Nicola Sturgeon: the moments that marked her leadership
Nicola Sturgeon has resigned as Scotland’s first minister in a surprise decision, triggering the Scottish National party's first leadership election in nearly eight years.

Sturgeon became the leader of the SNP in the wake of its failed 2014 independence referendum, and made independence her main political ambition. Despite continuously performing well in elections, she faced a series of political setbacks recently, including the UK supreme court defeat of her plans for a fresh independence referendum and a damaging row over the double rapist Isla Bryson being sent to a female jail after announcing she was a trans woman.
Announcing her resignation, Sturgeon said she no longer had the stamina to continue in the highly pressured and demanding role.

You wouldn't have enough time to show sturgeons absolute disaster's
No surprise here then from The Guardian ( Guardian of what though!)
Who writes your videos description?? It's lacking grammar and punctuation.
'videos' should have an apostrophe. Thought you'd appreciate being told.
Her leadership was driving all of Scotland's public services into the ground, islanders having to find a way to finance their own ferry (thanks to Westminster), businesses threatening to leave Scotland, businesses that gave Scotland the body-swerve. What a "legacy".
brexit didn't help much and that continuing bit of nonsense is courtesy of Westminster.
@@public.public Aye. Those in the European Union are doing so great yeah? Germany and France are in an even worse state than the UK. And the UK is on fire.
Nonsense
What a load of daily mail
I hear KFC are hiring!
She served her Globalist masters well. Every useless, failed policy she tried to enact were fed directly to her. If she survives the upcoming police investigations into her financial "mismanagement" I'm sure she'll have a job waiting for her at UNICEF or one of the other big N.G.O's.
@@ronnygibbon Yep, gravy train for these people whilst the rest of struggle and lose our public safety and identity!
The greatest moment of her leadership was her resignation.
No great loss.
Got to love the Guardian simping over a nationalist, lol. Nicola hated London based Media like the Guardian, lol!
All her positive achievements could've been covered in a thirty second vid...and I'm being generous with that.
Shows how little you know. There have been a multitude of positive policies enacted in Scotland in her tenure. The results of a few can be seen in the recent report highlighting how child poverty is 20% lower in Scotland than anywhere else in the UK. Thanks to the Scottish government the worst of the tories austerity policies have been mitigated here as well as better access to dental care and a better function NHS. The list goes on and if you cared to look beyond your prejudices you may have cared to do a bit of research before talking nonsense.
@@SI-vb7hd The chairman of the Scottish BMA, Dr Iain Kennedy, says the NHS in Scotland is ‘broken’ and cannot survive as an ‘all-you-can-eat buffet service’. Health is already becoming semi-privatised in Scotland. Since the pandemic there has been a 68 per cent increase in people going private to escape eternal waiting lists. NHS dentists in Scotland are as rare as hen’s teeth...
@@SI-vb7hdThe original poster is absolutely correct, she introduced very, very few successful policies. "the list goes on and on" that's just not true. The list of literally useless policies and financial "mismanagement " goes on and on. We're going to hear much more about this in the future.
@@ronnygibbon I suspect she'll have her collar felt by the police...
You would think that after nearly a decade there would be at least a few positive accomplishments to mention in a wee "tribute" video.
I think I caught a glimpse of the suitcase with the missing £600,000 in it at 0:27.
Door...hit you....way out etc
Did she resign because of those ‘right wing’ protests in Liverpool last week!? 😂😂😂😂
Sturgeon prepared to hold second resignation if this one doesn't work...

Best one was 15.02.23. X
What a roll call of useless incompetence
Scunnered. But it's time. She chose an bizarre hill to die on with the trans issue, and couldn't even answer the simple questions. We can do better than that. Onwards to Indy.
she wont be missed
Fair play, that woman’s got Balls!
😊😊😊
the fact that sturgeon didnt even get a photo with truss is foul 💀
Sturgeon did so much for Scotland: not before Feb 2023 but on 15/2/23, thank you and goodbye.
I wish she'd stayed and succeeded, for England's sake.
For just resigning the money is :£ 96,000 plus just for conning the scottish people she worth millions
Fan-Dabi-Dozi
😂
There is nothing about this woman that is to be admired. Whether you are from N. Ireland, Scotland, England, Wales, or Yorkshire, we are all British! Those citizens with a broader outlook, and a higher level of human conscience, know that this great country is better off united not divided.
why did she leave what the phike pike
After ‘a historic’ I love that the guardian can’t even grammar check properly! After AN HISTORIC!
Depends on your accent, actually
You would expect that after nearly a decade, even in a little "tribute" video like this there would be at least a few positive policies to mention.
@The Grouse Neither can you, apparently. Historic starts with a sounded 'h' in standard English, 'h' doesn't make a voel sound, thus 'a historic' is correct. If it was pronounced without a sounded h, then it would be 'an historic'.
@@thegregorycolin2335 No, an historic is generally considered correct
@Sakidora except it's not. It's generally considered old-fashioned and poor grammar from a time when we used to drop the 'h' in words of French origin. In fact, a quick Google of the Gaurdian's style guide says as much and regards 'a historical' as correct in modern English. As does the univerisy of Bristol's, the Chicago Manual of Style, the Ap Stylebook, and The Penguin Write's Manual. Both the Oxford and Cambridge dictionaries contain a definition with the words 'a historic' or 'a historical'. So, not only is it incorrect form, but it's not even a difference between standard British or American English. The use of the word 'an' before historic, in spoken English, is entirely dependent on how the speaker pronounces the word and thus is entirely dependent on their accent. However, in written English the standard form is to write 'a' historic.
Oh Lord Thank you for this day
Why?
🙏❤❤❤🙏
Bye fish woman.
Nicola who?
Nicola you are a brave lass👍
She is
See how brave when she and her homosexual husband go to jail for stealing the gullible Scottish Nose Pickers money...like poor old Christine and Colin Weir. I live in Scotland and seen it deteriorate under the SNP TF they never won the Referendum or Scotland would have ended up like freakin Albania
As an American I love the accent though.
The Guardian declares ' it ' a female???
One of the best to ever do it. Thanks Nicola ❤
Take it you're joking, name one thing she did for the actual working man and women, and don't give me all the so called freebies, I'm talking about the WORKING man and woman.
@@johngreenhorn8853 She gave you the highest taxes in the UK if that helps...
@@peterpaszczak4013 Aye can't argue with facts.
Best leader in the UK...
I have so much respect for Nicola and I wish her well, I hope the next first minister of Scotland 🏴 is as formidable as she is.
Formidable 😂 disaster is the word you were looking for 😮
Nicola Sturgeon has everything that the Tories don’t, Honesty, Integrity, inner Strength.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
After 8 years as leader of the SNP ,not one politician in the UK could hold a candle to Nicola Sturgeon as far as talent and ability is concerned ! You can deny her achievements all you like but the true fact is that she kept on winning and winning and winning until she left on her terms ! How many wished she was an English MP , such was her successes?
She was useless and self destructed at the end because she denied biological reality.
Freakin awesome politician.
Yea, if you enjoy tyrannical dictatorships 😳🤣
BYE BYE
The journey from possible cross-dresser but moderately attractive man to clearly female but hideous was truly remarkable.
What can expect from the Guardian?
