Hi there. I would like to tell you that I am from Pakistan and you pronounced it wrong, this weapon is "Churaey" not "Charay" please pronounce it correctly
I don't think it was only a sword, i think they could also use it as a Meat Cutter, if they hunt a Boar and roast it they could also cut the meat easily!

heavy blade? start praying for the other blade brake in two!
like seriously this show is a scam
@@PatricoTV You sound like the little kids I used to play Runescape with when I was a wee one myself x'D It isn't a scam if you don't lose anything other than time.
When doug said " for a charay, it is heavy" the guy had already lost at that point...his only hope was the other competitor's sword to broken.
well dident need to break but need to get damaged in the strength test
@@baldrian22 A blade have had massive Damage and still won because of weight.
Fighting with a heavy blade is like punching with a 2 pound weight at your wrist. No impossible but the longer you go the harder it is tk win.
I think that the weight was the deciding factor because they were even in every test. It is like a race that is won in .001 seconds.
@@stephenodell9688 you need the watch more forge in fire. If something is mentioned heavy, then it's already over
Literally all suspense drops when a blade is considered "heavy". It's a bigger death flag than when a side character in an anime has a sudden backstory drop.
In the words of Rimuru: "Flag collected!"
Horrifying and cringe analogy
After that the only way to win is catastrophic failure in opponent's blade

😁😄😁 My thought exactly....
Isn't a human body a giant chunk of steak :'))???
With this sword, Afghans were one of the undefeated people, throughout the history.

Dude definitely won in the Hat category.
As an Afghan this needs correction, its not "charay" its Chara which means knife in Pashto. But we call this a Tura which just means "sword" in Pashto language.
@Viper That shouldn't be an excuse to get the terminolgy wrong.
Chara in Pashto is derived from the same root as Chhuri in Urdu (again means knife), was really confused by the added Y at the end. your post clarifies that. Aren't Turas longer and with a more gentle taper?
@@ritamayachattakhandi6732 No its not, its strictly and Afghan word which means knife. "Churi" and "Choora" just Indian corruption of this word and hence wrongly pronounced. Tura just means sword.
Interesting.
@Truth Seeker Lmao!
Of all the blades up to this point on the show, this is one of my favorites. The idea of the T-shaped spine is brilliant for strength. If I had to sword fight, I'd want something strong like this.
Sooo.... the exclusive club of bulletsplitting swords isnt really exclusive at all. I have yet to see a sword break..
Yeah I never really liked that test because at most it'll just dull the edge, they need to stick to bashing the sword into stuff so we get a bit more of a show
It seems to be a fairly useless test honestly. Unless the blade is about ready to break, it doesn't seem like the bullet will do much to it. The bullet has dulled some blades a bit, but that is about it. The test feels more like it just exists to be showy, rather than a truely practical test.
Steve's blade honestly might be the nicest finished piece I've seen on this program.
Keep the weapon history!! We all enjoy it.
Really shows how having a heavy blade swings both ways in this show, sometimes the opponent's blade breaks cause it's too light or thin and that gives the 'edge' over to the guy who had a heavier weight
It's almost always the lighter blade that wins
If you can move the blade faster you tend to win fights.
In the episode with the claymore the lighter blade lost. It was not stiff enough to perform. It is a rare thing though.
If it is supposed to be light, yes.
Also, consider that these judges probably have a flexibility about this, I trust when they call a blade heavy it's because it is WAY heavier than it should, and not just slightly
I mean logically it makes sense, lighter means easier to wield and typically a faster swing. However I believe there has been a few times where the lighter blade broke on the durability test, so making a light weapon is good, but you could run the risk of making it to weak.
Awesome! I love this show i never knew it was on here
Today that sword is known as “A giant kitchen knife”
Watching people struggle to make these swords with all the latest tech, makes me wonder how blacksmiths in the past managed to do it without any of this tech, goes to show how impressive blacksmiths in the past were
The blades of the past didn’t look as magnificent as what you see in the movies or even in this show.. Imagine having an old style forge with limited tools a a huge rush and demand for blades since most likely there was only one black Smith and a couple apprentices and those few people have to forge for an entire army and town.. Yeah. Movies are misleading lol
@@gravityracergt oh yeah definitely, there is no way those weapons looked like the way they show them in movies, especially, just like you said, they would've had to make tons of weapons on a rushed time limit, so looking pretty I think was least of their worries, I bet as long as it would keal, that's a that mattered back then
Steam Punk Top Hat +10 Damage.
"Your blade Sir will kill!"
YES wear a respirator when working with metal When you grind that puts metal shavings in the air.
The edge and sword withstood a bullet, that is absolutely amazing craftsmanship.
While the blades are well designed for stabbing British surgeons in the 18 hundreds noted tribesman only used the blades for slashing based on the wounds they were seeing. The surgeons regarded that as a mistake. I have no explanation.
If the one guy made his blade lighter then I almost think it could’ve come out as tie. They both did amazing!!! This was a good one.
Steve is huge! Absolute unit.
As soon as they say your weapon is heavy you already lost!!!!
one negative remark during the kill test = you're out. (given that the other one didn't get one)
they have the T spine for thrusting strength "could penetrate armor" and you shoot a bullet at it? why?
it was an armor piercing round? did not look like one tho!
True! A real strength test should have been sheet metal punctures honestly.
Because coolness
stupid af and boring

