  • Blue malding is hilarious. From the replays I've seen that does seem to be a problem in this game. Some people just can't take the L without berating all their teammates and turning into gremlins.

  • What ive been doing with ally metal is taking it and offering it back whenever they want. This is really useful on meme straights in the flex position: starting with hovers allows you to take the 3 mex in the bay which generally don't get looked at for a good deal of time (and also ties in nicely with tidal in the lake). I still have to work out the build order because the factory is expensive, but its showing promise.

  • I love this video and i love your content Drongo, i learnt a lot of stuff from your videos. However im not considering myself as a pro or even a decent player, im just a random noob who mainly plays air and i would share my mindset over this role. However may i be wrong, (please tell me if im) but.. I have just noticed a couple mistakes that i would and i think its worth to mention, i suggest spreading your eco A LOT more, you have plenty amount of space and you dont take that space permamently, you will reclaim your wind after the first afus as an air player anyways which is around the 15-20 minute mark. In the current scenario if somebody just start to spam ticks, and 1 gets through half your economy and build power would be gone. The other thing is, make your lategame eco as far away from the the frontline as possible most likely in the safest spot near the strongest (not highest os) player. On glitters if somewhere a frontline will fall, thats gonna be the valley, no matter what its gonna be the weakpoint in 9 out of 10 games. After the first afus you would be good for making 10-20 T1 and T2 cons, T2 for spreading AA in the frontlines, since nobody else will. T1 to spam those construction turrets all around your airlab. You will be able to use those AA for your advantage, for example baiting enemy fighters into it, to get the air advantage right before a preplanned bombing run. The other, whole different thing is, i feel like most of the players think cortex is stronger and armada is weaker in the air.. This is just so wrong, and i can explain why do i believe that. In my personal opinion armada air is more like a hit and run and tactical gamestyle (which i prefer and which i use) since their units are faster, also armada T2 units may doesnt have higher dps, but they do have the burst damage for those hit and run capabilities, for example, nuke bomber, emp bomber. You drop the bombs and you fly away right before the enemy air can even react. And cortex is more like a siege gamestyle. However, the other reason why i like armada air is i feel like armada has a bit more options in the air than cortex does, you have a bit higher impact to the game and you can have a bit more pressure to the enemies, however cortex air is sightly stronger, tankier, and slower as well (also their bombers doesnt spread damage that much) but i believe you have a lot lesser options if you want to be a bit more tactical. This armada vs cortex air thing should be investigated in one of your videos, i would really like to hear your opinion about it. ❤

  • i'd suggest to make couple of transports. 1 for best player. 1 for your self... maybe 1-2 for techer if you have a techer to distribute t2. also if i'd get to t2 air... my favorite thing is to make t2 mexes for allies

  • vehicles are metal sinkers with more staying power than bots, in paper bots have more dps and should be better cost efficient in metal/energy numbers, but having more range, hp and speed, cars can build up and do a death push at some point. in team games, backlines armata making t2 cars can give an engineer unit to frontline that enables them hounds, withouth the need of ever making a t2 lab. the cortex twitch can only make firefiends and the build up of t2 cars can still happen if enemy went for bots. depends more on the map of course, but here in all that glitters, that is mostly plains i believe that going for cars is a no brainer.

    • Vehicles are pretty much just better than bots on all accounts for frontline action. They have sturdier raiders, terrifyingly fast tanks, mortars that defeat all means of defense except for plasma turrets, and a specialized firepower vehicle for each faction, both of which decimate bots. You can have more bots, but their firepower diminishes faster due to low durability, and you may have rezbots to RRR on the battlefield, but it doesn't help that much if you're pushed back by the sheer power of vehicle fist. In my experience on the frontline, bots compete with bots and vehicles compete with vehicles, but vehicles always win against bots and also easily maneuver around them to strike the eco/backline if so desired. In the end, you really go for bots if you have other plans for the resources you're saving, and so all tech/eco builds begin with bots, because they're just better for starting an economy. Unless you're playing on something like Carrot Mountains or DSDR cliffs, where the use of vehicles is generally limited by terrain, a vehicle build will always assert dominance on the front unless subdued and contained by another vehicle player from another lane or a backline support.

