Saya Nomi: Forging the Essential Japanese Scabbard Chisel
The process of forging a Japanese scabbard chisel, inspired by an awesome video by @WalterSorrellsBlades
I used ball bearing steel for the blade, a brass ferrule made by repurposing pipe fittings, and maple wood for the handle. For now, I went with a rounded shape, but I'll test it out to see if I also need a flat one when I start working on the scabbard for my wakizashi.
Thanks a lot for watching, I hope you liked the video!

Blackbeard you have the coolest scrap pieces that you grab material from, and you've become one of my favorite smiths with your beautiful work. Thanks for sharing!
Nice job! Im making one now. If you make scabbards then this tool is a must! Forge On!!!
Well done. All of your creations are pieces of art and beautiful objects as well as being useful working tools.
To know how to use tools is really cool, but to know how to build them is just awesome !!!
The fastest power hammer known to exist.
Your powerhammer seems to run like a dream. What a beautiful piece of equipment and what a restoration. Nice chisel BB.
Idk what it is or why but the sped up power hammer made me chuckle😂

Nice tool! Please, can you make a short to explain how you use the "press", i'm really curious... And French... ;-) Thank you for your job.
I have two foot switches on the floor to move the piston up or down and one adjustable limit switch to set a specific thickness. You can find two videos on the subject in my channel: one about restoring and modifying this press and another on the limit switch mod. Thank you!

Easy if you have the tools and skills
That's exactly the purpose of this channel. Showing what is possible to do having tools and skills.

Nice work BB, but why use the ballbearing cage?
why not? it's usually made of very good steel and is readily available... 😽
52100 steel, usually of exceptional purity (for ball bearings that last) - roughly 1% carbon, + chromium. Oil hardening, gets *really* hard. Takes and retains a keen edge.
Thanks for the info 😁👍
🙂👍👏👏🙌
Semlice curiosità: sei Italiano?
It's a good job, but I feel like you don't have enough motivation to do special things like before
Dude… he made Ashbringer like a month ago
@@TomatePasFraiche 🤫 it's for giving him more motivation but in an indirect way... 😉👌
