The Gaethje fight gave a younger talent a shot at the belt when Tony really didn’t have to risk the shot against Khabib. Then the Oliveira fight introduced Charlie into the title picture (leading to him becoming champion) and Beneil Dariush becoming much more known by the masses since the fight and is now 1 big win away from staking a title challenge. Even though he lost those fights, it was a huge win for whoever he was fighting opposite of as well as the UFC and their bottom line. The general argument can be made that even if someone isn't a big name yet and they are fighting a fan favorite or a prospect, the former should be compensated well because they are helping to build the brand of the latter fighter and by extension, the company. They for damn sure will be used in the highlight reel material even if on the losing end.

    • So, imagine if Gaethje and Tony ferguson win in impression fashion. They might setup a rematch for the title. Gaethje vs. Ferguson part 2. IT would sell HUGE, and the fans would be so excited to see Tony get another shot at a title. Anyway I think Tony is actually going to win this. But if he doesn't win, there's a real chance that he takes brain damage in this fight.

    • @@nothing-ei3oc it's likely, but because there are many gaps in his thought process, it doesn't he is not coherent, it may also be that he is asking you to fill in the blanks, read between the lines, keeping some mystery and not being so blunt to not piss everybody off at the UFC. It may be lazy to call someone crazy or incoherent.

    • @@passofar Is this the first time you’ve watched a tony presser? He wasn’t asking anyone to “read between the lines”, that’s just how his thoughts flow. Chaotic. Like his fighting style. Which while entertaining, doesn’t facilitate longevity.
