  • Looking Back, 9 teams were dumb and should fire their Scouts for not picking Mahommes. His highlight plays at Tech are 100% what he does in the NFL

    • Yeah that's what I was thinking doing exactly the same thing in the NFL people are like it's a new ballgame when when you get to the NFL not for somebody like Patrick Mahomes he's a natural born athlete

    • @Caleb Jackson a lot of picks? He threw 41 touchdowns and only had 10 picks. 66% completion rate and 5052 yards in 591 pass attempts. Kingsbury's offensive scheme was fine. It was the defense that wasted Mahomes's talent

    • @Caleb Jackson no worries. Yeah Texas Tech scored 61 on Oklahoma and Mahomes had 808 yards total lol and they still lost 66-61. Their defense was trash

  • Patrick Mahomes is an explosive QB, who can make big time throws and plays. Mahomes, was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in the First Round (10th Overall) of the 2017 draft. Mahomes is the Chiefs starting QB after sitting behind Alex Smith for a year.

    • GAME_ THEORY my point is because of it he hadn’t played against many top ten teams and had easy bowl games. Looking back on it now he was a huge steal but I can see how Chicago and the browns had a slight concern regarding that. Not to mention if he had played for a ranked team he would have much better wapons and defiantly would have been a top three pick

You can't blame the Browns for taking Myles Garrett, or the Panthers for taking Christian McCaffrey, but you can blast the Bears for trading up to take Mitch Trubisky, and the Bengals for taking John Ross, who has completely busted and is now injured (5th year options on both Trubisky and Ross were declined). The next pick after Ross was Mahomes.

  • He was not picked higher because he does not carry himself like an elite athlete. He does not strut. He walks fast like a person at work. Some athletes look more "amazing" and show more "effort" when doing some spectacular thing. Mahomes just looks like a dad walking the dog with the family. Casually making impossible plays. With no visible "effort or swagger" it was probably overlooked as luck or a fluke. Pat Mahomes even has a humble walk about him.

As we barrel toward this year's draft just keep in mind many of these people still have their jobs. Do your own research folks, and believe none of what you hear and only half of what you see.

    • I read the sportspinion.com article on Manziel and tried to figure out the opposite of why many teams were drooling over him and treated Mahomes like he was in the Arena League. Even during one highlight here, the announcer had to gingerly approach mentioning Mahomes' one play as being remotely on the level of the great Johnny Manziel.

    • He was all of those things. Mahomes is obviously super talented and I think his arm has gotten stronger. He landed in the perfect situation where he could sit and learn for a year. He's being coached up by one of the best offensive minds in the game. And he's got weapons galore. Mahomes still is ridiculous. But watching Mahomes tear up the Big 12 with no pass rush and no defense to speak of and saying yeah that'll translate to the NFL, would have just been wishful thinking. This is taken from PFF's 2019 QB annual: "Fifty-nine percent of Mahomes’ targeted attempts were considered “open,” seven percentage points higher than the league average" "The level of separation is another important aspect of the analysis, and we kept this one simple. If a receiver has a step or two of separation, it’s defined as “step” and anything more than that is defined as “open.” So basically 59% of Mahomes' attempts went to receivers that had AT LEAST 3 steps on the defender

Scouts were serious about his freshman year of not drafting him early as that year Malhomes showed a lot of mistakes and costly risks. Just that one year of video tapes of Freshman year, even Malholmes was not proud or thrilled about as it most likely made him the player he is now without accepting his Freshman year mistakes. • This kid is too wild and dangerous to play in the NFL. He wont win more than 5 or 6 super bowls before he gets cut.
