The U.S. Marine Corps released video of modern ship-launchable and ship-recoverable 8×8 wheeled combat vehicles, known as Amphibious Combat Vehicles (ACV).
On 13 March, the official Twitter account of U.S. Marine Corps posted a video of new Amphibious Combat Vehicle and added that vehicle is off the tracks.
The ACV performs best in class mobility in all terrains and has a suspended interior seat structure for 13 embarked Marines, blast-mitigating positions for a crew of three, and improved survivability and force protection over currently fielded systems.

As a former crewman on the AAV, my guess is that like its older brother, this vehicle is loaded with more compromises than marines, less firepower than it needs, more maintenance requirements than can be performed to keep it rolling, armament systems that dont work in the field. I hope I'm wrong, but that was my experience with the P7.
Only a 50 cal
What's built that can keep you safe now? The whole world now knows how thing looks inside and outside. Advertise to the World what we the USA has
An amphibious vehicle that's fast is an extremely difficult exercise in engineering. Speed on land, speed in the water, crew protection and decent fire power. Not an easy thing to design. They've been at it since WWII.
this is the new Iveco BAE amphibious vehicle!
I AM AMAZED THAT THESE THINGS FLOAT ! ? .
Having made beach landings , I remember how sea sick we were once we landed on the beach. I'd love to see a video of how the ride is from the inside of this vehicle both at sea and on land. Semper Fi Sgt. U.S.M.C 1961-1965
I guess the designer of this vehicle thought that whoever rides this would not live long enough until evening chow time?!
@@RagnarNomad It is amazing how even sea sick Marines routinely annihilate the enemy.
Each time I see those huge heavy vehicles go off the ramp I expect to see them go strait down like a rock. These machines never cease to amaze me. Thanks for your service from a Navy Veteran.
@@x-man5056 : there is no need to be defensive, man. You didn't get my joke, what I meant is "they designed it poorly".
@@RagnarNomad Just supportive of Mr. Valdes comment. If you were "joking", you need to work on your sense of humor. Nothing funny about dropping of the back of a ship in a multi ton vehicle, even if it's just training. Poorly designed my ass.
Great video - thanks much we Army veterans always will appreciate knowing what our younger cadre of USMC brothers are up to.
Younger? The Marine Corps was founded a month after the army and navy.
Talks about new wheeled acv ends with 8 minutesfootage of tracked vehicles !!
Love my gamma goat 1981 Berlin
Exactly. YATYAS came in and said “fuck your video robot!!”
I got to see some of those vehicles at Camp Pendleton before retiring and they looked great.
I just can't get over the fact that such a dense and heavy vehicle floats the way it does!!! Amazing!!
calm waters would like to see how it performs in 10 foot seas close to shore where the frequency of those waves can really toss a boat this size around
Beautiful technology !!!
It's fun riding in one especially when it takes that first plunge off the deck !
btw italian quality chosen from us :)
Dad was at the invasion of Salerno in 1944. Remember the brilliant opening scenes in Saving Private Ryan. Well they were staging in rough seas for hours and everyone was terribly sick. Every guy screamed to get on land. When they landed under heavy fire with only one way to go...ahead. what balls.
I wish that i have one so can Drive from Guam to Hawaii😃✌🤙they are pretty cool.
But the robot voice 👎
Robo-Voice earns a thumbs down.
After 4:49 it shows LVT P- 7 tracked vehicles ... I was a crew chief in the late '70s ... Totally different design ... Double the capacity ... 😆 4 minutes of test vehicle followed by 6 great minutes of the current model ...

The IVECO factory where they build this thing is right in my neighborhood. You can see them roaming around sometime when they briefly drive them from the factory to the army base. They're impressive, to say the least.
The Puke Bucket Brigade!
