You asked for it, you got it: The dance scene, thanks to Mavis Staples and Curtis Mayfield!

People that gave this a thumbs down either can't dance or don't like seeing Black people being positive.

That's a great story. The author found a really rare Swiss interview with Dilla and heard the track on record and thought what's the deal. Then he watched the movie and saw how the beat was off. Good job running that down.

It's the other races that wants to be Black!! everything we do is emulated by whites especially.. Know your history son,...Blacks have always lived in the "Golden Age" in fact, we started it. Remember the Mother Land is Africa!! and it wasn't until "Whites Anglo Saxons" came and destroyed the world. Blacks have built this country so its time for us to rest! the Whites have brought drugs and diseases to this country (Ask the Indians). And you're right EVERY race has fu**"d up people even you! @virgilwyatt46323 жыл бұрын
@John Rodriguez I know that the last movie doesn’t have anything to do with the first 2. They don’t even use the same character names. But historically, the set is listed as a TRILOGY. I know what a sequel is but I'm not the one listing the movies as sequels. In all actually, neither one of the movies had nothing to do with other. Calvin Lockhart, Bill Cosby & Sidney Poitier all used different character names in the 1st two movies. I research my information even when people tell me otherwise. So in this case, no one told me anything.

Hey.... I loved the movie when I saw it in my teens....I'm still loving the movie, in particular, this scene scene in my fifties. You got to know how to have fun and laugh as much as you can, all we have is today. Check out Mr. Cool, James E Jones, as he just grooves. Mr. Cosby is a straight crazy, as he just wants to have fun and laugh. But Mr. Poitier, check him out, he knows that he's really getting his groove on. My Hollywood aunts, Ms.Hope/Ms. Denise, my sister Sheryl, they're all beautiful as they're just having a ball. Hey people, It's okay to laugh and enjoy life, while we serve and walk in Christ. God gave us all the gift of life, the present. @@cali.songbird most of his songs feature snare drums or claps that are slightly early, which was inspired by this song. it's part of what causes his special feel, but not all of it. "Reminisce" by bilal is one of my all time favorite beats, though...try that one

People that gave this a thumbs down either can't dance or don't like seeing Black people being positive.
I was thinking the same thing
It must be true then.
youngofasho2 Hell! I say both!
@@jenuwinmoore9258 could be
Jenuwin Moore Definitely! They’re having a good time, dancing. No harm done here.
For those who don't know this was the scene that spawned J Dilla's off beat clap production style and the rest is history, RIP JAY DEE!
man this is so extremely wild to see
I’m reading Dilla Time rn & just got to the part of the book that describes this epiphany
Dilla Time brought me here
Rest in beats king Jay dee dilla month🕊️
Damn you was trying to be the first to bring this up
Makes me teary eyed how great our movies used to be…
That girl with the blue jumpsuit and mushroom did that damn robot!
R.I.P SYDNEY POITIER for giving us a piece of the Action.
Dilla Time brought me here. So dope that the slightly off beat claps in this scene inspired J Dilla's drum programming, which would go on to revolutionize music.
I just read that part and I was brought here too Dilla a straight up genius. Wonderful book so far.
I'm here because of the book too. Thrilled that this and early Ssenepod tracks are available on KZhead
great book so far
That's a great story. The author found a really rare Swiss interview with Dilla and heard the track on record and thought what's the deal. Then he watched the movie and saw how the beat was off. Good job running that down.
I remember being at the movies with my older sister, and everybody dancing in the isles at the end of the movie during this scene. Best days of my life! R.I.P. Sis 1963-2007..
Now that's a memory to remember.
Those were the days
❤️❤️❤️
Sorry for your loss! RIP to your sister!
Unfortunately I was born in 78 I missed it. I wish I was there tho lol
Just watched this movie again and thinking to myself if someone ever built a time machine.....I would go right back to this period, mid to late 70s. The music, the cars, movies, TV shows all were great.....just the whole vibe!!!!!
I'd be right with you.
I would too !!!
Love this movie.....especially the the ending scene Rest In Paradise Mr. Poitier
He got down, didn't he? R.I.P Mr. Poitier.
100% agree
@@shortblockflexinit5219 he tried 🤣🤣🤣🤣
There should be a " where are they now" on Bryan Odell, Tamu, Tracy Reed, etc. They are all good actors and actresses from this time period however, you hear nothing about them!🤔🤷🏽♂️, maybe many of them are living quiet lives or have passed on!🤔
Back then you didn’t mind sitting in the theater watching a movie over / over. RIP Mr Poitier 🙏🏾
I love Black People for their soul...the salt of the earth!!!

There was something special about those days...
It really was!👍👍
Tre A yes, we seemed to lean on each other more to overcome obstacles
Man you have stated something that could not be more true!
Things were leveled. There was still a community centered base. White establishment saw it, and ushered in crack that totally annihilated everything that this was. Along with social integration.
A classic movie with classic song tracks.
I loved watching Mr. Sidney Poitier dancing. He looked so free and like he was really enjoying himself😀
Delicious. Delicious, Delicious!!! Mavis sing it!
FINE Deniece Nicholas; GOOD-LOOKING Sheryl Lee Ralph; and, ALL of the BEAUTIFUL BLACK SISTAS. The GREATS: James Earl Jones, Sidney Poitier & Bill Cosby. Just PURE SOUL. The Seventies...NOTHING like the 70s!!!!!!!!! Worries were Minute then - which was NO worries AT ALL. LOVE/D, MISS, ADORE N CHERISH those Days, Times & Moments.

