Wow!!! This is my favorite risen piece that you have turned. I’m going to try my luck with my cutoffs that I have saved. I have turned some resin bowls with maple and Mahogany that turned out great.I talked to Mike Hunter and picked up some hunter tools thanks for the tips and discounts. My father is 95 years old and we watch your videos all the time, he still turns all the time and that’s what keeps him going. Thanks for sharing your videos with us.
Wow, 95 and turning, that’s awesome! Thanks
Jim, I watch all your videos for about 3 years now. I have incorporated most all of your techniques using your epoxy, finishes, and inlay methods etc. You have basically taught me how to turn along with about three other you tubers. Thanks again for sharing of your knowledge.
Awesome! Thanks for watching!
What a cute, lovely little bowl. You were right not adding a knob on the lid. That grain was absolutely amazing to see. I like the turquoise. Is adds a splash of color and another point of interest! I would use it for a small jewelry box.
Thank you very much!
I agree with you for not putting a finial on the top, the grain needed to be seen in all of its glory. Nicely done.
Thanks 🙏
The grain on both the top and bottom is just gorgeous! The grain on the poplar lid looks like a tree! That turquoise color is beautiful as well. Great job!
Thanks 🙏
Natural inlays is what made me subscribe back in the day and you're right, you're the only one I saw here doing them.
I think I still am, lol. Thanks for watching!
STUNNING, the maple burl is lovely the poplar is AWESOME, you definitely have an oriental look with this piece. Love the snow.😁❄💖💖 take care stay safe & warm😁
Thanks 😊
The cover is just beautiful. Sometimes the big guy makes the plan for you.
Thanks 🙏
The bowl and lid look fantastic. The maple burl looks great with the turquoise looks great. Maple always looks good with blues. Lid looks great. Very nice project.
Thanks 🙏
Leaving out the finial was a wise choice IMO. The grain on the poplar was GORGEOUS!!
Thanks 🙏
Spectacular is a word that comes to mind. That is an heirloom piece, truly beautiful.
Thanks 😊
Another absolutely beautiful project. The figure in the poplar is amazing. No finial was definitely the right choice on this one. I can't get over the shine you are able to accomplish on your work.
It’s all in the finishing. Thanks for watching!
I'm glad you left off the finial. Gorgeous work, sir.
Thanks 🙏
Glad you left the top of the pot as it is as the wood is really beautiful in its own right I love all the patterns of both pieces of wood and I really love the turquoise inlay another brilliant piece of work
Great! Thanks for watching!
Spring is in the air !! A warm shop makes a happy turner! Nice job
Your not wrong there! Thanks for watching!
I'm very partial to your boxes, vases and urns. This combination is amazing. Thank you Artist Jim. Thanks for leaving the top like it is!
Thanks again!
True beauty of mother nature doesnt need knobs and things. Another beauty crreated by you. Thanks🙏🏼
Thanks for watching!
Who knew poplar could be so beautiful. You made right choice on final, in my opinion. Great project!
It’s a beauty! Thanks
Beautiful. Looking forward to “the biggest burl”!
It’s a big one, thanks 😊
Truly beautiful piece Jim. Really happy to see you return to the natural inlay, and you DEFINITELY made the right call forgoing the finial on the lid (It would've been a crime to drill that lid... I was physically shouting 'No, don't do it!' at my PC screen!) Yet another 10 from me Sir.
I’m sure you weren’t alone, lol. Thanks for watching!
Absolutely amazing!!! No finial was the right decision. Thanks Jim.
Thanks for watching!
100% agree that a finial would have been a mistake, that grain was so amazing. Beautiful piece all around. Nice to see the handyman's secret weapon make an appearance! Congratulations on hitting 40K!
Got to have the tape! Thanks
LOVE that burl for sure…Yes agree glad you did put a finial top, much better this way
Thanks 😊
19:00 Agree. Absolutely a sin to drill into the top of this lid. "Less is more" is absolutely true here, where it's all about displaying nature's finest art. And made even finer by a skilled and esthetic woodturner. A real pleasure to watch these amazing pieces of wood shine! ❤
Thanks for watching!
The smaller pieces are fun to watch. The burl is stunning sir, like the profile. The inlay looks great, no handle on the lid.🌿 👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you kindly
Flaming hot, what a beautiful piece of wood. I really enjoyed the trip back in time. As always thank you
Thanks for watching!
WOW! the Beautiful grain patterns of theese two woods! The turquoise looks beautiful on everything. This piece has so much character. Very Lovely indeed.
Thanks 🙏
Love the lid crotch feather! Maple burl great too, but that lid is spectacular.
Thanks 😊
No finial was the right choice!! It's so elegant and clean as is. The finial would have distracted from that and the beautiful grain on top! Well done, Jim
Thanks 🙏
Just amazing, Jim! Leaving the top was absolutely the right call. I agree - a little more curve under the lid would have been nice, but certainly not enough to worry about. You have me anxiety when you prized the lid with that screw driver though! Thanks for bringing us along!
