    • @@becauseisaac - Perhaps watch the mv for 'Singularity', sung by Taehyung; it was his solo intro track for BTS album 'Love Yourself: Tear'. It's 5 years old, but it was written for his style of singing, and at the time it was called a watershed moment for kpop by music critics. Taehyung doesn't fit the kpop mould of light tenors as he's a full baritone (even though his range is so good he sang the whole of 'Stigma' in flawless falsetto, and was nicknamed 'The Ariana Grande of kpop').

  • Their discography is so vast and diverse, it's impossible to think you can classify who they are or what they are by listening to only a handful of songs... It's because unlike other 'boy bands', BTS is formed of seven different writers, producers, composers, vocalists, and rappers - who not only have songs featuring all seven members, but also have solo songs, and songs featuring subunits of only the rappers, only the vocalists, or songs by subunits of 2, 3, or 4 members combined....So many songs are vastly different from other songs based on who is writing, composing, producing, and featuring

They snubbed JK and V and even Jimin...(I loved Jhope's song with J. Cole too, and RM's collab with the female singer)...my 3 grown married sons have to hear me complaining that I am not hearing ANY bts songs, as a group OR solo or any radio stations and I live in Baltimore, a fairly big city when it comes to music...I think it's because they're not "American"...who the hell knows.

  • Taehyung has always said his musical tastes are different from BTSs music. He loves jazz, r&b, soul and listens to many indie artists. Based off his solo project, he doesn’t care about charts. He just loves music and he got to do what he really wanted when he had the chance to put out solo stuff. Some people were disappointed he didn’t promote in the US, but i can see why. The US market wouldn’t be into this stuff just to be completely frank. I’m from the US and I personally love his voice and this style of music. With that being said, he can still perform just as good at anyone else if not better at the high energy, pop music. Has tons of charisma and evokes any emotion appropriate to the song. You want him to go hard, he can growl. You want him to sing soul, his voice can make you melt. I am a little sad he didn’t get to perform in front of a live audience with this band he had on tiny desk. That woulda been awesome

  • V aka Kim Taehyung is incredible. He is a baritone but has the widest range in the group of all 4 vocalists. However, he is considered a 'sub vocalist' in an industry that is obsessed with tenors and high notes which is crazy. If you are in an idol group and a baritone you are either a rapper or underutilised like Taehyung. For ten years he sang outside his natural range (and sounded incredible, too) but with his solo EP LAYOVER and the live performances he did for that album, he showed that he is one of the most incredible and reliable live singers out there. He even did F1RST TAKE, which is a Japanese live show where you just have a mic and a backtrack and one chance to get it right. And he nailed it, he sounded even better than the album recording. Tae loves jazz and soul, he did a cover of Bing Crosby's "It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas" last year for fans.

I'm not surprise to see him vibing with a bunch of musicians he barely knows 😂 Tiny desk concerts really showcase his personality Also thank you for giving the Bangtan 7 a chance. I dont really like their flashy pop songs or English songs either. They put me off BTS. But their discography have beyond what is seen on the surface. So I ask that u continue to have an open mind. Dont fake reactions, its okay to not like a song. Dont be afraid of Antis (fake Army) 😂😂 and just enjoy the journey. These guys are really inspiring 💜

    • I think you'd trust BTS a lot more if you watched some episodes of Run BTS. They've made it to the top, but they are also chaotic, hilarious, and very transparent guys. Because they were hated so much for coming from a small company with a different philosophy, they worked harder and harder and were as surprised as anyone to start winning things.

    • @1badlibrarian I didn't say I didn't trust BTS' persona. Just celebrities in general, especially K-pop artists. These ppl take acting classes ffs 😭 Bts seem very genuine, tho. However, J-hope feels a bit exaggerated sometimes. He seems a bit more serious than he comes across. Not fake tho.

      @aaronkingtan@aaronkingtan5 ай бұрын
    • Holy cow, people. OP said the combo of words "usually don't". As in, other celebs aren't trustworthy, but Tae is not faking it. It's a complement! And I don't know how long OP has been ARMY, but maybe they need more time with the other members to understand how trustworthy they are, as well. Yes - Hobi does indeed exaggerate, but it's because he's a showman who has developed different personas and also always tries to keep the energy up - not because he isn't a genuine person or is lying to us. I still have a knee jerk distrust of public personalities that makes BTS seem like a unicorn. The distrust is triggered once in a while when watching BTS in their formal interviews. But I know they may say things they are socially obligated to, but we as fans are aware that they are just being polite - they might even have told us that directly on another occasion. BTS shares so much with us that ARMYs have insider knowledge and can tell when they aren't being totally genuine talking to outsiders. RM's social laugh; Tae's polite fake-o-meter face; Jin's jokes with hosts who abused them in the past but are beneath them socially now (see Knowing Bros).... All examples of times we know they aren't 100% genuine, but they've given us tools to recognize it. I mean, they have an entire body of work exploring and coming to terms with their different personas! As for disparaging their songs - ridiculous. OP just expressed an opinion of what they don't like. They didn't say it was crap. Learn to distinguish between personal taste and attack, Ami! 👍💜

