When I was 16 my Dad let me have his 68 F100, I drove it like it was one of my dirt bikes. Street light to street light ran pretty well, but off road is where the fun began. I didn’t have it real long considering it had a lot of miles on it when I got it. But the memories made in that Truck, still make me smile to this day. No doubt it was built Ford tough.
I remember when this ad came out. It's simply one of the best truck ads I've ever seen. The best part is they NEVER show the 1976 model, only the '68! "Mr. Majestyk" was a good movie with memorable music, characters, dialog, and action. Definitely worth seeing.
Our family still had a '71 F-250 when this came out. I actually wouldn't have minded if they showed the '76's.
This ad may have had the largest influence in the American automotive industry than any other, and I'm a MOPAR fan. Absolutely impressive!
Yeah I'm a Chevy/Toyota guy, but those old Fords were Really built. No computers to calculate the absolute minimum metal they could get away with. My 72 Blazer was a tough boulder bashing truck conquering rocky mountain jeep trails.
my 1971 is still haulin 4 decades later. same engine and trans.
Best ford truck commercial ever ❤️
Just watched this movie! That truck too a beating!!
That’s my daily commute
I know. This is normal driving on farms and ranches especially after a six pack or two.
Ford should start making them like that again
If they did they would last too long. Ford makes money selling them the way they do now. Business is business.
@@PhilMante The planned obsolescence from these companies is beyond obvious now. It's becoming ridiculous. They will act like they are doing you a favor soon even selling you critical repair parts that the aftermarket can't produce.
I have a '94 ranger I bought for 1200 last month. Im gonna see how long that goes.
@@PhilMante I have a 1994 Ford Ranger that I bought used in December of 2009 and I still drive it.
Have a 89 Ford ranger 2.3. Has 240000 miles. Still going strong. New clutch 160000 miles. All I've did in 32 yrs
Got a '65 and a '67. Tough as a mess hall steak! My '01 F-150 ain't nearly that tough but it has gone 193,000 miles nearly trouble free (W/V-6).
if it was the v-8 the timing chains will be gone by now.
@@rearspeaker6364 I don't like the Triton. The Essex V6 is flawless if properly maintained. At only 200 HP, the drive line also fares better.
@@johnbroughton3401 agreed!!
loved this commercial when it came out and still love it today when I used it in a class project.
Good to hear. Glad to help.
person could be a teacher haha
Wow just a week ago there was a 68 F100 a block up my house and all i thought was about was this commercial and the movie it was the same color
Movie truck is an F250
I love that truck from that movie
Muy buen video.. sobre todo para nosotros los conocedores de las ford.
My 1948 F1 is still going.
Sanford and Son truck ?
if you notice every time the scene changes to a truck he says "this" because its this this one & this one & this one ETC ETC They used many many trucks in this movie & if you watch carefully you can tell there's some F100's & F250's being used. Damn good movie & truck action.
+B Ann Every thing I have heard is that it was one 68 F250. I believe IMDB says there was only one. The chase scene was the final run of the truck.
57WillysCJ I haven't seen the movie in years but it seems I do remember seeing a truck with 5 lugs and a truck with 8 lugs. & tough as ford is they won't do jumps like that and keep going for several reasons. www.chacha.com/question/how-many-ford-trucks-did-they-use-in-the-chase-scene-in-the-movie-mr.-majestic "Sixteen different Ford trucks were used during the filming of the chase scene in Mr. Majestyk. The film is based on a novel written by Elmore Leonard." 16, not so tough now huh !
Where is the 16 truck reference. I would like to keep it for future reference.

Thanks.
Ford definitely can't say that now. Besides, who in their right mind would take an 2024 $80K F250 and tear up the hills with it. Yeah, I don't think so!
My dad borrowed one off his boss to MOVE furniture back in the 70s Thought I was THE CATS 🐈 SHITZ RIDING AROUND IN THAT TRUCK HAD MANUAL TRANS PIPES WOULD RACK UNDER THE WEIGHT ! 😌😌
and they say Ford sucks. PUH LEAZE.
like
If I gotta choose the Ford Chevy battle I’ll stand with Ford. They have a better idea usually. I do tons of driving and I’ll bet dollars to donuts I see way more old fords out there then chevies in my travels.
Took Out A 70 Dodge, & a 71 Plymouth in the Movie with the Truck Charles Bronson Took out in Mr. Majestyc in 74.
Used to make great trucks . Had 3 of them. Now the alum body not sure anymore.
Shouldn't rust, stick with the 5L V8 F150 or 7.3L Super Duty.
this is one Ford make good trucks not the garbage that they make now
David Garcia It might be new but I’m hopeful for the 2016 f250 4wd we got at work last year. It looks like they might still build somewhat of a work truck with rubber floors, vinyl seats , wind up windows and no power locks. Oh and it has a real 4wd lever on the floor, and manual locking hubs that won’t break like the automatic stuff. I have no complaints about the 380hp.
Stressed out KZhead exist now that's why they people don't make commercials like this anymore anyone can jump there own truck and have it posted on to KZhead and Ford can do it also without spending a dime on advertisements.
charger master Yea, Someone accepted that challenge and jumped a Ford Raptor as if it was a fucking Trophy Truck.
@@MrTheHillfolk that will live but todays f-150 is a copy of the chevy.
@@rearspeaker6364 you sure ? The 2016 Ford work truck I drive seems to have an awfully flexy frame feeling. Like it's bouncing but it's not moving the suspension. Similar feeling to sitting on a long bridge in your car in stopped traffic and you feel the vehicle bounce up and down. Edit: It's been good , but I've driven it 103k so far.
I agree
Back when ford was tough, you can't do shit like that without the check engine light coming on or something falling off.
TRUCK HECK
And there was that annoying pain in the ass 'Do Not Attempt' message at the bottom of the screen
68
I would say the F250 used in the movie had some fat tires on it. So...that is modified from stock.
Adam Carollie brought me here hehe
93 out of 100 are still on the job. The other seven made it home.
Man couldn't they pick a better color ???? Think the movie people chose that wierd off color ...
Bamboozel96 no They just wanted a 68 f100 end of story.
In one scene drivers headlight is busted a minute later-not!
Scenes don’t have to be filmed in sequence, and rarely are..films are edited. No digital effects, single truck here, too.
The truck was lifted, given new suspension, and god knows what else they did. They did the same thing to the General Lee cars. But still good truck.
Hunter Richie Lol i think this commercial made people buy 68 ford pickups rather then the 76 either way they were both tough trucks.
Hunter Richie yup there was a chevy suspension underneath that Ford truck. There is no Ford suspension that can handle that kind of beating. Or at least not back then. I bet they had broken a couple things during that scene regardless what suspension it was.
ohh yea, because chevy had coils and TIB back then thats how you can tell.... wait...
@@KAMIKAZE_J People still duplicate fords I beams for baha type trophy trucks.
Is that how your supposed to drive ? Drive it like you handle your woman. No gut's, no glory hah.