Her dancing really set off that scene!!
May the souls of Mr. Mayfield and Mrs. Staples forever bask in the endless love we still have for them..

I loved the speech that Sidney gave the kids about common courtesy and respect. We need more of that today, y'all, strong black man teaching the youth how it's done.
lol they out here but they get cancelled as soon as they speak up.
Strong Black Independent Women don't want no Black Man saying anything to their Kids And the Public Schools don't want them there. Thank You Black Women for showing the World how to disrespect your own Men. The only race of Women that day,: I don't need a Man but willingly take his seed, bore a baby and put him on Child Support. Amazing how the Black Women have changed.

This Bullshit don't deserve a response and with that kind of statement and having the last name of "White" that's mighty "White" of you!! I would go further into shit but I'm at work (Not Lazy) so until then Fuck you and anyone who looks like you. Fckn racist!!.
The afros we wore back in the day, it is just amazing to notice the change. Brings back memories.
They appear to have made a strong comeback.
I crack up every time I see Bill Cosby doing The Bump with the big girl, and pretends like he's about to fall over. LOL! 😂😂😂

Watching this Movie & this Scene and Listening to this Song makes me Feel as SAD as it does GOOD. It brings back a Very Special Time, Decade & Era when Life was Better - GRAND...less was More!!! When it was LOVE and UNITY & TOGETHERNESS. I would do ANYthing for those Days, Times & Moments to Come Back. I WISH I could Turn Back Time n Stay There - FOREVER.
yes... sure you right
Reggie Starke i feel the sadness when I think back to how life was in the 70's well heck the 80's and 90's also b cuz after 9/11 seems like things took a 👃 dive 👇😕
I hear you Reggie! You took the words right from my heart. When and if I die of old age, I want my family around my bedside and would not mind looking at one of these types of movies when I check out. Because I would leave with a smile.
Reggie I couldn't agree with you more!!! What a wonderful time to be alive!
Yeah brings tears to my eyes!
Love how Sister Big Bone was doing the Bump at the end right before that slow fade to cast and crew credits.(However, I wished they hadn't faded out early so we could've seen the rest of the dance footage! But it is what it is lol!)
THERE'S NO MUSIC BETTER THAN OLD SCHOOL MUSIC!!! PERIOD.
I thought about this scene had to watch it 😄 as a kid I LUVED going to the movies to see Bill & Sidney movies I.e. Uptown Saturday Night, Let's do it Again 💗
And this was the sequel to to Let's Do It Again."
@John Rodriguez Yeah, it was. It was a three movie set.
I feel like I was born in the wrong decade 🤦🏾♀️ 70s seemed so fun and carefree!
Nah the struggle was REAL then
Sidney Poitier and Sheryl Lee Ralph was cutting that rug! #RealDancing
Sidney really suprised me 😹😹😹he got mad energy
They gotta be the coolest race on the planet... they can dance, sing, act, run, fight & make people laugh ✌️💯
Such positive black movies back in the day - one of my favs!
This still sound Funky classic at same time, Curtis love your Music
Gi Joe Harris i knw
One of my favorites. I love this end scene. Great time. Great music. I feel good to my soul when I watch this.
this song and the whole Car Wash soundtrack are what converted me into a full-tilt soul music lover...ended up amassing thousands of vinyl lps (without any regrets)...
The car wash soundtrack was more disco than soul.
Pharrell must’d sampled the Jay Z song Change Clothes from this track.

A lot of them went on to become Soul Train dancers and remained actors as well ❤
I love these sistas dancin around with their natural hair! So sexy and classy! Look at the way they're dressed! ...and Ms. Staples could sing,,
Still groovy in 2019. "Delicious main attraction; your share...a piece of the action"❣
N the ending song made u want to get everybody together n make a soul train line n get it started all over again!
brings back great memories. we could dance our buts off. nobody in this day dances like we did. this was the way. miss those days
I seen some of these faces in good times, whats happening and other shows with our people in em
The birth of J. Dilla. He said this inspired his synth of rhythm because the claps (added later) were falling out of sync with the track and giving that slightly off, drunk feel.
RIP, Sidney Poitier he was gett'n it 😊🙏🏾👍🏾
You can already hear it at 0:17 - It's amazing how an unintended "happy accident" just happened to catch the ear of the right man and would end up revolutionizing the way a generation would interpret rhythm. Beautiful stuff.
Yeah, i was 8 yrs old when this came out. My Mother used to play this song over and over. I still like it.
Bill Cosby is so crazy, LOL!!!
A mad genius is Cosby lol just look his facial expressions
So I'm told today that this number's behind-the-beat handclaps are the prime inspiration for J Dilla's production style and numerous imitators.
yep, I'm here from the book. this is like witnessing a superhero's origin story!
If you read the book “Dilla Time” this is moment that inspires a young James Dewitt Yancey to become the legend we now know as J Dilla... 🥁✨
Uptown Saturday Night, Let's Do It Again and Piece of the Action; Now that's an awesome comedic trilogy!!!! A must-see.... the scores are just as awesome!
Loved the movie for all times then/now. The mesh of the young/mature. The so called poverty pimps, the hustle of Poitier/Cosby, the retired detective J.E Jones, scoping the whole scene. They all play it out for a win, win. The ending sound. "A PIECE OF THE ACTION" CAN BE JAMMED TO ALL NIGHT NIGHT!!!!!!!

Give your love, life in serving and pleasing GOD, enjoy family, your mate and friends, love and be kind to others, smile and LIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