Someone suggested a guitar pick, will need to get one and have it for theses occasions. I think most were cringing, hahah. Thanks
I love your closeup videos but when you started sanding, I quickly pulled the phone away so I didn’t breath the dust. 🤣 beautiful wood and project.
Ya don’t know what your missing, lol. Thanks
a little tip if you haven't tried already; 1mm+ thick guitar plectrums do a good job of prying things apart without marking them so much. I use them when I'm changing glued down LiPo batteries. you made the right call on that lid.
Great idea, thanks 🙏🏻
The Poplar croch looks like a feather... awesome!
Totally, thanks!
Hi Jim thank you so much for the bowl it is absolutely Beautiful It was a lovely surprise that I never expected thank you and my wife for getting it to me 🥰🥰
Great! I’m glad you like it! Thanks for watching!
The bowl is beautiful, but the lid is exquisite! That poplar is amazing.
Thanks 😊
Very attractive. The shape of the top gave the piece a unique appearance.
Thanks 😊
It was nice to see you doing a natural inlay Jim, it is what brought me to your channel. Love the resin work too. This turned out stunning. Glad you didn't put a finial on it that figure is just lovely.
Me too, thanks 😊
I love the wood "playing" in this burl. And the turcois ( dont know how to write it LOL ) brakes the bowl apart very nicely. The lid is also so perfect, i think it is what we in Norway call "flaming wood". I dont know about not putting a knob on the lid but as you say it would have ruin the pattern in the wood. Anyway it is a very nice work and the finish is perfect. Thank you for showing this work Jim. Stay safe and take care you to. Greetings Hans Olav
Flaming wood would be a description for the top. Thanks for watching!
Visually, I agree. That lid makes so much of a statement, it'd be really painful to break it up and cover it over by putting a handle on it! It's not that big a idea to use the circumference instead of a handle anyway... I do agree, that profile does look a lot like a Japanese pot. I can't remember much else though. I saw those a very long time ago and I just can't bring up any other details. Absolutely beautiful woodwork! I love how pretty this piece is in the wood. Love that chatoyance!
It’s a beaut! Thanks 😊
Exquisite!!! You definitely made the right choice leaving the finial off IMHO and that crotch piece really is something else. Looking forward to what you do next.
Thanks 🙏
Nice wood, no screw driver to pry off lid. Great lidded bowl.
Thank you very much!
Another awesome piece Jim. Love the inlay and definitely the right decision on not putting a finial on the lid. Great job. Thx and take care
Thanks for watching!
I love this bowl and lid. You do amazing work! I enjoy watching you turn wood into items and see them take shape. Astounding! ❤
Thank you very much!
Amazing figure in the lid. I've never seen anything quite like it. And that shine, wow!
It’s a beauty!
I love the mix if woods with the turquoise
Me too! Thanks!
No final is a great idea! My favorite Simi precious stone is turquoise, so you could have put allot more in for me. Love the look of it together!!
Thanks again!
great stuff calling that audible to keep the figure fully intact. Beautiful inly too! Another amazing piece. Great stuff, Jim!
Thanks 🙏
Beautiful lidded bowl. So glad you didn't cover up that amazing crotch with a finial or even a knob. The inlay is beautiful and grain in the maple burl beyond words.
Thanks 😊
That is GORGEOUS mate - glad you left that top as it was.
I’m glad I did too, lol. Thanks for watching!
100% agree, no finial is the way to go. Very nice Jim.
Thanks 🙏
I love it, the artist in me really loves the wood grain on this piece, as always Jim beautiful work
Thank you very much!
That Burl was beautiful!!
Thanks 🙏
This bowl with the popler lid came out beautiful.
Thanks 😊
I'm so glad you didn't put the finial on it, sometimes simple is better.. I absolutely love little lidded bowls. 🥰
Thanks 😊
Just watched this video and I LOVE the pop of turquoise AND I love how beautiful the lid came out. Gorgeous!
Thank you so much!
Truly stunning. That piece of Poplar is incredible.
It’s amazing! Thanks for watching!
Yes, I agree about no finial on top, the grain is too marvelous: if you'd wanted to leave in the shape of a minimal knob you could have, but this small, no need and the purity of line is undisturbed. Love every speck of this, the turquoise is perfect with that maple and poplar coloring, so well done :-)
Thanks for watching!
The lid looks like a fossilized gem, the vividness is definitely a double take. Really accent the burl. Maybe some kind of strapping from the sides for a handle? I dunno. Thanks Jim
I prefer the clean look on this piece. Thanks
I love this one! And the fact that you didn't put a finial on it was a wise choice. Amazing job, Jim! 💜
Thanks 😊
Good call not adding to the lid! Beautiful as always Jim!
Thanks 🙏
I really like the turquoise. Beautiful.
Thanks 😊
Its nice to see one of your more "traditional" inlays. I've been really enjoying the resin work, but its nice to see you return to your original form that I started watching you with. Beautiful!
Thanks for watching!
Woohoo jim look at that it really just pop's and the lesson are all ways appreciated.Ernie smith from brisbane Australia
Thanks for watching Ernie!
