It's been 25 years since the focus in Las Vegas quickly shifted from a Mike Tyson fight to a shooting just off the Las Vegas Strip. Rap superstar Tupac Shakur was murdered in Las Vegas in 1996. The murder has been shrouded in mystery for years, but 13 Action News is answering some long-simmering questions about the death of the music icon.

  • It's been 25yrs and the media still can't get it rite. He was never a gangster rapper. He was a revolutionary rapper who spoke for the streets.

  • His song Dear Mama still gives me Goosebumps & teary eyes… My white, 75yr old Nanna absolutely loves that song too, can you believe that?? She also loves Brenda’s Got A Baby, Changes & Starin Through My Rearview…. To understand, my Nan doesn’t cuss at all, she’s Australian, she’s prim & proper, she doesn’t even listen to music much at all & never ever listens to hip hop but when many years ago I’m driving with her & my Tupac CD automatically started playing when we got in the car, Dear Mama song. After a few minutes I realised & turned it off & was like “sorry Nanna, so used to him playing” & could’ve knocked me over with a feather when she said “oh no, you can play it, what a beautiful song, I assume he’s talking to his Mother? Do you have any other songs of his I might like?”…. Nan & I drove around for an extra hour, playing different Tupac songs & me telling her things about him. We went back to my place & watched a couple of documentaries I had on him. She told me she had no idea how intelligent & kind he was & that his songs were so powerful in a positive way & “definitely doesn’t hurt that he’s also a stunning man to look at too, I could stare at him all day” she said 😂👏🏼 Honestly, if he can have my white, prim & proper Nan love his music & message, then he definitely had/HAS the ability to change the world & touch the souls of everyone in it!! 😌😌

He wanted everyone to love each other, and that everyone could have the same opportunities, despite the neighboorhood where you live, despite your skin's colour, despite how wealth your family is ,and pay attention ,he didn't wanted a communist society,he just wanted everyone to live at ther fullest. However, his being black in a violent society like the american one in the 90s led to his misteryous and terrible death. 25 years ago we lost an important pubblic figure, he would 've been as important as Martin Luther King, Ghandi, and so on.

His song dear mama helped me through my extreme sadness, I lost my mother at 11 years old in 1994, so with that song later on I became an instant fan, I’ll never forget I was writing one day, and was reciting dear mama, and my sister came in the living room and asked me did I write that, I said no I’m reciting Tupac dear mama, she said oh wow ok I thought you were writing that. Forever he will be a huge part of me, I cry like a baby every time , the hurt and pain is still deep, as deep as my hurt and pain over my mother , and that speaks volumes to what he means to me.

  • I love Pac as a person, and I sense that he truly loved other people. I also strongly feel like he is one of Jehovah God’s chosen children. He had a personality and looks that commanded attention. I was introduced to his music through my two sons who are now in their earlier and mid-forties. Before Pac died, I played his songs 24/7 for days. I also listen to the Bay Area rappers especially E-40. I listened to almost all the rappers who had the best beats. All the rappers who I liked Pac knew them. It’s not to many people who do not love Pac. He’s loved around the world. My heart and inner being lets me know that Almighty God Jehovah loves Pac. I believe Pac had a calling on his life. I believe he was called to preach and teach the word of God; I believe had he lived to see his early forties the transformation would had began to take place; we would have began to see him slowly maturing into a man of God. I feel that is why his name is still being heard on earth because he is one of Jehovah God’s chosen children. He was murdered in the streets of Las Vegas. The traffic was so heavy, the murderer should have been apprehended the same night. I believe because he is one of Jehovah God’s chosen children, I believe Father God Jehovah is not pleased with his murder, and the way it was handled. So we will hear his name, just like we hear the names of Father God’s prophets, John the Baptist, and Jesus’s apostles. RIP to my beloved brothers 2Pac Makaveli, Prince Kadafi, Prince Fatal, Big Kato, Big Syke, and the list goes on and on. 🙏🏽💕💔🌹😭👑👑👑👑👑🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Much love from Australia 🥺🥺🥺💜💜💜

    • I love pac I Play his songs everyday. His name is so gorgeous. It flows with his personality an he is a handsome man. I miss pac frfr I almost tear up when I hear pac or see an interview. He should still be here an he shouldn't had died that way ... I know death comes to everyone. I think he shouldn't had died that way. We keep talking about him because we feel guilty. That we couldn't protect him an we still hurting the fact he is gone. We as a nation hasn't fully healed. Thats why after 25 years we are still talking bout pac . We don't talk much about biggie like how we talk about pac. We only talk about biggie near or around his death memorial but we talk about or interview about Tupac every day. Its the guilt. Even if we had nothing to do with it. We knew it shouldn't had happen. We will never find peace Tupac death will haunt us. An it the truth. Tupac was special different. It would never be another Tupac. An we have to live with that. We never understood what we had until its gone. An now it too late we just have to live with the memories the songs and the movies. Rip Tupac Shakur 🙏

  • He was shot 5 times before that in 1995 New York 2 to the head, 2 to the chest you can see the chest scars in his pictures and 1 shot to the groin. Then shot 4 times in Las Vegas in 1996, 1 lung collapsed, lost a finger, died 6 days later in the hospital. His mother cremated him, she didn't want the world to see him in a casket to save everyone tears and sorrow. 25 years old and accomplished all that, that's a rare and special human being.
