I've been a professional mechanic for 10 years and I've always fought the brake cable clips with pliers, the trick you used with the wrench was so easy and made me mad at my self for not thinking of it, haha. Nice work man keep it up

Great Britain up grading the engine up to date nearly 20 years later superman longbed liftkit tires 4wd 1979 f0rd f_250 truck very simple looking and fewer.problems to go wrong if it should happen once again very nicely done ✔️ ..
Hahaha I know you get one side popped out and then try to get the other side out and then it pops back out on the other side…😂 That was super simple, I mean I knew it would work if you had something to fit it properly but I just never took the time to find the right size wrench. 😂 I believe I’ll work smarter not harder from now on. 😅

I want to do this with an 89 Ford Ranger I bought for my Dad. It was the last conversation I had with him before he passed unexpectedly two years ago. I have none of the skills, but I will learn. I appreciate channels like yours that will teach me in time, even if it takes the rest of my life.

Buy an old truck and just take the time to learn. It’s so rewarding when you get done with a project and then you want another project. Those old Fords are super simple to work on. They wanted to make trucks back then that anybody could work on…
Seeing the wife and kids help and encouragement with your build was a blessing. You had the best part of your build long before you ever purchased the truck. Amazing work ethic and talent. The results are absolutely fantastic.

Dodge Power Wagon has it beat as it was the first Work Truck. These 70's Fords do look good though
@libra8a yes, I am referring to the 1947 until 1963? I know Dodge continued to make the 1947 Power Wagon until the mid 1970's for export only and not for sale in the US.

@@thunderheads4103 dodges are shit tho they’re cheaper trucks for a reason and people take the model “RAM” a bit too seriously I don’t see many rams without a giant dent in the front or back because people always hit them with something and they’re cheaper trucks for a reason also go ahead and tap a 2nd gens dash and tell me what happens.... not a lot of trucks do that
This truck came out looking incredible. I loved this era of the Ford pickups. My father had a couple of the 70's and 80's F-series pickups when I was growing up and they always served him well. This one looks great in white. Not a lot of trucks can pull that off.
That was genius. The whole rebuilt and the shooting/editting. Alot of respect.
I bet that kid will be a top notch mechanic by the time he is 15.

DUDE! Just randomly started watching this video and at the end I noticed you were in Phoenix. Then I recognized your house. You sold me your old lincoln 140 welder a couple years ago! Still welding and getting pretty good at it. RAWAH!
Hell yea! That's awesome. I loved that welder, I still think it was better for anything thinner than 20ga than my current Lincoln. Happy it has a good home, but even happier it's getting used.
I've had a successful classic/vintage vehicles restoration business for 30+ years. I'm a 50+ years master level factory certified auto truck tech. Over the years, I've restored/re-freshened/modified 100+ of the '73-'79 Ford F-series trucks. IMHO, they're the best trucks that Ford ever built. I personally own three of them myself.
That dent work was pretty freakin amazing.

I had a 78 F-250 4x4 SC...pulled the 351 and put in a 460 to pull the 5th wheel. The 460 got us to the next gas station faster! Nice job on yours!
When I was little, my grandpa got a 95 F-350 with the 460 and a fifth wheel and I remember him driving from Denver to visit us and he used 100$ in fuel in ONE DAY and my mind was blown. I think fuel was around 95 cents a gallon back then, but I couldn't fathom how someone could use that much fuel in a day.

Hi. I just watched your build and wish I could give you a thousand thumbs up. My first truck was a ‘79 F150, three speed on the column with a simple 300 cubic-inch inline six cylinder. That truck pulled my boat all over the Florida keys and later a horse trailer in California. It was unbreakable and my favorite truck of my forty years of truck ownership, best looking also. Thanks for bringing back the memories.
Glad you liked the video. The 300I6 is one of my all time favorite engines. I have the HD version with forged internals and the high flow manifold that I am going to be building soon for a personal vehicle, I just haven't decided what I am going to put it in yet.
I envy your talent, that was amazing. The truck looks beautiful and I am so glad you went with a 460.

The 460 was a beast used everywhere from motorhomes to pickups pulling big boats and trailers. Great engine.

