This is one of the few few movies where I totally understand why people don't like it while also totally understanding why people love it.
I felt this.
People don’t like it? Never heard that once
I know right ? I hate it so much yet I love it at the same time in equal values
It’s not even a movie worth hating it’s a Batman movie that in all honestly does a great job. It feels like a complete movie.

I mean, Gotham City does look gothic after all.

AAAAAAHHHHH!!!! PAAAAAIIIINNNN!!!!!! I broke my hand yesterday because of the hate comments I get all the time. I was so angry that I punched a hole in my computer. Please don't hate me, dear soul
An obvious one, but yeah.
The most unrealistic thing about this movie was how Gotham wasn't already flooded before the ending with all that damn rain.
One must assume they have one of those gigantic anti-flood cisterns under the city that can fit an insane volume of water. ...Hm, though if it does exist, why where their no bombs planted in it to plunge the city above into it like a giant sink hole? It's just, kind of a logical next step for a Batman universe where Gotham has one.
Not to mention people surviving point blank explosions with no apparent injuries not once but twice. Also Batman falling from that building and hitting that bridge/car/ground was beyond ludicrous. Do they know Batman doesn’t have superpowers?

Glad to finally see a Batman series that assumes that you've seen a Batman movie before.
Then promptly turns into ASMR
There have been other Batman movies? Are you sure? I'm pretty sure this is an original character's first appearance anywhere. - Every studio executive
Well thats funny because the first episode from the animated series was the man-bat episode and batman debut was him sitting normal in the batcave reading the News.
Having said that, I would be happy if this was my introduction to batman.
Ahm....Ahm.....BvS.....Ahem
Words cannot describe how much I adore this film.
You're welcome
Me too!
I hope they don't force this batman to a new justice league reboot. Watching this movie reminded me a lot of the arkham games. It shows batman's detective side. The somewhat "boring" scenes also reminded me of the game where you just stood there thinking what's your next move. I'm convinced the people behind the direction of this movie played the games because arkham knight alone was a really beautiful game.
You mean where he lets his Butler solve and Cop solve crimes for him, Batmans skills where useless in this film.
@@codyeasonBGR you're totally right about that. But come on, it's new, the batman version here is starting out. You still have to give a bit of credit. There were still a lot of scenes where he solved it even on the spot.
@@codyeasonBGR I mean, I think that's the point. It's a young Batman, around year two. He actually loses in this film, the city is flooded. I think the movie is solid. Not the best but it does has a GREAT potential for sequel, and I think that was what they aimed for. It's hard to make a perfect Batman movie in the first one when there have been so many in the past. But preparing the field is good. I'm sure the grounds are there to make The Batman 2 the best batman movie yet. Specially if they don't make the Joker the main villain.
They cant's force Reeves or Pattinson to do anything. Reeves demanded total creative control and got it. Pattinson hasn't worked with a director who didn't have creative control since 2011, and he's said he won't. So there are no worries about getting involved with the JL or anything else DCEU related.
@@codyeasonBGR His butler solved what?
I'm surprised that no one mentioned that Catwoman's mask is pretty much a sock while the Riddler's mask is a discount S&M mask.
Yeah, apart from Batman, everyone else's costumes were pretty sh*tty in this movie. I guess they didn't think an authentic Catwoman suit or a Riddler costume wouldn't fit into this universe. In that aspect, Anne Hathaway's Catwoman suit was really good and really clever- the way she turned her goggles into cat ears was really cool.
How the fk is this Selina gonna come up with the money for a Michelle Pheiffer-level cat suit?
@@manthony225 yeah she’s poor so it suits her
@@hittingyouoverthehead riddlers costume and crimes were heavily based on the zodiac killer, while catwomans is based on her batman year one design, besides I don't think it would make sense for either a crazy serial killer or a destitute cat burgler to have batman level gear.
@@badtaketom7116 I get it and I know but let's not forget that this is a comic book movie after all- movie based on books with picture stories for children which had characters in brightly colored costumes. You can sacrifice a little bit of that for realism but at what point can you say that it has officially gone too far off from the source material?
The film marks the first time since 1966's Batman: The Movie that *the Joker, the Penguin, the Riddler, and Catwoman have all appeared in a live-action movie together.*
And this one's actually good. I tried to watch the 66 one because I thought it would be funny like B&R. I turned it off with half an hour left because it was just too much awfulness.

