Three Bear Cubs - Growing Up in a Dangerous World | Wildlife Documentary
Watch 'Majestic Bears of Alaska & British Columbia' here: • Majestic Bears of Alas...
We follow three young bears of different species - polar bears, brown bears and sloth bears (like Baloo, the Jungle Book Bear) - that inhabit dramatically varied landscapes as they find their way in the world. We look at how their mothers teach them the skills they need to survive and watch the many dangers they face. Their young lives are full of learning, moments of great tenderness and life-threatening drama. Over three years all of our bears, despite hardships and losses along the way, prove they have what it takes, they all have learned their bear essentials.

    • When the brown bear got the left overs from wolves, a bit after, there was literally a tiny sound, like weird knock just before music grew. That sound was a Eurasian capercaillie aka wood grouse during mating season. It is a wild 'chicken bird' of northern forests, quite large and during that time aggressive as well. The sound the male makes during his mating dance is very iconic of it so even just a tiny few knocks it lets out of his throat are enough to make me certain. No bird in sight in the film. But absolutely somewhere near the camera+microphone at that time. I am some what surprised the crew ignored it - or that it was cut out if they did not - because bears are easier to get on camera even with cubs than those birds having their mating dance. That said - a word on the aggressiveness. During other times of the year they will first try to hide and then scare the living daylights out of you as you walk in the forest by suddenly flying off from practically under your feet. But in the mating season - the males are known to attack grown men. I even remember a bit of news of a brave 10-year old Finnish boy who was attacked - and as he knew he could not get away - he went for the birds neck to defend himself and twisted it to kill it. The bird hanging from his hold was about as long as he was tall - and the carried it home. They are hunted at certain time of year - so it is a game bird - but he had no intentions of hunting. Nope the kid had just been on his way home from the school and as Finland is covered 75-85% of some kind of forests - he just was bit unlucky and darn cool headed. Oh well - would have been cool to see a small clip of the dance as it was certainly going on somewhere near by. But I do really like bears - the brown bear is the Finnish national animal.