Awesome piece of wood, Burl, and you have truly made a beautiful lidded box out of it! I love this piece! Fantastic work on the beautiful inlay! Bravo!
Thank you so much 😀
I agree, no knob is the right choice👍 great bowl 😀
Thanks 🙏
I want to thank you, yourself and Ken Moon have been two very big inspirations for my start in the turning world. Your work is absolutely stunning!!!
Great! I really appreciate the complement! Thanks
Right decision, that box and lid look spectacular
Thanks!
Gorgeous. Love the grain in both pieces. Great job. 💕😊💕🇺🇸
Thanks 😊
Wonderful turning and wonderful piece. Great to hear your logic on shaping the piece. Thanks, Jim.
Thanks for watching!
You made the right choice about no finial.
Thanks 🙏🏻
I like burl pieces myself, but the pattern on that top just knocks me out. Beautiful. wow
Thanks 😊
Ha just beautiful my friend !!
Thanks 🙏
Jim, this is an absolutely gorgeous covered dish! Great call on not putting on a finial. It would have been a shame to break up the grain on the lid! The grain in both pieces of wood are SPECTACULAR! Oh! Thank You for doing a natural inlay!
Thanks for watching K, I really appreciate it!
That is absolutely stunning! The grain on both pieces is beautiful… the turquoise is perfect! Love your inlays! Maybe do an inlay for the next draw?? 😉. Stay safe.
Na, did that last time, lol. Thanks 😊
Man that's awesome! This week was totally worth the wait. Thanks for the video!
Thanks for watching!
Beautiful piece, I think that you were quite right, it would have been criminal to drill a hole in that stunning lid. Well done
Thanks 🙏
beautiful with contrasting of blue with the grain
Thanks 😊
The bowl is beautiful. I'm personally happy you didn't put a finial on that lid - it would have distracted from that wonderful grain. Thanks for your analysis of the difference using super glue and resin to do your natural inlays.
Glad to help, thanks for watching!
That top is outstandingly beautiful. So Cool
Thanks 😊
You made the right decision in not putting a finial on top. The figure is spectacular..Great turning.
Thanks Jeff!
I love everything you make. And really appreciate that you teach as you work.
Thank you very much!
As much as I love burl, the crotch top is one of the prettiest pieces I've ever seen.
It’s a beauty! Thanks
Just fantastic looking piece Jim enjoyed watching it as usual
Thanks 🙏
Another great video. Your appreciation of nature’s beauty is amazing. Thanks for sharing the endless variations on highlighting it.
Thanks for watching!
What absolutely beautiful pieces of wood! You made the right call with the lid, love the grain. This turned out gorgeous! You're a true artist my friend. Keep up the excellent work. So glad to see your door open & enjoying the weather. Take care & God Bless!!!
Thanks for watching! The Canadian Air Force is back (Canadian Geese) so you know spring is on its way. Lol
@@SpragueWoodturning LOL!! Noice!
I love the turquoise! 😍
Thanks 😊
I think I'm sold on the Waterlox Finish, nice work Jim.
It’s great stuff! Thanks
Jim, you made me laugh with your comment about becoming a "member of the funnel club". I like how when the lid is turned so that it appears that the wood grain flows into the turquoise. Nice job!
Thanks 🙏
Prettiest thing I ever saw .
Thanks 😊
Indeed, such Gorgeous grain in the lid that you did right leaving it undisturbed! It looks like a painting! The turquoise inlay, in the maple burl: Oh, such Lovely colours, all warm and glowing! They make me smile, and keep on smiling. ...I've had a thought on how to leave such a lid undisturbed, another time, if the lid is quite close-fitting. You know how some sugar bowls have a little cove made, for a spoon? Well it might be possible to make such a cove, but glue in a fine leather loop, into the inside of the lid. Of course, it depends on the intended use of the vessel, how appropriate that might be..Anyway, just a thought. Thanks for sharing this piece with us!
Thanks for the suggestion and thanks for watching!
Absolutely awesome! Totally agree with your choice not to put a finial on the top. That grain is amazing!
Thanks 😊
Stunning is absolutely the word. Beautiful, Jim, thank you. H
Thanks!
No finial is a good decision here. Love that poplar figure. Nice piece overall!
Thank you very much!
Yay! Good call on skipping the finial. I totally agree that that lid is too amazing to drill a hole in it.
Thanks 🙏
Wow, that is awesome and the lid is just stunning. Great work Jim
Thanks!
If you were to put a finial on it a clear resin one might be the choice - but I agree with your choice - sometimes the wood will do the talking for you - Jim always great work from you and thank you for sharing your work and experience with us.
Thanks for watching!
Absolutely love the finished piece gorgeous stuff altogether. 600 bowls from one tree sounds crazy must have been a monster. Keep up the great work Jim.
If I had to guess, it was probably 100 feet tall and 5 feet in diameter. It was a monster! Thanks
Someday I would love to get a wood or wood/resin urn for my son's ashes.
We can tackle that in the future. Thanks
Love that poplar grain... great job..
She’s a beaut! Thanks
Awesome grain in that poplar love it!
Thanks 😊