They know how to get it done
So the old and the new can operate fine in calm seas....... Just like those skirted tanks did in testing prior to the D-Day landings at Normandy on June 6th, 1944......but the waters in the English Channel were choppy with 5ft swells due to a storm the day before.. . Most ended up on the bottom... Taking almost all their crews with them...... Just saying
Dude..that was 70 years ago, the things keeping those 30 tons tanks afloat were made of canvas and open toped , and the propulsion was basically two propellers lodged into the back. Comparing these with the DD Sherman's is completely obsurd.
That's a horrible way to go. Yeah i seen that, the ones Germany made suck like rocks in the channel and once you get so deep there is no way your opening that hatch. Far too much pressure i would assume. Maybe some sort of emergency mechanical/hydraulic release would work but if it's damaged then your outta there.
I would like to watch your video but I boycott robot voices
Same mate, it gives me a headache within just seconds..
Today only a robot voice, tomorrow they will dominate the world.
I do real voice over work that sounds like James Earl Jones. (Darth Vader Voice)

We could use those in the five lakes intertwined within the city of Madison Wisconsin. They would be of great benefit for all manner of lake management issues plus provide flexible options for recreational and civic activities. There's a large untapped inland market of all sizes to be exploited!
So why is the video talking about one new vehicle but it’s footage was mostly of the old AAV.
Because they don’t have enough of them still experimental status
In answer to your question. They are twats. 30 secs in I turned off
Nigel Bird no you didn’t. It took you more than thirty seconds to write that.
I didnt need all of the stock footage of the LAV-came here to see the new stuff
Those are pretty calm seas they’re floating around in
It appears the Marines have a better chance of getting sea sick riding the ACV on land than they do at sea.
i like the propellers better than the water jets on the old model
Look at that thing bounce all over the place
Yeah that suspension looks very basic to say the least.
Wow what a ship
I sure dig the carriers too, Purely bad ass.
Interesting article. Not interested in listening to robot voice. WILL NOT WATCH! When will producers of videos such as these stop using computer dubbing? They are dreadful to listen to.
This is going on my Christmas wish list.
I like the new vehicle, but the rest of this video brings back some memories! Semper Fi!
The rest of the video showed the traditional AAV and not the ACV. It looks like with the failure of the next gen of AAV's, the Corps is trying to combine the LAV with the AAV. Be interesting to see how the FMF feels about this new vehicle.
Great idea adding the wave shield that retracts.
I drove the p -7 this new vehicle looks awesum
An awesome military
I like the older one more tho things do have to change and I bet that would feel so weird when it gets off the board for the first time when you fall into the deep
Great job for USA
@@radiozvrk6784 Ferari is the best
Impressive troop capacity. Looks like it's crew of 3 and 12 passengers
Nice upgraded LAV with a folding wave shield.....jealous
New does NOT always mean better. First off, with that brief view of the interior - try stuffing a full Marine infantry squad in there .. and their gear, ammo, food, personal gear, water, ect ... and there is NO space. You're going to have exhausted Marines piling out of the back of that thing; not even adding in what a rough/bouncy ride does to a combat trooper. And yes, while it is faster on land, it will not be able to transverse rough, soggy, sandy terrain as well as tracks. And overall, this vehicle is designed for the recent past and current conflicts the Marines are engaged in. If you send this into the larger scale, conventional conflicts the US is looking at in the near future (ie, North Korea, China, and Russia) you're going to be looking at a lot of dead Marines. I have major doubts the armor can withstand even the more advanced anti-armor RPG rounds you see these days, much less 30mm API or dedicated ATGW's. Not to mention, it has next to no weaponry of its own. Congratulations Marine Corp, you have your very own version of the LCS. Yeah its all sleek and can go fast on paved roads but beyond that .. the price tag and anything your future enemies will do is going to be extremely painful.
Amazing piece of machinery when you consider how far we have come from the DUKW known as Duck which carried 24 troops or 2.5 tons with a top land speed of 50 miles an hour and was made from 1942 up to the end of WW2 1945
They need to restart the Marine Expeditionary Vehicle program, that thing was amazing.
