if we went into a pub or restaurant. We were always so proud of them as they were so well behaved. All done very easily because we had a close and loving relationship and they would do anything to please us and spend time with them. Just be prepared to share your bed with them as they don't understand why they can't always be with you and they can be stubborn if they set their minds on something. We found it impossible to battle with them over this as they just wanted to be with us. Wendy

  • Smartest dog that ever owned me. After 1st one had to cross over, I was hurting bad. I have my Angel Dog (Angel) now. Drove way over to Columbus, Ohio from Pittsburgh, PA to get her. Since I'm retired now Angel goes everywhere with me; as Daisy did. Love the breed.

  • I have 2 Weimaraners, boy and girl, siblings. They just turned 1yr! You are spot on with everything! I take mine to the backyard to play, and they knock on the door when they want to come back in. When they were 2 months, the boy would climb out the pen, find the weak spot and open it to let her sister out😂 we caught them on video!

  • I’ve had four Weimaraner’s, my current one is now 5. They are unconditional love. They have all lived to be 15 or older. I miss all my Weimaraner’s and never forget their traits. If you spent time with them and train them and very important, love them, they are the best companions you’ll ever have. I can’t imagine being without my Weimaraner’s! Good luck with yours and your video was fun!

    • I got mine in July of 2020. He’s been great. He’s full of love and energy. He loves to steal socks 🤷🏽‍♂️. He love to sleep in the bed with me or anyone that is in a bed lol. He’s very smart and just loves to be happy and have fun

    • TRAIN THEM ASAP! They can literally destroy anything! And they LOVE TO SMELL so they will go through trash and leave it all over the house😂 they are so smart, you can have something locked in a vault and they will figure out the combination

    • Seems you may not be suited to the breed. It’s ok to let them go to another home.

    • @@brodenmacarthur3955 you know absolutely nothing about me or my dog, and much less off of 1 comment where i didn’t even talk about how i handle the dog, so the fsct that you think me calling my dog stubborn, which is part of the breed’s reputation, or because i said i struggle with his separation anxiety, which is also part of the breed’s reputation, is reason enough for me to consider giving up and rehoming him like he’s an old ps3 console shows either how little YOU know about the breed or how poor you’re doing at practical reading comprehension.

  • There the best pets! Long haired weims are the BEST we had on other weim and we have one now! A miniature snuazer with my long hd weimereiner and they LOVED EACHOTHER! Sadly my sncauzer died about two months ago☹️ but other then that they are so playful and amzing! They said they need alot of space like a gldn retriever but mine is good. Dont listen to them.

    • They are very active and you dont need to walk the big ones that much. But mine loves goong on walks and pulls alot. When you buy a leash, make sure you buy one with a short leash attatched. There amazing dogs to keep. I recomend a short hair weim. Not that many people have heard of long haired weims. They do shed and LOVE TO PLAY. A short hair gets along with babies VERY well. When i was a baby,it loved me so much. On the other hand, long haired weims are very active and some love babys. Mine sniffs my baby brother and my brother loves him.

    • Everything depends on your Weimaraners personality too, some are a bit more crazy than others, but you will start to notice their patterns. If you have two dogs and a backyard, just let them out to play and have fun and weimaraners will knock on the door once they are done playing literally

  • Hi! My family and I are considering getting a Weimaraner puppy but my mom is worried about the shedding (we currently have a standard poodle, so shedding not an issue.) Would you say that they shed a lot or very little or somewhere in between?

    @eliseh9163@eliseh91633 жыл бұрын
    • What i learn from mine is that from, 0-6 months you will have no problem with shedding, but after that, just once a week, or even more if you have a chance, brush them with a deshedding brush and you will have no problem with them!! They are not like other breeds like poodles or husky

  • Hey! I am going to have a weima, and would like to ask: Have you been with him hiking or tramping? I have read many things about their activity, but no one really talks about their stamina when you go for more than 1-2 day hikes. cheers :)
