  • I live in the United States, more specifically in the Entertainment Capitol of the World, Las Vegas for 23 years and I have a lot of singers who are personally friends, but yet, NO ONE has even heard of Dimash..it was only alittle over 3 weeks ago that my roommate said to me that he had stumbled upon a singer on KZhead and ask me if I had ever heard of a singer named Dimash, which I replied NO, so he played Dimash singing SOS on the Chinese tv show, I am a Singer, and I was TOTALLY BLOWN AWAY!!! so I immediately called 2 people, my BFF, who is a phenomenal singer himself (a Las Vegas and Atlantic City headliner) and ask him about Dimash, I also contacted a dear friend who is also a phenomenal singer and a Las Vegas headliner and ask her and then I started calling and asking EVERYONE, other singers, my family and my other friends and I started posting on my Facebook about him and NOBODY had heard of him, WHY didn't NONE OF US know who he is?? WHY hadn't none of us heard of him before?? WHY hadn't none of us heard him sing?? WHY is he not known in the United States?? how can the GREATEST SINGER IN THE WORLD not be a household name in the United States?? WHY is none of his songs played on the radio here?? WHY is he not a HUGE movie star here cause he is a phenomenal actor, WHY is he not in GQ cause he is SUPER GORGEOUS..why, why, WHY?? anybody know these answers cause I REALLY don't understand 🤔

    • Great point! It’s really crazy who the industry props up and other incredible artists don’t get the same spotlight. I hadn’t heard of him until recently also! Phenomenal singer! Thanks for sharing!

    • Because Dimash does not sell himself to labels, he controls everything he does, without signing contracts. He & his family own their own production company called Dimashali, & they control whatever gets put out there. Dimash does what he wants to, how he wants to, & why he wants to, & nobody else is going to change that. He is known worldwide, but not in the US so much because they can't buy him. He did a sold out concert in New York in 2019, & was there last year working with David Foster.

    • Dimash doesn't sing what is considered "mainstream music". He is not signed up with any major western recording labels, that control what is heard in the west. He is from Kazakhstan and is fluent in Kazak, Russian and English is a second language for him. He sings in many languages. He has his own recording studios and production company. He sings in his own style combing many genres from opera to pop and even rap. He has made only a few recordings. Most of his popularity comes from his amazing singing and the internet and his live concerts. He has millions of fans whom he calls Dears. He has fan clubs in more than 150 countries. He has recently done a duet with Placido Domingo. He just doesn't fit into "western" style music.

  • Yes, Igor Krutoy is a famous Russian composer & he & Dimash made a great team! They worked together for a few years & became great friends & still are today. He wrote a few songs for Dimash including Olimpico, I Miss You & Ave Maria, all amazing songs. Dimash also gave his special stamp to some of Igor's older works - look at The Love of Tired Swans. On Igor's 65th birthday they held a fantastic concert in an ice rink & Dimash was featured as well as Lara Fabian & Andrea Bocelli & there are some fantastic performances in that concert. The instrument you asked about is an old Kazakh one called a Kobyz & does have a beautuful, ethereal sound. Dimash features the Kobyz in a number of his Kazakh folk songs together with another Kazakh instrument called Dombra, which Dimash also plays really well. Thank you so much 😊🙏💞

Sparkling personality and every facet shines with versatility and creativity.😉😏 Dimash has many "knock your socks off" performances like this one but I prefer his Folk and Pop songs. Both his intensity and playful side mesmerize me every time. For something completely different try his playful "Be With Me" music video.😉 Everything Dimash does drips with excellence. That last note was held for 20 seconds. Dimash swims regularly to create this level of vocal endurance and breath control.😂 Very enjoyable reaction. Thank you👍 🥰🥰Hugs from a Canadian Dear🇨🇦

It could only have been absolute hard work to have accomplished all of what we hear coming from his mouth. To sing has literally become his life. Thank you for your reaction.

