  • I'm 77. Thanks for letting me join your conversation. When I was 17 I listened to classical music for the first time, as a university freshman who stumbled into the music room of the university library one day. A nice librarian explained the setup to me. There was a row of turntables to play 33 LP albums, with large headphones attached -- the leathery type that made us listeners look like WWII dive bombers. The sound quality was heavenly. The librarian introduced me to Bach, Beethoven, Handel, Mozart, Chopin, Debussy, dozens of other composers. And to virtuoso performers, now long gone, but their music lives on in their rich legacies of stunning talent embraced by unique and mesmerizing interpretation. That gift to me at age 17, my introduction to classical music, has stayed with me all these years, and for that I am eternally grateful.

    • @@neztanizaki2346 Claude Debussy actually lived in the early 20th century (1900's), during the Impressionist Period. During this period, composers often wrote music in an impression of the classical style of their predecessors. This is often called neo-classical music because it sounds similar to music of the classical era, but it is not. In addition, many composers who lived during the Impressionist Period were heavily influenced by the artists of that era. For example, most of Debussy's works are his musical impressions of the paintings of the French artist Monet.

  • Growing up during the 60s and 70s I was always a follower of Rock music, but lo and behold, in my uncle's home where I lived ten years, every saturday and Sunday he woke us up with his Grand piano playing many of these compositions. He was an opera singer as well, so that influence finally reflected me in me little by little, particularly on Saturdays, when it didnt feel right without Bach, Mozart or Wagner, I often went to bookstores around greenwich village new york on Saturdays or Sunday, and stay there for hours, reading art history, the occult or classic bohemian writings, while listening to the clasical pieces played in the store. It was always so peacheful and different from the world out there, and it meant home to me.. and now as I turned 69 here I am writing and listening to the subterranean classical influence in my destiny...

  • I’m in the room with my grandma dying...I’m playing this because when I was younger, I would always spend the night at her house and wake up and we would go walk somewhere, everytime when I got in her car she would have classical music playing, so Right now she’s dying and I hope she can hear me playing this trying to comfort her... I love you nana.

    • I'm so sorry.. :( it is really tough, but at the same time it's special to spend the last moments with her. She can definitely listen the music and I'm sure she is so grateful that you are there with her. You are a great grandson! She is going to leave this world in peace and you helped her with that. Be in peace with yourself as well! The grief of loss is the price we pay for the gift of love (Colin Murray Parkes). Big hug from Barcelona! (Sorry if I made mistakes, English is not my language).

  • Right now, there are people all over the world who are just like you. They're either lonely, they're missing somebody, they're depressed, they're hurt, they're scarred from the past, they're having personal issues no one knows about, they have secrets you wouldn't believe. They wish, they dream and they hope. And right now, they are sitting here reading these words, and I'm writing this for you so you dont feel alone anymore. Always remember, don't be depressed about the past, don't worry about the future, and just focus on today. If today's not so great don't worry! Tomorrow's a new chance. If you are reading this, be sure to share this around to make others feel better. Have a nice day! :)

I sat down and play Saint Saens-The Swan. I started thinking about past and how I was happy when I had nothing, so why not now when I lost what I had that I never had before. The music ended and I stood up and walked away. I realized the purpose of life is simply to experience it.

It basically made me realize that to win, I just had to surrender to the game's pattern. Just accept whatever blocks comes down and just deal with it. If it fits it fits. If not, eventually the pattern will sort itself out. Just...relax. Surrender. Zen.😊

In reality, not all of us will be able to be with ALL of their loved ones. Some of us have already lost relatives due to the pandemic. Yet, we can hope for best and pray it will be over soon and good days will come back.

I don't typically play music, but started playing this album today and a 3-inch hummingbird has been so fascinated, he/she has been perched on a branch outside of our screened-in home for hours. Amazing he/she sits still for so long. Every so often he/she flies away, but then comes right back. There seems to be some head bobbing and wing spreading every so often. Clearly, you have made an impression. Gracias from Central America!

She was well loved for her beautiful playing and her kindness and inner beauty. I'm sure Chopin contributed to that. • I love classical music because there is so much going on in one song, each note represents a character, a emotion, dialogue. Theres romance, death, despair, love, sadness and hope. I love to close my eyes and imagine I'm in the music, skipping to each note, waving to each person that walks by, Taking a sip of tea and it being to sweet. There is so much life in classical music, I wish I could BE the music.

  • Just imagine how different the times were. Nowadays we can do things such as search and listen to any classical piece our hearts desire. Over and over. But back then, if you wanted to hear music you had to wait for a composer, orchestra, or some live rendition of a written piece to be played. Or you had to learn an instrument and play for yourself. Which wasn't as easy as it is today. Music is soundtrack of life itself, a universal language that even if we all cant speak it, we all can understand it. Hope everyone is staying safe, and same during all this craziness.

I personally don’t really pay attention to the lyrics and I started to get invested to other genres once I listened to them more so genres like classical, jazz, boss’s nova might be unusual. I want more people to explore other genres tho.