  • Kim Taehyung aka V earned the title of the Diamond Voice of Korea. You cannot find another voice texturally like his anywhere in this world & his vocals are a whole another level. Kpop supports tenor for vocalists and V as baritone was the first to break the mold and earn his place as among the best. He is the best dancer & performer and on stage he totally slays. He is called the Idol of Idols because of the amount of Idols who look up to him as their role model and inspiration. He is extremely versatile because he has to sing songs created for tenors and each time he stood out beautifully. He can sing any genre & absolutely nail it. And he can cover any song & make it better. No one can cover his songs as well. Please review Stigma and Singularity especially the live versions.

Overall BTS has like 590+ none English songs that has great lyrics and messages but it never got played on radio, because it's not in English. As a result, their English pop songs are their most popular since it has massive radio spins which is why it got them to no.1 on Billboards chart, but those songs honestly does not sound like BTS.

    • Have to disagree, Kim Taehyung's solo songs are unique not just within BTS & KPOP but within music itself. Give a listen to Scenery, Stigma, Singularity, Winter Bear, Snow Flower, Layover, FRIENDS... Even his few lines in BTS songs were standouts because of his voice, vocals and range. Just the genre itself is not the unifying factor because many K singers/bands have sung Jazz or R&B atleast once.

Here's a snippet of conversation between V and Suga on Suga's talkshow "Suchwita": Suga: Our team is cool in that the charms of all seven of us are so different, and we all have different things we're good at, so I thought us being together brought about really good synergy. V: But that's what I find so cool! Suga: Yeah. We're so different musically! V: The music we want to make is so different. Suga: When I listen to our members' singles or albums, everyone's colors are different. But these people became one team. V: And what I can see from our solo tracks is when we gather together, I think the charms of the songs will double. Suga: But for real, I can't imagine what will happen when we gather together after our solo endeavors. Because we're so different. Suga: I'm so excited for it when all seven of us gather together. I wonder what our colors will be then. V: Long time ago... I think Hobi said this that we need to do our own individual things, so that when we gather together again our colors will be more distinct. After hearing that -- I felt this after releasing my album last -- but I think BTS' musical colors will be even more distinct than before.

  • A little bit of extra info here! There is actually a clip where you can see Taehyung playing the saxophone, from another performance I believe, so if you’re interested in that you can check it out! The youngest member, Jungkook, has also just very recently released his first solo album “Golden” and has done a few live performances where you can really hear his vocals, so I suggest checking the album out and then some live recordings. As for Jimin, I’d 100% recommend “Like Crazy”, it has an amazing feel to it and very different from what you’ve checked out so far. If you’d like to get to know more sides of him I’d also suggest “Set Me Free Pt2” and “Promise”. J-Hope was the first member to do solo live performances, at Lolapalloza. After releasing his first solo album “Jack in the box” he confessed he felt somewhat nervous about being the first to do live shows but that he wanted to take that step so that the other members could feel more comfortable, so I reccomend checking part of his set out (or even everything) or if youre looking for something shorter checking out his performance at MAMA of the songs “Arson” and “More”. This solo album shows a somewhat “new side” to J-Hope. If you’d like to know what I mean by that maybe you could also check out “Hope World” or “Blue side”. There’s a whole explanation behind this album, his previous mixtape and even his stage name envolving Pandora’s Box but I’m sure people will get into it if you react to him. Suga, known as Agust D when in solo projects, also released a solo album called D-Day and was actually the first and only member so far to go on a solo Tour. He is known for very emotional, touching, motivational and raw music. I recommend checking out some of his recent stuff like “Haegum” and “Amygdala” to understand the different sides of him and some live performances as well if you’d like. Jin, the oldest, unfortunately didnt have time to release a solo album as he was the first one of the group to join the military. However, he did release a single called “Astronaut” and you can even check out his live performance with Coldplay. As for other songs by this amazing artist I’d reccomend “Moon” and “Epiphany”, both songs he released as solos within BTS albums. Once again, thank you so much for the reactions and it’s amazing to see someone slowly get into the guys and explore the different genres within BTS.

A sweet, friendly, down-to-earth guy, although he used to be the most rambunctious and playful teenager in the group. Fun fact: Also known as the most handsome man in the world since 2017. 😉 He is one of the most consistent member musically. His solo work within BTS are also within Jazz and RnB genre. Pls check out Singularity and Stigma. He also did a cover of It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas and Cheek-to-Cheek. He wrote several good jazzy ballads like Scenery, Snow Flower, Sweet Night, Christmas Tree, Winter Bear. Oh yes, you definitely have to check out BTS' Tiny Desk. All of the members' solo projects are different musically and have their own vibes! No wonder they are such a powerhouse, because each member are so talented in their own way and could be successful as solo artists. It's a marvel that they stick together as a group. Their bond and brotherhood is so sweet to watch! And pls check out A Guide to BTS Members by Taylor Marie to know them better.

