Ehhhh, strictly spoken it's not quite true. The air pressure as you fall can cause your lungs to collapse. Oxygen deprivation isn't something you wanna do to your brain.
I live in NY. The idiot wasn't trying to fix anything - he wanted the wire itself. Scrap copper goes for a LOT of money. That's why he kept interfering with the workers - he was trying to get some wire before they hauled it all away. He got exactly what he deserved.

The testimony absolved the volunteer of the intention of murder by claiming it was his fault, so the volunteer would at worst be charged with the still bad, but much less severe, involuntary manslaughter charge.
The guy who jumped from the Brooklyn Bridge - there's a lot more to that story. He was used to jumping off bridges (yes, for the purpose of encouraging people to jump to safety from burning buildings). This was just a much taller bridge than what he was used to.
Perhaps more of a freak accident than a Darwin award.
Bridges weren't that tall back then, this one was just physics at its finest and the guy was no physicist or doctor. Sad story

Oh dear. I have some experience with diving (from a diving board into a pool) and his focus on encouraging people to jump to safety from fires was admirable, but his downfall. Diving head first with your arms out in front makes it harder for wind or anything to rotate you in the air, and it gives you some control of your downward arc. Feet first you lose any control the moment you jump
My dad survived 5,000 volts the paramedics came there with a body bag and they asked where the victim was and it was him they were talking to the whole time 🤣

I live on Kiawah Island and the story about the woman getting killed by the gator happened in the pond in my back yard. We didn't know these people, they were renters if I remember correctly, and we didn't know they were back there until we heard all of the commotion.

Same as here ,in my country Philippines there's a 17yrs old teen hanging out along with his two other friends when they decided to climb a mango tree to get some mangoes to snack with ,but after picking some fruit ,that 17yr old boy suddenly got bitten by a snake in hand during when their climbing the tree... of course dumb enough he just dismissed with with no worry and bandaged his wound from the snake bite..later on he lost consciousness in his home and his parents rush him to the hospital but he was pronunced dead..later own his friend told his family that he was bitten. By a snake

The Funeral deaths were near me, in Albany GA. They attended a funeral from someone who died of corona, a bunch died then more attended the ensuing funerals, and of course, more died... Little Albany GA was on the list of highest death per capita for a long time because of it

In 1990s, my friend saw a early teen employed as a shopping trolley collector using an elastic bungee cord to keep them together as he pushed them back to the store. She cautioned him over the obvious danger but he laughed at her in a rather nasty manner evidently because she's female and his mother's age. The bus situation reminds me of a trip to Cancun, where my group had booked a day trip to Isla Mujeres. It required a boat ride to the small island on a boat similar to a double-decker bus. Conditions of the ocean were very choppy for a small boat, and the crew made us sit down on the deck with our arms hooked around the railing so as not to fall overboard! The worst part was when the crew started unscrewing and lowering the side railing! They then instructed us to crouch down and lie down as flat as we could...as we approached a passage under a bridge that barely cleared our lowered heads by inches! That's a trip I obviously will never forget, and we stayed and enjoyed the beautiful resort for future trips. 😬
How about don't take trips in 3rd world countries, won't have these random dangerous occurrences.

The Odlum story is far more interesting than you present. He was actually successful for quite a while with his jumps, and it was an unexpected powerful gust of wind which caused his body to get off balance during that final jump that killed him.

Sad to say, but my own son "won" a Darwin Award 14 1/2 years ago. He and his best friend rented a power boat and drove 50 miles upriver to their favorite camp and hunting site. As Son was pulling the boat up onto shore after they landed, he also attempted to hand off his rebuilt .9mm semi-automatic pistol to his friend. Friend caught the gun, but barely, and accidentally hit the trigger, blowing off the end of one finger at the first joint, and killing my son when the bullet entered Son's temple, ricocheted around a minute inside his skull, then exiting out the back of his head. He hadn't bothered to put the safety back on when he finished rebuilding the gun, thinking it would be much easier to test fire it a few times first. Thankfully, Son died instantly, so never knew what happened.
That's awful. I'm so sorry your son died in such a tragic way but, completely understand your being grateful his death was instant. I consoled myself in the same way when my father died suddenly from a massive stroke in his early 50s. He was a very active man and a half life would have been awful for him.
I'm sorry for your loss. Sometimes we all take things for granted, especially in youth, and we make silly mistakes that can have such extreme consequences. Most of us have done things that could have gotten us killed, but we were lucky enough to live. I'm sorry your son was one of the unlucky ones.

@StudiousKid152 To be fair the buses are too crowded in the UK too, but we have to wait for another one to arrive once the driver decides that the bus is full. We're not allowed to just clamber on top, I guess that's the upside, and downside of health and safety laws. When I was a little kid me and all my cousin's would throw sofa cushions in the back of my granddad's estate/station wagon and there'd be a half a dozen of us in the boot/trunk, but by the end of the eighties that kind of thing had become illegal.

3 Weeks ago a 24 year old woman in Manhattan decided it was a good idea to jump from one building to another while she was at a rooftop party. Needless to say her bad decision cost her, her life because the woman fell down 7 stories hitting the ground. She died on impact.

That one about drinking questionable liquids you found is so weird. That's an evidently outrageously dumb thing to do cus even if it's in a labelled bottle, you don't know if that's what is actually in it. Yet I've actually seen people do this as a dare but also just for literally no reason. I watched this video in first year of college and thought it was some kind of kids teaching of stuff you shouldn't do. Completely dumbfounded me when I saw it actually happen on university campus. Dude drank this weird brown liquid out of the dumpster from the palientology building from the result of a dare with his friends. An outrageously dangerous thing to do because this particular department was known to throw hazardous stuff into the same dumpster because it was one of those ones taken away for special disposal and it quite literally could have been anything in there. I'm very surprised he did not end up on this series. We did find out sometime later that it was actually just some silty water but shit man, if you're reading this. FOR GOD SAKE DON'T DRINK STUFF OUT OF A HAZARDOUS WASTE DUMPSTER ON YOUR CAMPUS!

I think this is kinda hard making because it is very good at mixing realality and cartoon together.
Robert actually did multiple jumps off bridges before and was famous for it. The reason he died on that jump was it was higher and when he went down his body started going sideways which caused his death. The reason he survived multiple jumps before was he entered the water feet first always breaking the tension which is why he always did his jumps a certian way. People were actually very sad when they learned of his passing from his final jump.
