    • No type rating required for a Dauphin. Good knowledge 👌

      @joecambodia1326@joecambodia1326Ай бұрын
    • @@joecambodia1326 I know there’s not a need for a type rating, but having seat time in a specific piece of equipment is something you’re going to want if you’re flying with someone. Just because I fly MD500’s doesn’t mean I’m qualified to jump in a AS350. Yeah, mechanics of flight are similar but having everything turning in the opposite direction would take some time to get comfortable with.

      @RealRickCox@RealRickCoxАй бұрын
    • @@RealRickCox no reason you couldn’t jump in an AStar, 206 or 407 and fly it away if you were a 500 pilot. I’ve seen guys go from single engine to a crane fly like a champ. I’ve seen Air Force Blackhawk guys go to a 61 couldn’t fly it worth a shat. Never heard anyone reference direction of rotation being part of a learning curve.

      @joecambodia1326@joecambodia1326Ай бұрын
    • @@joecambodia1326 It’s not a huge learning curve, but muscle memory. When you fly a piece of equipment over and over, all of the checklists start becoming second nature. And if you have a flame out or lose tail authority or who knows what - that’s when having seat time matters. I’ve only flown other helicopters that weren’t a MD500 a few times… the R22 was the worst for me. Then I got to fly the AS350 and H125 with another friend. The basics are all the same but I felt uncomfortable flying new equipment because I didn’t have the confidence that I’d be able to instantly respond in an emergency.

      @RealRickCox@RealRickCoxАй бұрын
    • @@RealRickCox I mean that's anything tho. A little bit of training/seat time and you gain the same experience. But that works the same with shooting, driving, swinging a hammer, anything; if its new to you, you aren't as confident.