The Khyber Pass I’ve been there a couple times
Just liked because of the explanation about the history of the blade
Wow. Possibly one of the closest ones ive seen. I actually didnt know who won before they said it for possibly only the second time. Why did Ryan have to make his blade to heavy! I knew he was gonna! Its always the timid ones! If he hadnt of made that classic mistake, he would have won by a mile.
time traveller loses his kitchen knive.....it gets upscaled and turns into a weapon
Not gonna lie if Doug says ur blade is heavy it's over for u
When the judge say "this is heavy" you gotta pray for your opponents blade to bend/break or else you will lose
This sword is literally a big kitchen knife
I'm obsessed with this show.
Im stuck watching episodes forever. Help. 😐
@@frankcastle4715 So far, I haven't found a cure. I think it's because I don't want to!
As soon as the Judge says its heavy. I'd be on the plane ride home instead of hoping on a small chance for a catastrophic failure on my opponent's blade for the win. When you hear it's heavy. You lost. lol
The heavy blades only win when the other blade has a catastrophic failure.

Magnificent
What a crazy blade
The animation looks like a big version of my Wusthof chef knife.
Yay! Jacksonville Florida! Cool when you see your city represented
Forged in Fire: It's a charay. Me: Large chef knife.
There are reports from British Surgeons saying that if these warriors used their swords to thrust as well as cut they would be able to do infinitely more damage. This tells us that they mostly used the weapons to cut and chop, rather than thrust.
I feel like the using of a power tool to forge the T was what lost it for him. The one guy forged his t in with a hammer and one cut it in with a grinder.
No, the khyber knife was NOT used for penetrating through armour. It was a cutting weapon. It’s actually the pesh-kabz (the dagger version) which was used to penetrate through chainmail armour. Some research on these shows beforehand would be beneficial.
Now that's is a huge knife to make Doner Kebab right there, impressive
Love his hat
man that's a thin big smoke
I know I seen this blade on a movie before? I just need time to remember.
Has anyone lost in bullet test?
Was thinking the same.
never
They will if FMJ are used
probably not given that the mythbusters have shot a butter knife and it split the round.
Me sees the sword... "Oh a kitchen knife."
Why don't they already knew the lighter blade always win huizz 🤪
Love that guys leather hat.
when the tests end like this, they should make one more test, "blade against blade"... because the weight its not enough to judge a blade at least for me.
I'd never heard of a Charay before. That's a cool looking knife.
Sword fam not knife
@@TheAfghan72 A Khyber knife.
@@midnightmosesuk Both terms are technically wrong, the British just called it "Khyber" because that's where they first observed the weapon but it was also used in Afghanistan as well. The term "Knife" is also wrong because Afghans called the smaller Pesh-Kabz dagger a "chara" which means Knife in our language Pashto. We have always refered to these as swords.
And i thought key and pele visited the show from thumbnail
Plot twist:Ryan doesn't surrender his weapon instead kills Steve first then commences to attack the judges...🤔🤣🤣🤺🔪 ungar!!
Before he can turn around, Doug had already pulled a karambit out his pocket and is already standing behind Ryan.
ungar? shouldn't that be on guard? or maybe was shorthand for on guard?

Why do these guys insist on gripping end on for the quench? Turn the thing sideways even if you need different tongs. But better still keep it in the oil until it's cooled enough.
Doug: for a charay its Heav.... Too bad man better luck next time. 2nd isn't too bad.
It feels like there are two types of people in the final round. One who delivers the specific weapon that the judges are asking for and one who creates a weapon that just fits the parameters that they set
seems one was just a little too heavy! for the spec sheet?
Steve did the Proper T Back, his was Sharper, lighter, and it was Appealing. Good Job trying Ryan
Literally just a big cooking knife But okay
I don’t think a cooking knife can penetrate armor
@@DC-ru5xz No, but a big one can!
Its look like that you but its not, its a short sword. Classical Khyber swords had guards, thicker blades and looked more like swords. Victorian Khybers (like this) were generally unfinished products.
@@DC-ru5xz uh.. ive run into a few strong enough/sharp enough to pierce / cut armor. Not 1/4 inch steel plate or scale armor but yeah

Was a cool clip. Woulda liked to see more bummed Ryan didn't win cause of the wolf design. Favorite alaskan animal though so ida been highly biased if judging to pass it.
Firing bullets at a blade from "Khyber Pass"... That's a great coincidence
Weird that there is normally more of an explanation on how they choose winner even with blades that break