Steven. That's it!
@@anthonyagnone5440 I definitely see that the hull is better for ied deflection,so I guess that's where the tracks went. Does it still go like stink on the water?
Thats awesome! God bless the good old USA🇺🇲😎👍thanks all USA service man and woman serving in our arm forces.🙏bless them and keep them safe.
Well Said
A luxury ride to the beach. Beats the amtracks of my days. Wonder how the infotainment systems work.
AHHH!! The good OLD days I used to launch amtracks off LST-1194 back in the 80s.
@@daoakman2462 I got to say goodbye to the LST in the early 90's, I'm glad I didn't have to spend much time on one, and glad they didn't try to have us land on one after we installed the EAAK armor them inches to spare on either side would be reduced millimeters. Semper Fi, and YATYAS brothers.
needs exsplosive reactive armor on top against morters
With some surf racks its the ultimate Jarhead fantasy safari unit.
As a tracker, with AAV’s I can promise you that depending on the situation we will still laugh off the ship. If it’s a combat mission we go. If it’s just training we will decide from there if it is worth it....
Fantastic vehicles, very fast and effective .
It would be nice if it shares some common parts with the Styker vehicles that way less procurement costs and better combat readiness.
Your brain would be so scrambled with all that bouncing when you go into a firefight
tank2003ful The seats are suspended
Watching it rockin and rollin I figured anyone inside would need a HANS device.
Wow... Great Job America... Amazing...
I wonder what modifications would be needed for space duty ??? AKA ground assault vehicles for planets with gravity, but none breathable atmosphere ???
SO, whats powering it in water? Also ive seen steam trains with better smoke signatures
Looking like the Amtracs are on their last leg. Sort of outdated slow. But worthy to have around. Hopefully they'll maintain them just in case their ever needed once again.
that is one beautiful APC
Neat amphibious vehicle.
5:31 can the new one hole shot like that? Probably spin wheels with 700hp...
The real question here is, Whats the mpg and reliability? Before i consider buying one.
This is America 🇺🇸 and one of our country America’s strength for maintaining peace efforts and safety of our country America’s greatness.
Can the vehicles tolerate high surf and/or rough seas?
Impresionante. ,navega en profundidad en medio del agua y cuando llega a tierra, camina
Uhm... We're seeing two entirely different vehicles here. The new eight-wheeled vehicle the narrartor is talking about is in the first third of the video. Once the internal ship shots start, it's a larger tracked amphibious vehicle, which I assume is the current amphibious landing craft.
For a video about the new ACV there sure is a lot of footage of the AAV7.
Nothing like "splashing" off an LST or LPD in an Amtrac! YAT-YAS!
You've got to have a big pair diving into a miles deep ocean in a metal box.
George Rivera, when you're a 20 year old L/Cpl, you're 10 feet tall and bullet proof.
When was the last time we really needed these?
I prefer that tracked one cause it can pivot 360 degree in tight well deck. Tracked perform better on the beaches bcoz it spreads the weight than wheeled one.
Comments about the suspension being "rough" seem true. Launching into relatively calm water looked like a roller coaster ride. [Strategically placed barf bags might save one or 2 getting sick from the sick might they not?] If a commander could get a diesel fuel additive [like Power Supply Diesel Fuel Supplement +Cetane Boost] to baby the diesel engines from time to time, would that make sense? [One of the vehicles put out much less black smoke than the others. Making it less visible.]
I'd be nervous about riding below deck if that driver hatch leads to the main compartment. Even on a calm sea, thee trick was riding very low in the water. It looked like a moderate swell could fill up the cabin and cause the whole thing to sink like a rock. They probably have some kind of safety measure against that - but I didn't see one here.
Nice technology! But couldn't see the fire power. Also very Smokey.
Sometimes, you don't need firepower to win wars
Looks like all it had was a browning
I wonder if many sink? Do they have propellers or jet system?