feel like liking this movie depends on whether you want to see action or an actual batman story. I think this is one of the best portrayals of Batman actually being the gritty detective he should be instead of beefcake punchy man in suit though there's a lot of things they could've done better, i still love it
Agree I liked the detective elements ;)
Except he doesn't solve anything and is wrong more often than not. Thankfully that one cop he was with near the end of the movie was there to solve one of the "riddles" for Batman or I'm pretty sure he would have missed the end of the movie entirely.
@@johnmyers4555 the whole movie was about him solving puzzles and pieces with gordon just like the comics, if he didn't solve anything the story wouldn't have even moved on so idk what ur talking about. He's a year 2 unexperienced batman up against THE RIDDLER for the first time, one of his smartests villains from his rouges gallery
This movie had almost no detective elements at all. Batman doesn't solve anything in it all he does is react to revelations.
The Scarecrow and/or the Ventriloquist would fit in nicely to Matt Reeves' version of Gotham.
I was actually thinking Mad Hatter, a detective movie trying to find and capture someone with "mind control" would be fun. Or a propper Bane, brains to match the Bat first and brawn second. Edit: Batman just has a lot of good rogues

This is the most Batman movie ever in that it takes a story completely unrelated to the Joker and yet still brings him into the fold
Honestly this one had the best Batman/Gordon chemistry of any other Batman movie
The joke made about Bruce's lack of attention to non-vengeance related things like his accountants is sort of the point of the movie. He was so wrapped up in finding a (self) justified outlet for his rage that he eschewed the actual things that would help the city on a larger scale.
But it concludes on the note that being a _hero_ is what he needs to be. Which is growth from a vigilante seeking revenge, but it didn't seem to ever imply that he should have been a better Wayne

Thank you for recognizing Batman is a truck driver murderer. Probably 5 or more people are burning to their deaths and Batman just slowly walks over to the Penguin while sitting upside down in a car and is like "gotcha".
That didn't happen. You saw the trucks burning, not the cabs. The drivers escaped. IGN already did a video on this. The Batman isn't responsible for any deaths in the chase scene, it just looks more exciting than it really was.
I really liked the director’s approach for this movie, making it for like a detective style and not heavily relying too much on CGI. Yes it did feel like a long movie, but I liked it.
It's not even interesting in the detective aspect...I felt like I'd rather watch Arkham Asylum batvision detective work then anything in this movie. All I know is I was asleep through at least half of it...that is truth.
I guarantee there was wayyyyyyyyy more CGI than you think.
What was the point of the car chase, except to shoehorn the Batmobile into an already 3 hr movie? And I could've gone without Colin Farrell's Penguin. It's a fun ride but I wouldn't say it's the best superhero movie this year, or the best Batman movie in the last 5 years.
I feel like the director stretched it out to slow it down but didn't have the artistry to make it worthwhile. I got bored, watched it in 2 parts, and didn't finish it. It was just slow for the sake of being slow and felt self-indulgent. It was no Interstellar.

