This match summed up Murray post hip surgery. Played some great stuff played some really poor stuff, really entertaining, injury scares and falling just short in the key moments. Love the guy, just want to see him win some clutch moments in a row now!

The 2 volleys shown by machac in tiebreaker were clutch and level of difficulty on last one was immense. Freeze frame and you can see they are both stretched out.

amazing match, 3:5 in the deciding tie-break and Machac hits four winners (3 volley winners) - unusual at the end of such a tight contest!
Played lights out in the last 4 points. He got tight when serving it out at 5-3 and double faulted but learned his lesson and played completely loose in the tie break when it mattered down 3-5. Took the match out of Murray's hands(and legs) with those brilliant last 4 points.

@@finnishinsider1569 He wasn´t at top of his game, he made an extremely high amount of UEs, this is not his style. A little less UEs and it was straight 2 sets win for Tomas. I never liked Andys game, or better said his on court behaviour, his fist pumping, shouting, trying to put the crowd on his side and that injury at the end... what to say? He moved like gazelle after medical break, that´s it. I am glad Tomas won.

Murray is very close to getting hindrance calls aganist him quite alot on big points the grunting very loudly when hitting soft slices and when he bunts the ball back in the middle of physical rallies, alot of players do it and Murray is definitely one of them.
Pretty sure he's in physical discomfort at this point when he's moving especially in 3rd sets on hot days like this. He's not the man he once was.

you can tell this one really hurt him. to do all of that and come just short. unfortunately it's his old problem with letting things get to him sometimes; if you get him the *right* kind of angry he'll come back from 2-5 down just to spite you, but today he let a bad umpire decision get in his head and it was downhill from there. a shame.

Unbelievable comeback. He almost did it with a sprained ankle! Machac was very lucky with some huge gambles to nick the last 4 points at the end. One hell of a match, one of the best in 2024 so far.
Murray is amazing, a multimillionaire at 37, having had a hip replacement , fighting until the end with two broken ankle ligaments, that is extraordinary, a true legend. He won the match for me. And you get players retiring because of a blister....

Very well? It wasn´t his day at all, he made too many UEs + his 1st serve wasn´t there as well. It´s great that he didn't let anything throw him off (crowd, Andys shouting, fist pumping etc.) and still managed to win the match.
One and a half torn ligament, and yet Murray played a great third set. Quite remarkable. But sad with yet another long injury break.

Enjoy Murray for these last few months… he did say a few weeks back that he couldn’t see playing past the summer if he couldn’t go deep in tournaments. Well it has been a VERY long time since he went deep.
Note to self, I will never celebrate winning a point so fiercely that I injury myself. He likely pulled a calf muscle the way he made a sudden motion. The sudden take off and jump, good way to pull a muscle or something in the calf.

The ankle protectors and the shoes hold the ligaments together. I wonder why it even happens with Andys heavy ankle protectors.

Its too late now. But i really wished murray dialed in during early rounds back in his career. He was the only one of the top 4 being pushed to three and five set repeatedly in tournaments. The other 3 didn't play, they disted you in 2 or 3 as quickly as possible. I believe this saved them wear and tear, and gave them more energy later in tournaments.
Andy is still competitive and hard to beat he's nowhere near retirement
Tomas made an unexpected amount of UEs, still he was able to win this, good for him. He stunned that crazy crowd, bravo. And Murray injury? Probably nothing serious, he moved like Bolt after medical break. His fist pumping was really annoying, but that's his tactics.

Disheartening to say the least. He's really got a lion's heart. He could've retired based on the money hes made and the his age. But he chooses not to cause he misses the game too much to let it go like that.
