CHOPIN - Nocturne No 2 in E Flat Major Op 9 No 2 (60 minutes)
Performer : Frank Levy
The Nocturnes, Op. 9 are a set of three nocturnes written by Frédéric Chopin between 1830 and 1832, published that year, and dedicated to Madame Emily Chopin. The second nocturne of the work is widely regarded as Chopin's most famous piece, and is regularly featured in films, television programs and video games. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nocturn...
The Chopin nocturnes constitute 21 pieces for solo piano written by Frédéric Chopin between 1827 and 1846. They are generally considered among the finest short solo works for the instrument and hold an important place in contemporary concert repertoire. Although Chopin did not invent the nocturne, he popularized and expanded on it, building on the form developed by Irish composer John Field.
The nocturnes numbered 1 to 18 were published during his life, in twos or threes, in the order of composition. Numbers 19 and 20 were actually written first, prior to Chopin's departure from Poland, but published posthumously. Number 20 was not originally entitled "nocturne" at all, but since publication in 1870 as such, is generally included with publications and recordings of the set. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nocturn...

  • When life gets hard, remember that Chopin lived a simple life. He loved and was heartbroken. He was a virtuoso and died young aged. His work has transcended time. You don't have to be rich to be happy and become a good influence.

  • When i moved in my grandma's house to take care of her i notice that every morning my grandma plays this in her little cassette. I asked her one time why. And she told me this and i just started crying.😭💔 He's dead for almost 7 years but i still see him in my dreams. I never consider him as a ghost for your grandpa never left me. You see, Whenever i look outside my window i still see him. As i lay down in my couch i can hear him playing the piano. I can hear him singing like an angel. When the drapes are tied from the window and the cassette begins to play i know he's already there. And this masterpiece was your grandfather's favorite if only i could dance with him for the last time. I was hoping if i play this every morning he might hear me and maybe one day he'll come visit me and dance with me one last time before i die.

    • +Dee Pattison That's an interesting reaction. When I look at the same piece, I find sweetness combined with stinging dissonance. This is evident if one analyzes the harmony, which I have had to demonstrate for music theory students. I think that the elegance of Chopin hides a lot of pain. We live in a world of beauty, yet marred by all kinds of evil and suffering on account of SIN. Great art reflects that fact of our existence, our need for redemption. Holy Scripture and holy art speak of redemption itself.

  • Buenas noches. Junto a mi hermana.

Felicidades.

    @flfun2no@flfun2no4 жыл бұрын
    • +Frankly Frank I don't have a favorite composer, although I can't think of any whom I like better than Mozart (whose music Chopin admired, along with Bach's). But I can tell you, having taught from Chopin scores in music theory class (including this nocturne), that Chopin's craftsmanship was tremendous. He didn't write just out of pure 'inspiration'; he had expert knowledge and understood his own limitations better than most. Maybe he was too self-critical; if he had his way, some of his most popular compositions would have been destroyed. (Proverbs 22:29) 'Do you see a man skilled in his work? He will stand before kings; he will not stand before obscure men.'

    • Samedi for me and my father who died last year with the strong hope he was at least reaching my mother gone in 1987 Hope was his last vow during sickness ans age dysfunctions for a better future than the present he was living. But in the last fourty he was becoming dumb : the most difficult result due to his great age, it was tough for him who was pianist and used to play Chopin to calm his nerve and be positive and optimist

    • MrTribalsun I wish it were that simple my friend. Unfortunately people aren't all that inclined in this way of thinking and musical sublimity, this world is a sorry state of affairs and it seems to be getting worse. I for one feel bad for those in the present and the children that have to wade through the world picking up past generations mistakes. Anyway friend I shall keep listening here for a while then I must depart. Good day/evening to you sir/madam.