The Batman : He's been working in Gotham for 2 years now , every criminal in gotham fears the batman when they see the light hit the sky Also some random thugs : Who the hEll aRE YoU suPPosEd to bE ?
A good explanation I saw from this is that the train they are arriving from is from Bludhaven, and they aren’t Gothamites
Movie's set during Halloween, they assumed he was just a random nobody and not THE bat. After the beatdown, the thugs say, "Holy sh*t, it's him!"
They apparently didn't get the memo, right Mr. Fox? (I know. Different universe.)
Batman I’m the reason criminals are afraid to go out at night. Random thugs: lmao, you see this guy.
@@midget420 they think I’m hiding in the shadows… oh wait I am
0:57 "...Put the final stake in his twilight sparkle!" Well, friendship IS magic...
He's been putting a stake in his "Twilight sparkle" since 2008. No one hated it more than he did.
pffffffffff I spewed on my monitor at the "8 Parts Seattle" gag X,D SO Freakin' true!
I for one would like to call attention to the incredible fight/action scenes in this movie. No shakey handheld camera, minimal cuts, and actual martial arts
Those action scenes were a bad copy paste of the dark knight series' action scenes. Even Patisson's moves were copied from Bale's.
one of them ripped straight out of equilibrium
Incredible? Nice, where are your from? 1920s?
Actual martial arts? Did we watch the same movie? He looked like a corrupt cop beating someone with a night stick
@@user-sx1dn8xw3d Except they didn't look like garbage? All of Nolan's fight scenes were laughably bad :/
I went and saw it a second time in theaters just for the Batmobile scene. That into and then the car chase. Absolute magic. You felt that car, it was incredible.
batman: i hide in the dark batmobile: i let half the city know, where you at
@@Prizma69 you really gave me a good chuckle, internet stranger. Hope you have a wonderful day❤
The fact that Batman intentionally lets the Batmobile stall JUST to give the Penguin a chance to get into his own car, and thus give him the chance to have the thrill of the chase/hunt, was kinda awesome. At least no one died on the highway...just plenty of fender bender claims, is all.
Yea if you’re a simp.
@4k Cats Chase scene? You mean thoughtless murder spree?
I think this film was genius, it doesn’t glorify Batman, it shows his flaws of being a vigilante and how he could have actually helped people by being billionaire Bruce Wayne and that he has much to grow. People that didn’t like the movie are either too obsessed with action focused flicks, have low attention span or just didn’t get the point being made, although I agree some scenes felt like filler.
in other batman movies he uses his money to donate to charity to, he also doesn't kill people and is able to solve crimes without a carpet dude. Also you're able to tell what's going on.
I didn't like it because the writing isn't very good.
"The Twiknight Saga" That's perfect!
"Collen Ferrell watching the old Daredevil movie" part killed me the most, made my night 😂😂 😂 😂
Too funny 😭😭😭
Honestly, the Joker deleted scene was genius having him blurred and a confidante for solving others mental game. Would work well in the movie if they kept it in and removed the tease at the end
So my thought is, the second half of the final act is not necessary. The roddler is caught, everything is basically wrapped up. The ending would've made more sense if the roddler escaped some how and was the one that said the im vengeance line instead of the random. However, with the joker scene in the movie that ending actually plays a way bigger role. Because with jokers examination we see what batman really stands for currently vs what he should. My thoughts of course but the scene not in the movie very much hurts the ending
nah. it would've completely distracted from The Riddler's grandiose finale. The Joker is a character that was literally created to steal the show.
@@charlespettit7149 Riddler, lol.
@@skywalker6648 I know it's actually a joke with my friends where we call him roddler
@@skywalker6648 my friends made a video called the roddler lol 😆 check out out
Every single batman has their eyes painted black, this is the first one to show it XD
i actually really don’t want another joker, he’s a great villain but we have a definitive performance. give me mr freeze or follow up on the Hush hints
I thought they should have built their way up to him more slowly, save him for the third joint
Movie: "a rat with wings" Me: "It's definitely a bat." Batman: *"it's a falcon"*
I missed that -- I thought he immediately said "a stool pigeon"
which is pretty much a giveaway if you've seen Batman Returns - "Rat with wings -- do your thing!"
I loved the part where the Penguin just goes: the two best detectives in Gotham and they can't figure out that it's LA rata and not EL rata?? These dudes definitely skipped high-school Spanish xD