I love the fact that you didn't go overboard. Improved it over the original. Didn't go bananas on the paint. That truck is worth quite a bit more now and has another 200k miles in it or more!
Anyone who can and does this to an old Ford Dentside is a good man. Lots of hard work, hours and money invested. Your little boy will enjoy this beast after you pass it down to him.
Awesome build, real, not like gasmonkey etc where new parts are just thrown together. Takes a lot of skill to take it totally apart like that. Kudos to you, hope folk folk to you for a build.
I have a 77' LB with 351W and love seeing these build vids. Nothing more enjoying than seeing the beginning to the end especially in one vid! All I'm saying issssssssss WOOOOWWWW. What an amazing job with EVERYTHING. Not sure if you do this as a profession or a hobby but must say you have some serious talent. Also, its so nice to see the family involved as well. Great vid & THUMBS UP!
Thanks for the kind words. This is indeed my profession, but right after this build I took a job at Powernation as the host of Music City Trucks, a new truck show they started. I'll have more details on that job in a video soon.

@@767dag check out the 10th episode of this build at the very end I go over all the finances, but it was a 30k budget but some of the parts like tires/wheels/lift kit weren't included in that
i bought a 1979 ford f 250 from my neighbor, hes an old farmer (not too old lol) and it sat in his farm for about 10 years and i asked if he would let me fire her up for shits n giggles, i threw some starting fluid in it and she roared like a lion back to life. has the old inline 6 the engine that never dies. i ended up working and paying for it last summer, fixed it up and put love into it. great truck. i love fords and their older models. great video man
I have been an auto tech for over 45 years. Have always been amazed at how many mechanics do not know how to disconnect a parking brake cable. Found that a Ford distributor wrench works great for the tight places. Much better than pliers, LOL. Like your vids and the quality of your work. 👍

That was great being able to rebuild the transmission.
I used to rebuild engines with my Dad. I have fond memories of working with him on many engines he would rebuild. It is nice to see someone younger doing it. God Bless you all. Beautiful job. Such memories I have with older trucks.

WOW , love the build ...... my dad had a similar truck when i was your son's age. His was same make and model in hunter green and had the built in tool box on both bedsides. I can remember what my dad did with his truck really impressed me , he would take that big ol' truck threw the same spots where mostly if not all only jeeps n blazers could go threw. Didnt know if it was dad's skill behind the wheel , the truck itself or both. Brought back a lot of fond memories , thank you ..... i want to do a build like this for my dad in honor of him and now i will use this video to help me do so when i find the right truck.

Much as I hate "patina" with the fire of a thousand suns, I have to say that, in this case, I get it. And it's freakin' awesome. You didn't go for all-out, glittering perfection; the kind that renders the truck unusable. You pushed out the dents and patched up the worst of the finish, and, most importantly, you kept it a useful truck. Trucks are cool and I love them, because their whole gestalt is that of a utilitarian vehicle. Great build and well played, bro.

@@AustinCoulson I'm a bodyman and it drove me nuts seeing that truck completely gutted and ready for bodywork but I get it. You don't have to worry about dents or scratches. I still would have made it perfect if it were me but you probably did the right thing.
I have received a bunch of questions on this video and almost all of them are answered in detail in the individual episodes. There are links to those in the description, but for those of you that don't have the time or desire to watch those, here are the answers to the most common questions; Q: Why did you do all that body work and not repaint it!? A: Because the owner and I appreciate trucks that have the original paint, and he uses this truck as a truck so it is bound to get little scratches. Also, it would have increase the cost by around 10k Q: How long did this take? A: 275hrs of labor over 4 months Q: How much did it cost and is it for sale? A: I Charged 30k$ USD for this build, and around 13k$ or so was labor and the rest parts. The owner paid for a lot of additional parts himself. I don't know the exact total into this truck including the truck itself but I am sure it's over 45k. The owner is accepting offers on it and if you email me @ acthecarguy@gmail.com I will pass your info onto him Q: How did you learn to do this? A: Lots of trial and error (mostly error) when I was young. I learned better techniques and how to read technical manuals in the Army as a helicopter mechanic, and last but not least, KZhead Q: How did you become so awesome? A: Awesomeness is passed down from the Mother. Don't believe me, look at my Sister's cookie or look at my wife wet sanding the bed, then see how proficient my Son is at engine building. I have a 1977 F-350 2whl Dr. Camper Special that has gotten me so many compliments and cost me so much time in endless conversations, that it has become like an obsession. Part of me wishes I could've spent all the time that I spent with people, talking about how "COOL" she is, instead, taking her all the way down to the frame,as you did with this truck, but the conversations have been priceless, in the sense of admiration others have expressed for the old Ford! Besides, if she was perfect, I might never make it home for dinner and potentially costing me a divorce with my other wife!👀🤣😂 I have had endless offers from individuals, interested in buying her, but I've had no desire to part ways so far. Should I decide to, I would only do so, provided I had an individual such as yourself willing to take possession and give her the care she deserves! Loved the video. This guy is beyond a true craftsman, he is a one-man factory on his own. Excellent, impeccable, artisan work. I am honestly sorry that I am too far away to snatch this truck from him. He deserves every penny of the price he asks for his work. This is true quality through and through.