  • Please consider: Have you tried spamming control groups on that 1st bombing run?? If you have good position as you did, its extremely efficient to minimize overkill where 3 bombers kill the target and the other 9 bomb a dead building; and it spreads your dmg to minimize time lost while dealing max destruction. Say youve 20 bombers...set 2 on each group 2-0 with ur fighters on 1. Lead w fighters as u do (scout 1st for bldg positions or this dont work), then as ur bombers are still on route, quickly issue commands 2-0 on different structures in their base. Ex. if theyve a large group of wind, att2 on upper left turbine, att3 on right 2nd row, att3 on middle, att4 on bottom etc...this destroys entire turbine farm in 1 pass...use 2 or 3 groups to single pass their lab and maybe a couple on constrction bots if u can see them, or a few on a couple different mexes (know how many bombers it takes to single pass the target and use just enough to do so). Here, a single pass kills the target, but since youre targeting multiple spots in the base, you destroy most of the base in the fly-over rather than one spot. Now use ur strategy of single pass/keep moving to keep ur momentum going and go straight to next base not using time to turn and re-pass. If nnext base is too close to have reloaded or for u to reissue all the commands, simply hit every-other base as you move across the back never slowing to reattack the same spot. Keep moving, hitting multiple targets w each group 2-0 across the back, circling up to front then back across the bases you skipped doing every other one. If youve opportunity as u did in this game, this strategy if pulled off correctly can nearly base-wipe 2-5 players in a minutes time; its catastrophic damage when executed properly. Even if some have basic AA...only doing a single pass hitting many spots simultaneously still ensures maximum destruction with very few losses as you'll have entered and exited the AA range quickly, only losing maybe a couple bombers (fighter lead can also help distract AA). Also pretty good is to leave a single control group at each base to continue attacking while you micro out the rest on the next base if they had no AA, causing further dmg to the remaining infrastructure. It can be tricky to execute smoothly so many commands quickly, and you must scout/plan out ahead of time your general movement path, but when youve air dominance like this game the technique can easily cause instant gg.

    • You should, played TA as a kid, and supcom for the last couple years, tried BAR some years ago, but it felt weird in comparison to FAF and didn't feel like learning another complex rts game, as FAF already took a long time to get somewhat out of noob stage. But the recently started watching yt vids and streams which eased the initial learning stage, and I must say I enjoy it more than FAF now, the games go faster usually, more newer players to play with, I like the mirco more, and the engine is more up to date and under active development, and open source. And it works perfectly on linux, which is my main OS these days, no need to boot to windows to play a game.

  • why do you say t1 fighters are cost effective? That is the opposite of my thoughts. T1 fighters are useful, because all fighters are extreme glass cannons, so T1 fighters can still rapidly kill things. Just like T2 fighters. But T2 fighters cost about 30% more, don't show up on radar, do quadruple the dps, outrange T1 fighters, move 25% faster, and have almost double the health. There is absolutely nothing I can identify about T1 fighters that makes them cost effective, given how they are dramatically worse at killing bombers, given you need 3 seconds to take down a single whirlwind, while a T2 fighter can do it in 1. Useful? of course, because fighters in general are very cheap, very high dps, and often fighting stuff that cannot hit back. But COST EFFECTIVE?

  • People resigning/quitting are just very competitive. A newer player can really determine the game for the rest of the 7. And you just don't know how good your team players are in this. Brand new players start the game at rank 17 instead of 1. I think if the game did stats like how many times you chose front line/mid line/back line and then show that you won games in those positions it would help determine a few things as to what kind of a player you are. Just a bit of fine tuning. Or have unranked games where it doesn't matter if you lose your rank isn't affected.

    • If they care that much they'd play 1v1. The kind of people that sperg out in team matches know full well that they depend on teams as a crutch and aren't confident in standing on their own merits with no one else to blame.

    • In FAF you can just see the number of games next to the rating, which imo is simple to implement, and gives a lot of info, they have many lobbies that have min or max played games, which imo works better than min max rating at least for beginners vs somewhat experienced noobs. For high rated lobbies the rating works better.

      @frydac@frydac10 ай бұрын
    • The base rating actually starts at 25, with an uncertainty factor of 8.33, which gives the starting balance rating of 16.67. Given how many people have gone down to 1 or below balance rating, it might actually be better if they started everyone higher and did a one-off rating increase. Might also be better to start with a higher uncertainty amount. Starting ratings lower wouldn't actually help anything and might make it worse if you don't allow ratings to cover the full range of player effectiveness levels by capping the bottom.

    @Jinz-re2hh@Jinz-re2hh10 ай бұрын
    • There are many low rating/noobs only lobbies, you can set a max rating for a lobby, where such toxic behavior is pretty low. But yeah, just don't join lobbies with relatively high rated players when starting out. And play your first few games vs AI, you can also coop vs AI, which is pretty fun and can learn from your teammates.