  • Amazed by Dimash?! Should be. This song was composed by Igor Krutoy (The guy on the piano). If you see him on the piano, it's because he wrote the music. He wrote this one just for Dimash, because he knows Dimash can sing the entire crazy range of what it takes to sing it. Imagine the freedom to write a song knowing that you basically have no limitation on the range of voice, because the singer can do it all. Wow!! From the super low to the super high, and not just able to hit it with a screeching thin voice, but with POWER!! Dimash is so skilled in his vocal technique that he made it looked effortless, but in reality, it is not. It's nearly impossible for most anyone else. Dimash doesn't just sing, he sings with full emotion and drama and draws you in and his voice reaches through to your heart and soul and gives you goosebumps and chills every time. You can't help but be transported to another place where he takes you for a fantastic musical journey. That last note which he held for about 20 seconds with sustained power was just AMAZING!! Super lungs and super breath control. Love and respect for Dimash.

  • At the beginning sounds an old Turkic stringed instrument called Kobys. It is probably the oldest bowed stringed instrument in the world and it spread to became the prototype of all European string instruments as violin an chello. That and the use of the fa minor key in the composition gives the vibe of Middle East /oriental/ exotic sound. Think he´s singing to migrants in general: "New ground far as I can see, new ground underneath my feet, Stranger in a stranger land, new chance to see who I am if I have the strength to begin again"

  • He is so awesome, isn’t he? Stranger is one of my absolute favorite songs. I get goosebumps every time I hear it. I’m a real fan of movies that have such a mystical or oriental atmosphere. And it was such a great idea by Dimash to use the Qobyz for that. The Qobyz is a very old two stringed Kazakh folk instrument and it’s wide spread among Kazakhs. The man who often is playing the kobyz in Dimash’s performance (also here in Stranger) is the best on this instrument and a good friend of Dimash. His name is Olzhas Qurmanbek. You often can hear this instrument when Dimash sings in his native tongue like Samaltau, Qairan Elim or Òmir Òter. As a Kazakh he speaks Kazakh and Russian fluently. He sang Stranger for the first time at New Wave in Sochi, Russia in 2021. This is an international competition for young artists, founded in 2002 by Igor Krutoy. Dimash sang here as a guest and was also a member of the jury. Igor Krutoy, like so many other masterpieces, wrote this song specifically for Dimash and his incredible vocal range (in this song alone he sings 5 octaves F1-F6 I think). And the last note he held for 20 seconds. The way he switchs so affortlessly between the different registers and octaves in one song is so mesmerizing and unbelievable. Stranger was written by the famous Russian/Ukrainian composer, producer and songwriter Igor Krutoy. His and Dimash's collaboration created true masterpieces. He writes songs that only Dimash could sing with his vocal range, such as Olimpico, Stranger or Ave Maria. You’ll often see him accompanying Dimash on the piano. If Igor Krutoy is there, the song was also written by him.The two have no contract. Their cooperation is based more on mutual trust. It’s more like a father/son relationship. He wrote this song and others especially for Dimash’s wide vocal range. Please react to Olimpico from his Arnau concert in 2019 next. In this song he sings in Italian. You can find it on Igor Krutoy‘s Channel. Olimpico is another masterpiece that Igor Krutoy wrote especially for Dimash’s vocal skills. It was written for the 2nd European Games in Minsk, Belarus 2019. And that’s why the lyrics are also very motivating. This song and this performance from this Arnau concert is my absolute favourite🥰 I think this version is the best, because his performance is so intense and breathtaking. The light show, the background dancers. Everything. With this song in this version I always get breathlessness. The way he represents himself on stage, the hand movements. I think he has incredibly beautiful hands🤭(and apparently many cameramen think so too, since many of the camera shots during his performances very often only show his hands. Sometimes it seems as if he is conducting himself. This is really fascinating). And the facial expression, the look. There he looks so commanding😱. In my opinion, this version of Olimpico is one of the most impressive performances ever. If you don't know what the song is about, you'd think he was going to war and is calling his army to a lost battle 😅! It’s absolutely stunning. And I don't even mean the vocal part, but also his stage presence. The whole package. Oh wow I’m starting to rave again…🤤 Sorry but I can’t help it🥺. I swear it is mind-blowing 🤯 kzhead.info/sun/l8-Jg5qsb2anmmw/bejne.html Greetings and love from Germany👋❤️

  • The Kobyz, or Kylkobyz, is an ancient Turkic bowed string instrument popular among Kazakhs, Karakalpaks, Bashkirs, and Tatars. Its Kyrgyz variant is known as the Kyl-Kyyak. The Qobyz features two strings made of horsehair and a resonating cavity typically covered with goat leather.