these types of projects remind me how badly i miss automotive but doing heavy duty up in northern canada has allowed me access to money that i could never even fathom having access too at 22. i just hope i can make enough money up here to come back south and live a life like this.

My dad and I rebuilt a 1976 Ford F-350 when I was 10. Had a 390 in it. Some of the best memories of my life.

Great job on the best truck ever made. I had a 250. A red wasp got after a kid driving it on the farm and he dead centered a tree. Didn't hurt the kid but ruined the truck. That was 20 years ago and I still miss the truck. Scott

WOW! You're amazing! I'm a great fan of classic cars, and this F-350 is BEAUTIFUL! I remember when my dad told me the story of how he got his F-100, and from there, my passion for old cars was born. I love the Ford F series, and seeing how these wonders are restored today is totally satisfying. ❤❤ In the future, I would like to learn how to restore old cars as well. I remember when that model came out. Job I worked on bought a new one. It was the fanciest and strongest truck I had ever seen. We beat that thing around on the ranch until the bed fell off but it would still go. Spent almost its whole life in 4 wheel drive. Never saw the highway. Ole Yeller...RIP!

Very good, that was a lot of work. A lot more than I would dare attempt. I love the concept of restoring decent older vehicles to be daily drivers. Uniqueness, character, simplicity, minimal inspections, low taxes, all around a winning combo. I dont think today's cars will survive to be classics, they are too complicated and will get too expensive to fix when all the electronics wear out. I'll take vintage any day.
That’s a 1979 factory “Camper Special” as evidenced by the storage in the bed. I had the 1978.5 version (460 ci and a C6) of the same truck and sold it to a high school senior from southern Indiana. Needless to say he was beaming from ear to ear 😁. I miss that truck.
Man this brought back some memories. I had a 79, 3/4 ton, same as this truck. Duel fuel tanks, white paint, tool box on the side, same color interior. Wish I'd never sold it now. I loved that truck.

They called em all gas guzzlers and sent em to the crusher. Modern V6 and V8 engines aren't any damn better on fuel, they aren't and will not be anything close to as tough and reliable as the 70s trucks.

I've got a 95 F250 that I bought off my cousin, definitely needs work in quite a few places. I just wish I had the knowledge to start on it, I don't know the first thing about working on something like this. All I've done so far is replace the blower motor and I thought that was pretty good for myself. Beautiful build you made. Maybe one day I'll be able to tackle my own.

Seems like you touched every nut and bolt. The love, time, effort etc that went into it, I can't even imagine, I'd probably have a stroke. I sat back drank my coffee and thoroughly enjoyed it. absolutely gobsmacked. Well done. Truely a disappearing craft. Most people have zero idea on the level of patience and passion it takes. I can't do it myself, but as a trained aircraft mechanic that did everything we manuals, and labels, and quality assurance, i am COMPLETELY impressed by folks who can take it all apart and get ti back together again just off the head. Just honestly struck dumb by people who can do this cold. Can't congratulate you enough. Must feel stunning. SO much respect.
Thanks for the kind words. My only technical training came as a helicopter mechanic in the military, so I can relate. You are right about the patience required to do a build like this, but the freewheeling nature of building a restomod makes it so much fun. It's so much less stressful to test a build like this around the block after it's done vs a test flight.
Awesome it looks amazing. Always had the 79 ford's bouncing around in my head . My dad had a red 79 ford and I remember bouncing around on that spring seat happy as could be. I loved that truck. Now adays I always want one, it's 1 of the 3 cars I always wished I'd get.hope 1 day. Best wishes
