Help us welcome home our new llama, Turk! In this video we go over everything you need to think about when brining home a new llama. Turk is going to be living with a herd of cows as a protector. Its typical for guardian llamas to live without other llamas, allowing them to form a stronger bonds with their herd. Llamas are social animals. Isolated camelids lead lonely lives, give them some animal friends.
He'll spend some time getting acclimated in his pen before we turn him out to larger areas. He and nana have some getting use to each other to do.

"and when women get stressed they buy things so I got a llama" honestly we've all been there
Have we, though? 😂
🤣🤣🤣😍
Absolutely true.
Hahaha!🤣
Right? I was volunteering at the Humane Society, and after a month, I thought to myself, "I've gone 30 days without adopting anyone! I think I will reward myself with a cat!" But not for me- I got a bestie for my male tuxedo cat who was always try8ng to snuggle with my tiny female tuxedo, but she had a much larger space bubble, and he needed a kitty wife.
My wife also sometimes brings home animals when she feels stressed. We have 7 cats now. It’s been a tough year.
Oh lordy you poor thing
Lol! Well, at least they're cats, not large farm animals!
I wasn't even stressed when I came home with 5 kittens one day. Just a sap for a litter of abandoned kittens on the side of the road. 1 year later and they're all our happy house cats. 😅
@professor Tem Bless u for helping them.
Bless you and your wife, Gary
Aww, the shearing Queens got themselves a Prince Charming! Wifey knows she got you cornered with that purchase and she's sitting pretty while milking it like a master! But she's also being a great partner and helping out when the soul mate makes a big decision for the both of you! You two are an inspiration and a pleasure to follow along with your lives, thank you both for sharing!
I think you mean “thank you both for sheering!” 🤣🤪
@@joyofcookies Shearing?
Can't wait to see more of Turk's progress. I like this form of content, BTW. 😊
This couple amazes me with their work ethic. Didn't realize that they have animals of their own with your crazy busy schedule! Bravo.
Very well done! You hit on all the correct points, many people don’t think thru what a new pet requires, this can apply to any new life you bring into your life,!
Good basics for stock care. You know Turk’s going to need a buddy, right? 😁
I was thinking about the same thing. Part of proper care is to provide for an animal's social needs. Llamas are not solitary animals and to truly thrive, really do need companionship.
I explain in the description that he’s a guardian for livestock. It’s by design for them to bond with their herd. Finding companions for llamas isn’t an easy task to begin with and the wrong llama combo is bad bad bad for the all involved. If another llama comes into our life that needs a home, I’m open to help them too. For now, it’s Turk and his calves. 🤘🏻
I was thinking he needed a buddy too, but calves make wonderful companions.
@@rightchoiceshearing What calves are you talking about? Has he got a"job" protecting calves? Can we see them? This should make for interesting interplay. Loved the chat over coffee about the pen, kinda reminded me of the Lone Ranger/Tonto joke, 'What you mean We, kimo sabe?' Haha. And did you say you had a dog??
He’ll be happy with calves. Llamas mate by kneeling, so if you come out some morning and Turk has got some calf pinned to the ground, don’t be alarmed.
He's in heaven now. Oh my goodness it's Turk! He's such a beauty. So glad you have him.❤
I would call his newly built home "Turks' He-Shed.❣️ He is absolutely beautiful.
You should get a sponsorship with Chewy.
You two are my daily education fun. Welcome home Turk. So your Mum was stressing... So here you are! Perfect match.
I can't believe how much you two have accomplished in your lives. You have quite the spread there! Turk is a beautiful alpaca! Can't wait to see the new videos on you shearing him, and how the wool is processed! Keep the videos coming! Love the content ❤❤
Llama
He is beautiful and looks like he’s full of personality
I so enjoy you two!!! So sweet together and always treat the animals tenderly ♥️
You are absolutely sooo cute! The face you made when saying it was precious. Your wife got you good. “You are going to build”
Both are women
You got a Llama! 😊❤❤❤

You and your wife are so cute together and you're so considerate of your animals ❤

