Fun fact: Sandra's a really good dancer that according to the choreographer, he had to make the dance a bit difficult so the awkwardness of Sandra's character would come out naturally onscreen during the rehearsals scene. But in this opening number, you'd see her real dance skill on display. ☺️

I love this scene because of what it represents in the film. Like, Gracie is finally open to do whatever it takes to BE there because she knows she is right and she needs to not fuck things up in order to save those girls. That little look she give halfway through shows she’s a bit lost but she’s content because she’s handling things right. I love these details in Miss Congeniality and that’s why I think it is sometimes underrated

Half way through the performance with the sway she’s giving the look like “I’m undercover and looking for hints of danger but I need to keep this choreography together.” Then the final look when she’s staring straight in the camera right before the ladies walk forward tells me she’s finally confident enough to actually GET the dance moves and blend in and be fabulously feminine even though she is a tough chick. She’s embraced this softer side and is happy/confident with herself
