In 2013 JustPlanes produced a 2nd Flight Deck program of NORWEGIAN, today we have a total of 7 cockpit film of the airline! On this 4h30min program we filmed 11 flights in the cockpit of the Boeing 737-300 and 737-800. The video you're seeing is from a roundtrip from Osly to Longyearbyen aka Svalbard, the northernmost airport in the world with scheduled public flights. A really interesting route to operate as its very far from other airports and some beautiful scenery flying into.
This program also includes flights to Hanburg, Rome, Cologne, Stockholm Arlanda and Alesund.

  • The walk around was awesome and the pilot went into detail as well which I enjoy to hear. I always enjoy when you can hear them communicate to the tower and to the passengers as well. I also love hearing them explain their plans and their equipment too. Beautiful 737-800 inside and out with amazing equipment. Awesome takeoff and landing that sounds amazing. I love the view outside these windows. The terrain and the landscape are amazing and beautiful throughout the video. Those pilots are amazing and very friendly. Awesome video, I love it.

  • Great video! Thank you! My first time at LYR/ENSB was in 1988! The airport was open in 1974. Back then SAS only flew at night, twice a week with a DC-9. BU started flying in there again, in 1987. They flew charters, VFR only from 1959-1973. First with DC-4, then DC-6, Fokker F-28 and 737. In the 15 year periode BU flew 250 flights, off airport (1959-1974). I can recomend a movie, a spy thriller from 1984 called «Orions belt» it takes place in LYR and Svalbard. It has a few minutes of flying. Enjoy!

    • Just Planes until the late 90s there was only one hotel, after the Lillehammer olympics they brought up a Raddison hotel, and it is the only hotel in the Raddison chain with a gun closet! Mining is the main bread and butter of Svalbard. Tourism has become more and more important over the years, and less and less coal. There are three airports at Svalbard all with schedule traffic. Svea, QES/ENSA is a mine. Ny-Ålesund QEN/ENAS is a giant polar lab. LYR is an emergency airport for B-777 over the pole.

    @GNX157@GNX1573 жыл бұрын
    • Not the newer 737-series, but the original 737-100/200 has something called the gravel kit which allows t-o/landings on very rough runways, i.e. grass/gravel/dirt.