Noticed your Airstream , we are in our 70’s and still enjoy ours.
"I got a Llama!"... me wondering what fibre friend I can tuck into my city yard, since I'm feeling pretty stressed these days! HAHA!
Welcome to Turks Yurt! Its always ladies night. 😁 Good luck with your new toy boy. Hes pretty. 👍
Good morning you too
Handsome boy :) Welcome, Turk!
Katie, thank you for sound livestock husbandry, it's the essentials so often forgotten.
I can't think of a better home for him. Seeing you both work with countless distressed/difficult animals shaped JUST like him gives me confidence in you two winning his heart in record time. Congratulations all three if you!❤
Welcome home, Turk! Looking great now and eagerly anticipating future Turk videos.
Wow.. Amazing how fast you can do the hut. I'm sure Turk will warm up with you with all the love you're giving him.
Aw, good mama for a llama🎉
The face he had when your wife offered food😂 these are such cool ass animals!
Everybody need a rescue. Good for your, enjoy!
Lordy, you gals wear me out just watching you!
Thank you for mentioning antiparasitic resistance! I had never even heard about it but it, like antibiotic resistance, is so important to educate and spread awareness about.
How did I not know you were down 35 from me. Supper cool as if you aren't already like ice !
Love him almost as much as you two. Thank you for sharing.
Ya’ll are great. I love that you are sharing your knowledge about animal husbandry. Let’s hope it makes people think twice about adopting an animal.
🥰🥰🥰🥰 she looks like a beauty queen on a float!
Эти 2 девченки отлисно стригут !!!!! Браво !!! Очень интересно!!!! Спб
I hope Turk gets a companion so he’s not lonely.
So stinkin' cute! Of course he is super smart and good for shearing! Turk doesn't know it yet, but he is about to be spoiled rotten!
I came to advocate for a friend for Turk but I see you already have addressed that. I really enjoy your channel and I’m super impressed with your expertise. Happy shearing!
The way you looked at that porch swing made me think you were thinking, "I couldn't have just bought a porch swing to feel better?"
You and your wife make me happy!
Loved Turk, love the video. Very well done with lots of really helpful information, thanks 😊
:0 I'd love to see you make more long form content in the future!
Great job ladies👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻❤️. He looks so comfortable in his new digs!! He will love you both in no time.
Right THIS WAS ACTUALLY HELPFUL TO SOMEONE WHO HASN'T A CLUE & animal's & building. Even thought I have 16 pets 4 rabbits 🐇 7 cats & rest hamsters 🐹 ALSO YOU'RE SOO CLOSE TO 2 M. KEEP UP THE GREAT CONTENT 👍 ❤
He's beautiful. Congrats!
"Character" is a nice way to say "spits in your face w/ no provocation"...😂
What a beautiful animal and I hope to see more on Turk. I love llamas and I think you two will be excellent in taking care of Turk
I had never seen shearing before, and just saw one of your shorts. You got me . At first I found it relaxing, just watching. Then I realized that I really like your narrative , information and your voice. You must be a great teacher, I know I've learned a lot.
Congratulations! He’s adorable and lucky to be part of your family!
Apparently, I should have watched this video before the shearing. He's such a handsome boy.
You guys are an adorable couple❤
Katie, you never fail to bring a smile to my face! "I got a llama!"
They've got 400 acres, and a herd of cattle to occupy Turk. These short spaces, we've got to write, don't convey lots so, hope it wasn't as "spur of the moment" as it sounds.
Awe his ears.
Love To You Both. ♥️
Congratulations to becoming momas to a Llama. I love his mohawk and you nailed that butt floof!
Cool beans,
Very informative video and well done.👏
Great build and yeppers it’s going to be hot. Yes your wife is truly purty and you are both a handsome couple. Thank you for sharing the build. It is perfect!!!!❤❤

Turk Yert!
This video is sooo wonderful ❤ thank you so much ❤️🔥❤️🔥🙌🏻🙌🏻
You guys are AMAZING!!! Good on you!! 💪💪💕
Throughly enjoyed this informative video. Well done!!
I'm sorry but there's something so funny and sweet about these strong women, all tatted up and drinking tea out of those dainty little teacups 😂😂😂 I'm not talking bad about the tattoos, I've got several myself, i found the juxtaposition rather humorous
Lovely Llama :)
Great addition to the family. He's gorgeous.❤ Since people are asking, he has company with the cattle. Loves baby calves. 💖🦙🐂🤟
This reminds me of me and my husband...he is currently coordinating the purchase of a pig...or two...
Congratulations! Llamas are amazing animals. Having raised my own llama herd and rescued many more over the last 24 years, I hope yo don’t mind a few suggestions. First,Turk should to be gelded unless you’re planning on using him for breeding. After he’s gelded, he needs a llama friend. His companion should be another gelding. Look for a mild mannered friend for him. Please don’t put him with female llamas. Because of his age, it’s likely he would continue to try and mount a female even after being gelded. Best of luck. Llamas are incredible animals.
Nice video!!!! Even found a way to give your sponsors some love - sweet! 🤑
LOL. You bringing home a llama sounds a lot like Darcy bringing home another plant.
Actually all three of you are quite attrative!
Handsome!
Congrats on getting the new little buddy. He's a handsome guy, and now has a great, and knowledgeable family. Lucky llama.
I can’t imagine Turk being anywhere else, but with you 2 beautiful women
Turk is adorable and you two did an amazing job! I look forward to Turks Tavern.
Thank you!
Turk's shanty....island style lol
I like watching your videos keep up the good work
great work, and quick too!!
I have ADHD. When I'm asked how long something will take me at work, I figure out how long I think it will realistically take me. . . And then triple it. That is what I tell my employers. Because the distractions are real. I'm so impressed that you two kept going and finished that shelter in a single day. I would've given up after the trip to home depot. 96 degrees in humid Texas? No thank you.
I’ve been watching your channel since it was just starting out. I was happy to notice that y’all are coming on to 2M subs! Congratulations! I grew up in a horse, cattle and pig farming community and have little knowledge of Llamas, though there are several large fibre farms in my county since the late 80’s. I have learned so much from your content. My late mother enjoyed you and Darien too. She said you seemed to have such a great relationship (thank goodness my folks were cool with all kinds of people). Turk is a handsome honey and he’ll be eating out of your hands in no time! Best wishes!
Beautiful llama!! I’ve wanted to get my dog a llama. I have a 75lb lab x pit female black and white. You know how deer hop across a space like on springs, well, my dog mimics them in hopes of befriending them. Even a coyote. Every time it comes out she wants to play. I say she because I found her den and she and the pups were in it. She has a rabbit visit her from our bedroom window. My dog stretches from our bed and a rabbit visits standing up smelling each other. Ever see a wild rabbits get the zoomies because it visited her friend my dog lolololol!!
You two are so cute. I love watching you.
I love your barn
