      @USER-qs9od@USER-qs9od6 жыл бұрын
    • USER 1 or loma really is better than him at boxing . Like how a chess player is better than a checkers player at chess. Besides TJ doesn't train in one martial art, he trains in multiple, so of course he isn't better than loma at boxing which loma always trains in.

      @michaeljean2593@michaeljean25935 жыл бұрын
    • +Connor Matthews That's the difference between the 2 sports. In MMA, being flat footed helps because of takedowns. In boxing, there are no such threats so a boxer will be more swift on his feet compared to the best MMA striker that doesn't come from boxing. Holly Holm, who was a boxing champion has head movement and foot work even in the octagon where as the MMA striker doesn't. It's more energy consuming to use both in the octagon as there are more threats to defend against compared to boxing but the MMA strikers should learn better head movement, like in boxing in my opinion.

      @ScorpionXII@ScorpionXII7 жыл бұрын
  • Two respectful fighters, having a technical sparring match to improve in their own skill sets. No grudges, no anger, no "going at it." It's a boxing sparring session, so obviously TJ is at a disadvantage being out of his element, and Lomachenko is being a good training partner by toning it down some. Contrary to what a lot of people probably believe, this is how (smart) fighters train. If you beat the brakes off of your training partners every single time you step in the ring, you won't last long, and nor will you have any dependable partners to help you develop your game. Don't make it what it isn't, and enjoy the athleticism and mastery taking place.

  • As someone who trains in mma, boxing is by far a harder sport. Its like trying to sprint a marathon. Where as in mma and kickboxing you have much more idle time to recover. You can use grappling to catch your breath and slow down the pace, leg kicks to expand distance, sprawls and front headlocks to tire the opponent and relax. Plus you only fight anywhere from 9-25 mins max. But boxing is 36 minutes. Plus the constant level changing, slipping, footwork kills you. The cardio is unreal and you dont have the option to say "Well he's killing me with the hands, I will just shoot in on him and bullshit my way to a takedown to kill time and catch my breath"

    @chi111y@chi111y3 жыл бұрын
    • Do you not have a decent wrestler at your gym at all? Between punching and wrestling it's pretty easy to figure out which 1 is more tiring. If you actually face someone who even knows what they're doing even a little bit on the ground then there's no such thing as "relaxing" on the ground. Especially in mma where you're allowed to punch and kick too? Stop it.

He'd make a lot of boxers look like this. I'd love to say I've done a round with Loma. That'd make all my gym mates jealous. • @SSJG Being flat footed definitely is helpful in taking kicks without getting pushed off balance. If you got always got your weight on your toes you´re gonna get pushed back so much when someone figures out to throw pushkicks or step off the line and meet you with a round kick against you. You´re also gonna have a hell of a time with takedowns, clinching, and dirty boxing if you always stay light on your feet. You will get bullied around if you don´t set your weight down and resist sometimes. You´re allowed to purposefully grab and push down your opponents head in MMA, you gotta have a solid base and good posture or you´re gonna have a hard time with grappling and knees to the head. You can´t always stay light on your feet. Dom and Gus are both really flat footed compared to boxers.

    • @Sam Nyicon Here's a link to the fight where TJ became the bantamweight champ: kzhead.info/sun/dLZulaWqhJV8Z4U/bejne.html His opponent, Renan Barao, was undefeated for 10 years and was on a 32 fight win streak. TJ was a 17-1 underdog who most people thought was going to get worked. TJ went in super loose and composed and danced around Barao while bobbing and weaving shots, all the while getting in licks of his own. In my opinion, TJ Dillashaw is the Lomachenko of MMA; great footwork, cardio, and reflexes, and still packing enough power to knockout his opponents. Like I said before, it's not fair to say TJ has bad footwork in boxing when he fights in a complete different sport. His footwork works for him perfectly, and the fight I posted is proof.

  • There are levels to boxing. A mma fan who never fought before will say “he will never win in a real fight” as if elite boxers don’t know what to do in a “real fight”. A boxer in mma has a chance to win, a mma fighter in boxing has ZERO chance. And I’m talking B class levels. I’m a mma fighter and boxers are my hardest competition simply because of their footwork, their punching power, their reflexes, and how much punch they can take.
