As the war in Gaza enters its 200th day, FRANCE 24’s Delano D’Souza is joined on set by Arwa Damon, founder of INARA (International network for aid, relief and assistance), a charity set up to help children impacted by war. "I have never seen anything like this in my 20 years reporting from war zones," said the former CNN correspondent who recently came back from a humanitarian mission in Gaza. "Despite the images that we are seeing, I don't know if there is a sufficient appreciation to the sort of depths of trauma that is being inflicted on people every single day."

I was in an refuge camp as an 8y old, 3x per day I would bring a gallon size ice cream tub to the soup kitchen to fill it up with whatever was being offered and bring it back for my family to eat. I was lucky I didn't lose any direct family members. Evey day was about the same for the kids but sometimes we wake up go to makeshift school though by other refugees, usually we just try to pass the time with nothing really productive to do. This is where the humanitarian aid workers play such an important part in the kids life, I will never forget getting toys and snacks, most of the time we didn't even speak the same language so we would learn kids songs and dances in the language of the aid workers, I remember one time we learned if you re happy and you know it clap your hands in Italian. I had no idea what we were saying until later in life, but we remembered the words and movements. I don't remember their names anymore of those aid workers because I'm and adult for a while now and at that time I didn't even realize how important they were in my life but if anyone reads this I just want to say: Thank you, you made a difference!!!!

And the box of medications that was given to them to pass out to the Hostages who needed these daily, prescribed meds were later seen on a desk. They were never handed out!

You do know that Hamas gained popularity with Gazans after their founding by performing such work, right? They did multiple different kinds of social programs. Schools. Food drives. The PA was also corrupt and Palestinians were suspecting they were selling them out to the Israelis. Now that there has been one election, Hamas has been their only choice of a governing authority for the past almost 20 years. None of this excuses the Israeli government continuing to commit atrocities against Gazans in both this siege and previous sieges.
Also there were 8 refugee camps in Gaza when this started, and many of them have been there for decades because Israel stealing land by force and abusing Palestinians has always been the core issue here. From the beginning.
