    • I agree with Wendy. This sketch format is a great vehicle for impressions. Even if someone has basically five funny seconds of an impression, they can still add it to the mix and use it.

I was in a play a few years ago and last minute they wanted me to play a bigoted character, a small role for a scene, and I couldn't say the f-word(to two men i knew were gay irl) without tears welling up in my eyes. I couldn't separate reality from fiction. And eventually they took me off that role. I don't understand how actors can play roles like that without feeling a piece of them dying.

    • SNL is currently in its 49th season, and, as far as I know, there hasn't been an announcement that the show will end. I can definitely see the idea of "Rejected SNL cast member auditions" being a sketch on either the 50th anniversary special or the show's 1000th episode (it's currently on its 957th episode. Only 43 more to go).

    • Saturday Night Live is a sketch comedy show. If the performers can't perform impressions, they get cut. Why do people get fired from SNL? They can't perform current impressions or write new material.
