  • Finally somebody that knows that starting in ‘78 the choice of round lights with square bezel or higher models like my Ranger XLT had square lights with square bezel. I can’t tell you how many times people would tell me my truck is a 1979 when actually it is a 1978. Knowledge is Golden, ignorance is bliss.

  • Great video. A few corrections though 1. The first year the 302 was available in truck was 1970. 2. The 100 mph was used in trucks 73-76, then in 77 they switched to the 85 mph with kph. 3. 77 was the first year for the 400/351m in trucks. The 400 is not an m and came out in 71. They called the 351m because they destroked the 400 to make the 351m. 4. 77 and up only had the fuel door, 76 and older just had the cap. I’ve always loved these trucks, I have 76 2wd long bed and a 77 4wd short bed and love them. I’d like to have a whole yard full of them like that guys got.

  • Some good info, but a lot of bad info also. Ford's all had drip rails. They did not stop putting the fuel tank in the cab in 1973. The 4x4 was available every year of this body style truck. The square headlights are part of the explorer and ranger package in 1978.

  • 73-75 had the same grill. 76 and 77 had essentially the same grill but with a few minor differences. 1978 and 1979 was a completely different grill and Ford was moved from the grill to the hood. The only difference between a 1978 and 1979 was square headlights were standard on all models in '79. They were available on the Ranger package in 1978 otherwise the round headlights were standard on all models in '78 except the Ranger. Also, the model badges (F100, 150, 250, etc.) were on the front fenders from 1973-76 and moved to the hood cowl for 1977. The package badges (Custom, Ranger, etc) were on the located on the bed underneath the marker lights from 73-76 before being moved to the hood cowl in 1977. 73-76 had external fuel caps and 77-79 had fuel doors.

  • Interesting video, ive got an Australian built 1977 RHD short wheel base 2wd 6 cylinder custom (base model) Mostly like the US models. Difference, besides the steering wheel on the other side is ford Australia used the Aussie falcon steering column and my dash has plastic trim all the way across, i noticed the US models have the plastic trim in the drivers side and a steel dash on the passenger side. Anyhow i prefer the dentsides and for some reason their still one of the cheapest Ford's you can buy here

  • I had 2 1974 Ford F-250 2wd custom pickup trucks. Both had dual tanks, 1 had 1 ton springs and brakes and a trailer brake. Both had 6.4 litre 390 FE motors that I did some mods to the engines. The 1 with 1 ton springs had a 4 speed with a heavy duty clutch I put in. The other had a C6 tranny that I had rebuilt with a shift kit. Either truck could tow just about anything and had Dick Cepek tires on 1, armstrong all season radials on the other.