The featured artist is Woosung, the lead singer of a Korean indi rock group with one of the most beautiful voices I have ever heard. Snooze though is a song with so much comfort and compassion it shows a totally different side to Suga. • I knew you would LOVE this one too. Specially with this great band. BTS has their own Tiny Desk if you're interested, also with a live band, they perform 3 songs as well, Dynamite (which you heard the first time checking them out), Save Me (from their "The Most Beautiful Moment in Life: Young Forever" album) and Spring Day (THE queen of all BTS songs, has not left korean charts since it was released 6 years ago). Each of them brings a different vibe and Spring Day specially has a lot of meaning behind it both in the MV and the lyrics that make reference to and pay homage to the victims and families of the Sewol Ferry disaster that happened in 2014 where over 200 students died. As the other fully english BTS songs you listened to, dynamite serves as just a fun bop song that ppl could listen to, to cheer themselves up during the pandemic. This tiny desk was recorded during this time, so if you do watch it try to keep that in mind even if you didn't really like that song on first listen. But beyond that I'd recommend their songs "Not Today", "Run", "Run BTS" (yes, those are 2 different songs and last one doesn't have an MV), "ON", "Blood, Sweat and Tears" and "Save Me" (this MV was shot all in one take, it could be cool if you checked out the behind the scenes video too) bc you said you liked the darker vibe and themes more. And if you're willing to give some of their more colorful stuff a try again I'd recommend "Dope", "Idol", "DNA", "Boy With Luv ft. Halsey" As always I recommend checking out Taylor's guide to BTS to learn more abt them and how these 7 talented and hard working men came together.

  • Definitely the full group tiny desk, just to finish out all the tiny desk concerts. But some other suggestions: • a live performance of their song house cards that has jazzy vibes - just has the 4 vocalists (called the vocal line) • live performance of either cypher Pt. 3 or Tear - a song to showcase just the rap line • live performance of Run BTS (not to be confused with their song Run or their tv show Run BTS lol) - a full group song with choreo that isn’t poppy like the English songs Bts has done sooo many different things this plus what you’ve seen so far really just scratches the surface.

  • With this album, he made the music he wanted rather than chasing numbers and we are proud of him.

  • Each member has their own style, which they were able to truly express in their solo projects. Tea's BTS name of V stands for Victory. While RM stands for Rap Monster.

  • His talent is SO effortless, he exudes charm, charisma, and sweetness! I hope you check out more live performances of his (he did more on NPOP, Inkigayo, MCountdown, Music bank, and 2 band sessions with the tiny desk band) well as the other member’s live performances (jungkook has some that recently came out that are insanely good) 💜

  • Я думаю, что V достоин всех высоких титулов за свой бархатный вокал и преданность хорошей музыке. Он необыкновенный артист, он украшает своим голосом не только к-поп, но и всю мировую музыку, спасибо ему за его талант и труд

  • What's fascinating about BTS is that the members are very different artists. RM and V chose the intimate setting of Tiny Desk Concert because it suited their music well. The other members chose different types of performances that suits _their_ music. The most recent one is *Jung Kook at Times Square.* He sang five songs, three with choreography and two without. Spectacular performance. It was a surprise show with his label announcing it only 30 minutes prior, but the place was packed. (ARMY figured it out and were already filling the space since a couple of hours earlier). *J-hope,* who kicked off BTS's solo era in July 2022, did a 70-minute set as a headliner at *Lollapalooza.* The performance was electrifying. If 70 minutes is too long, you can see some opening numbers divided into two videos "Intro + More" and "Baseline + Cypher pt. 1 + Hansang". *Suga/Agust D* is the only member who did a solo tour so far, and what a tour it was, showcasing his artistry and personal story, with a well thought-out setlist and a unique stage set-up. Although his concert performances are incredible, I think watching the *MVs of his song trilogy* is a better introduction to his music. "Daechwita" - "Haegeum" - "Amygdala", in this order. He's a master storyteller and the use of symbolism helps you understand his story. For *Jimin,* his two singles "Like Crazy" and "Set Me Free pt. 2" feature elaborate choreography and his unique voice. He performed these at Korean music shows, as well as the first song on Jimmy Fallon. He's just mesmerizing on stage. There's also his live performance of "Letter (Dear ARMY)" to see another side of him. *Jin* released a single "The Astronaut", co-written with Coldplay, and he performed it at a Coldplay concert in Argentina, which was broadcast to cinemas all over the world. Chris Martin's speech that introduced him before his performance was so heartwarming. Other Jin's songs are "Epiphany" (see the live performance) and "Awake".
