As a non-coyote hunter, I’d like to commend you and your group for doing an informative, interesting and entertaining video. And as a landowner who is happy to have one local hunter hunt my property, I’m pleased you had a segment about the part landowners play in allowing hunters to do what they do.
On the topic of gear and success rate.. for any beginners reading this. I got my first coyote with a Bluetooth speaker and “rabbit distress call” from KZhead off hand with an AR15 and a 3x prism scope at 99yards.
That is awesome my friend!!! Are you hooked??
@@OwnTheHunt absolutely. Been after it for a few years now. I live in LA and it’s only about an hour drive to tons of open desert BLM land.
Great video gentlemen. I just started coyote hunting this year and gleaned a lot of good information from this. Well done and thank you!
Thanks for the tips. I hunt down in southern maine and would love to come join you guys for a few stands.
Nice work guys, you did a good job on this talk.
Rob from TheMaineTrack thanks for all the tips guys I appreciate it
Y'all talk about playing the wind. How important is it to use scent spray or what do you use for scent control or how important is that?
Hello and thanks for a good video with guys who know what they are talking about, and not there to sell you something. What I always say that a good teacher will have a way of explaining the subject without talking over your head and watch the persons face to see if they get it or ask challenging questions. Good job keep up the good work. RTQ
Thank you for the kind words!!!! Means a lot
Good stuff guys👍👌
I just added up...if i sell all my coyote hunting stuff i could buy a supercharger for my mustang...very tempting, especially since its getting more popular in my area.
Hahaha that’s awesome!!!!
I just built a grendel coty seems to like his so im hoping i get aome dogs this year with it
What do you guys all do with the coyotes I hear a number of things?
What do you think about the 6.5 creedmoor? In the AR-10 platform? The 95 grain v-max is at 3300fps
I don’t realllt care for ar10 platform I think it’s too heavy.
@@OwnTheHunt that’s true. I have a 22-250 ar-10. I’m having my barrel threaded on my bolt creedmoor right now. Hopefully it’ll help us get some more dogs. We are in Texas and use a high rack out of the truck so there isn’t much walking for us.
Have any of the guys hunting with a 22-250 considered a 22 Creedmoor bolt gun or 22 Arc in ar platform??
They say they won’t trade the 250 for anything.
How important do you find camo is at night? Full moon and cloudy. How far do you typically walk from the pickup to setup a stand at night?
I don’t find camp important at night. If there is snow on the ground then a snow camo or white clothing is best especially if there is much moon light. I like to walk as little as I have to while leaving the truck a ways from where I setup. Typically I’ll end up walking a couple hundred yards in.
I archery hunt that area. Walnut Hill
Yo 👊 ive guided hunts and the lack of gun safety is scary. But hunting alone isn't isn't smart either. Having trusted people with you is best.
What do you guys think about ATN thermals
We don’t care for ATN thermals. They just don’t compete with the other options on the market.
@@OwnTheHunt do you mean they don’t compete by quality or range
@@colewoodhouse4119both. ATN thermals just suck entirely
@@OwnTheHunt what do you think a good brand is for a good price
@@colewoodhouse4119 can’t go wrong with AGM man! Price and performance is there.
Hunger, territorial, breeding, parental instinct, or just plain curiosity. Sound depends on season=success
Im the king of posting dry stands. It is what it is. I dont have a lot of subs and idc. Im having fun out in the woods!
Nice to see no bud light 👍😏
It takes a lot of effort and time locating. No sense in carrying and setting up if nothing is in calling range. I’ve driven over 40 miles trying to locate. It’s easier with snowfall as you can find the track’s crossing roads. Highest population in Michigan seems to be Creek flat areas
That may be true of big wide open plains out west but here in Maine there is so much woods these coyotes are living in that you simply don’t know if there are there or not. Most of the time they are there and just need to be called in.
@@OwnTheHunt. Not out west but do have open farm ground with wooded lot’s in almost every square mile.
North iowa is over populated
Call, local, go after them if they don’t move in.
Remember folks, predator hunting is a great way to have night shooting capabilities and not appear to be an anti-government goofball; you’re just helping property owners manage predation on their land
I honestly feel like our coyotes are different that they are more wolf like. A lot of the ones I see here in maine are usually by themselves. Or they might have another one with them. But that's about it. There's only been a couple handfuls of times where there has been more than three coyotes. Over my fifteen years of trying to cayote hunt
Everyone wants to think they have different coyotes. You don't, there is just fewer of them that's all.
Such a Chooch 😂
Turn your dang radio off, it's very distracting.
Lol!!! Can’t hardly hear it
😂 I was thinking my kids had the radio on in the next room. I went to see and they weren't even in the room.
Sometimes fish bite, sometimes they don't.
Bingo!!!
How irritating, turn the damn radio off!
I don’t know how you can even hear It. Either way, some good content here if you care to watch. Sorry about the distraction.
You guys should move to the 6 ARC. I never have runners. barrel change thats it from a 6.5 grendel. more knockdown power at distance.
Thought about it but really considering a bolt action.
@@OwnTheHunt LAME!
@@OwnTheHunt I got a better idea than a bolt. Build a 22 ARC
@@SgtSlime365 I am not sold on the 22arc yet. I’m honestly looking at .243 or 22-250
@@OwnTheHunt it’s close to 22-250 performance out of a short action round and if you use factory ammo the new 62 grain eld-vt will put a hurtin on dogs I think they got a 75 grain also factory
Best tip is to not take tips from self-claimed 'experts'.
Hahahahaha! Self claimed…more like proven success. Best of luck
I was going to make a comment on Mr. Bigyote’s comment but I will just let it go as it was too vague to nail down his point.
