  • I was a B-52 co-pilot in the early 70's. Unlike many large and newer aircraft, the co-pilot's job was much more than just being 2nd in command. It was a co-pilot/flight engineer's position. The fuel panel ALONE was a job. The many tanks of the B-52 had to be "balanced" on fuel draw in order to keep the aircraft's weight from becoming unbalanced.... leading to control difficulties.

  • I went into the AF in 1980. I became a crew chief on a B52D model which has now been mothballed at Avis Motham. I will always remember those times. Not a better place for an 18 year old from Pennsylvania.

    • I flew the B-52 DECADES ago. During that time, we practised low level missions. For bomb releases, on multiple, closely placed targets, it was like playing football...without stopping between downs.... FAST...and FURIOUS.

  • The air refueling system was not a later addition, but part of the original design. The turbofan engines, TF-33s we're unique to the H Models only. And no, they don't have a fighter like canopy.

  • The b-52 and kc-135 were bought as a package by the usaf - probably one of the best investments by the us govt considering they’re both still in use today.

    • Originally, the B-52 was refueld by the KC-97, a prop tanker. The Problem: As I was told, the two had to refuel in a dive because the B-52 could not maintain the slow speed of the KC-97, without stalling, unless they were both at a higher speed..... in a dive!

  • I just wonder how safe the B52 is for its occupants during wartime against a country with Russia or China because a B52 is a big slow target for very technological advanced air and ground missiles and for me I wouldn’t want to be in one during wartime nor would I like to be in a tank durning wartime,it just doesn’t seem like a good position to be in.

    @Bwiser63@Bwiser6310 ай бұрын
    • They have anti jamming dispensers and up graded equipment to wear they are not picked up on radar . The paint on the B-52 is even a part of that today . When I was in they were green and white . The D models they flew in Vietnam We’re painted black . When the B-52 does low level bomb runs it is moving . This plane is awesome .

      @douggauzy6258@douggauzy62588 ай бұрын
    • B52's would not be used during wartime to penetrate Russian or Chinese airspace or other high-threat airspaces. That job would be left up to stealth aircraft such as the B-2, B-21, or F-35.

  • you do this on every video you put out, you come up with a headline and then you never do it....I wanted to see the cockpit a advertised and you talk about the whole plane.... or crew, types of bomb payloads... so what is it come up with a good catch phrase to get he people to start watching and then you get paid your you tube dollars no matter what you actually put out....