  • New Wave is an annual international competition held in Sochi (Russia). Dimash was invited as an honorary guest and took part in the jury of the competition. On this "New Wave" in 2021, another landmark premiere took place - "Ave Maria" (by Igor Krutoy). Maestro Krutoy sees the singer in the "crossover" genre, and not only as the king of pop music or a new opera. Dimash is a professional performer in different directions, successfully mixes them in one composition and at the same time does not experience any discomfort when performing in any language. Please include their joint works in your list: "Olimpico", "Passione", "Love of Tired Swans", "Mademoiselle Hyde"....As well as the performance of the trio Dimash & Lara Fabian & Aida Garifullina with the song "Ti Amo Cosi". As well as Dimash's performance of the soundtrack "Across Endless Dimensions" for the Italian film "The Creators: the Past". And his performance at the 20th Tokyo Jazz Festival with the song "Ikanaide" in Japanese. You will find links on the singer's official channel.❤

  • This song had a low of about C2 with just a little vocal fry and a high of F6, which was a new falsetto high for Dimash in a live performance. It was also a new low in chest voice for Dimash that I had heard. That's about 4.3 octaves. He has just over 6 octaves if you exclude subharmonic techniques. So guess where the other 1.8 octaves come from?

  • Unfortunately, this version was NOT live. Try the version on Super Shine Brothers, which was live kzhead.info/sun/p8ybl8xoqHuploE/bejne.html. Thank you for your reaction and welcome to the family of Dears! Dimash is a singer from Kazakhstan with an almost 7 octave range (he will turn 30 in May). Besides having an enormous vocal range, Dimash also sings in multiple languages, in multiple styles and is a multi instrumentalist. Please also react to a compilation of Dimash playing multiple instruments: kzhead.info/sun/ed2QpaqZhX2Vap8/bejne.html and Olimpico/Ogni Pietra: a modern operatic piece with a great jungle drumbeat and fantastic lightshow kzhead.info/sun/l8-Jg5qsb2anmmw/bejne.html A more classical piece with female singers Lara Fabian and Aida Garifulina, Ti Amo Cosi: kzhead.info/sun/i8WKdsqpemWioY0/bejne.html Then there's a movie score called Across Endless Dimensions in which his adlibs can easily rival with any heavy metal guitar solo kzhead.info/sun/bMmfebt-n3ZulGw/bejne.html Also watch the Queen medley he did with the Super Vocal Boys, in which he does some distorted rock screams and especially pay attention to the very last note he sings in the medley, which he starts as the first of the 4 singers, but ends the last, it's amazing: kzhead.info/sun/mZenm9CSfKWqoGg/bejne.html Most recently Dimash did a classical duet with one of his idols, Maestro Placido Domingo kzhead.info/sun/l72mdcejgZxupqM/bejne.html. Placido Domingo, born Jan. 21, 1941 and Dimash, born May 24, 1994 singing this classic duet on December 10, 2023. So there's 53 years between them, let that sink in for a moment. Placido's voice is still wonderful at age 82 in this clip.

  • That's a Kobyz or Qobyz for a more Kazakh spelling. It is a really, really, really old instrument. Carved from one piece of wood. All horsehair strings and bow fibers, no gut or metal. No frets and no fingerboard, so all floating harmonics - talk to your guitar friends about trying to control that setup! That guy, Olzhas Qurmanbek, played it with an orchestra, which has very high tuning demands. Yes, he bent the notes, with excellent artistic effect, but he always brought them back cleanly to orchestra pitch and at the right moment.