Wait? You started off with the newest WHEELED Amtraks, then switched back to the older tracked ones? I was an 1833. My thoughts. (1) Double Shock, each wheel. Too bouncy. (2) Cut 1/4 inch slice at the bottom of each Camera Housing, so water can drain away and not pool up.
"YATYAS" brother, thats "T" as in tracks not tires. My thoughts. Hope them electric trolling motors don't spring a leak and short out the whole electrical system, the worst thing to happen to the P7A1 in water is the midship barring going out or the PTO taking a shit. Nothing a tow rope can't solve, tow her to shore and switch to tracks gtg, but if them trolling motors leak and short out the whole system, a tow rope will get you to land but that's where you stay.
It looks like a futuristic Mars terrestrial vehicle.
Most of this video had the AAV 7 ??...Is the USMC retiring the AAV 7 ???....I miss my "well deck dunk"days ...
The AAV 7 is 50 years old. I was there
I spent 8 years in a Amtrak, nothing can keep the old girl down. Except of course when it breakdown all the fucking time.
Lets see how they swim in adverse conditions. rarely are conflicts raged during ideal weather.
Started watching but f****** voice does my head in..
Agree 100%. Damn robot voice is awful.
Ready for any and every situation .God bless the USA!
This is a new video not a new vehicle, the first part showing the wheeled amphibian looks to be based on a WW11 Armored Car. A larger version with tires and it floats.
Its beautiful it looks like the Star Wars First Order landers
They need new more rigid springs on their radio antennas. how can they receive and transmit properly flopping around so much.
Maybe they got the good shit not that Chinese made shit...
How about using it in storm, in 30 feet waves?
Give our soldiers, sailors ,marines and airmen the best tools available!!!! Spare no expense!!!
Why did the shore video show a wheeled vehicle, and the ship to shore show tracted vehicles
Agree with people here war time is not always in perfect oceans
This is cleared for sea state 3. Also, the US Navy Aegis Destroyer is not the fastest in a calm sea. It is The Fastest in a Brutal sea. We tend to think in that way.
did they land in france on a bad day? no. they won’t use it unless the sky is clear
@@dontworry6672 Are YOU a Veteran of the US Armed Forces? I am.
@@dontworry6672 If the sky is clear enemy airplanes will shoot you.
Wish we had these Am Tracks in WW2 while the guys where storming Normandy's , Omaha and Utah Beaches, would have saved countless American lives.
Jeez! How fucking clueless you Americans are. We, the British, invented these machines for D. Day. All our vehicles, and those of the Canadian's, hit Sword and Juno beaches perfectly. But your chickenshit navy released your amphib tanks too early into very deep water and, in the very high seas of that day, plunged straight to the bottom. This meant your troops, unlike the Brits and the Kanuks who took their beaches relatively easily, were without heavy armour backup. This is why you took four times more casualties on the day than we did, and why you got stranded on the beaches and nearly lost us all the goddam fucking day. Read some history books over there sometime.
such troop transport carrier ships are excellent sure kill targets for current anti ship missile generation. not even considering advances in mini attack drones.
let's hope that when these vehicles are needed the seas are calm because these armored vehicles look like death traps against waves higher than 12 inches.
in any kind of sea it will swamp.

They are cool looking but I’m thinking how slow they are in the water and would make an easy target for artillery. Wasn’t hovercraft faster? I mean since ww2 this is the best we can do? Or maybe they can be submersible until they make it to shore, that way the enemy wouldn’t have so much time to adjust their position.
I see it has propellers, have they also tested water jets?
I don't really understand why this was about the new wheeled vehicles and at least 85% of the thread was showing the old tracked vehicles.
I WANTED TO HOLD MY NOSE AND CLOSE THAT HATCH , WHEN IT COME OUT OF THAT SHIP. LOOKED LIKE IT WAS GOING UNDER FOR SURE
Finally 😍 you tube video that has human voice!!!!!
It is still computer..... And still sucks.
Stop it with the robot voice!!!!!argh
